Unseen Attackers

In the last few years I've lost count of how many times I've been attacked (and killed) by PKs in BDO, but it's definitely in the hundreds. In general, I don't even see the attacks. I just die never seeing who attacked me except from the journal saying who killed me (after the fact). Today I had a new and very strange experience. I have tried playing this a few times now, I just can't.

The new player experience is pretty confusing, and I guess you can say that of any long standing MMOs, but I just feel this one just throws too much at you.

I play the game for 5 minutes and suddenly I have a ton of things to claim, they all clutter my inventory and I have no idea what to do with them. Some of the stuff I have is for level 59+, and I am level 10. Why are you giving me those things? Just to get me to buy more inventory slots? I have a bunch of horse-related stuff from level 1. I guess it's for my mount, but I don't have a quest or something to tell me to get a mount. So again, it's just cluttering my inventory for no reason.

Then I encounter a node somewhere near the spawn area, I just can't tell what to do with it exactly.

I have a quest about a pet box, so I go to the NPC, and all he gives me is a flute? And now I am playing a flute, which btw, forces my character to walk while playing it. The NPC keeps telling me to treat my pets well. What pets? I think he alluded I might have a cat. I can't remember exactly now.

Then there is a skill tree. There are lots of skills I cannot put points into. So I scroll a while and it looks like I can only put points into the AP passive. Whatever AP is (I am guessing it's attack power). So I put points there because I am not seeing any other place I can interact with. I hope I have done it correctly. Can I respec later? Who knows, the only thing I am being told is that I can spend points in the skill tree.

I wanted to experience the boss fights and the new area because I am really curious about the Korean heritage the developers were proudly presenting in their release video, when the new feature was added.

But so much stuff is being thrown at me that I just don't want to get into it.

I played a lot of MMOs, and the more they become akin to mobile games, the more confusing they become. Just recently I had given Guild Wars 2 a shot and I was able to get a handle on it pretty quickly, and that was with around 10 years of game to deal with.
