Needs way more polish. At the time of writing, this game is a buggy mess.

I like the updates to the graphics and sound (for the most part). The battle actions log on the right side of the screen is a nice touch. I found it a little hard to follow the flow of battle due to all of the animations and effects and how they differ in animation length. Prob not the best battle UI but I can get over it.

The one thing I can't get over is how buggy this game is. Multiple times I would have the game freeze in the middle of battle, stuck on a character portrait in the action queue. Nothing I could do fixed it except quitting and restarting my game. Unacceptable. This game was a masterpiece when it was originally released and it deserved better treatment than this buggy mess.

Hopefully these issues get fixed, but why do so many games release broken like this? I'm tired of being an unpaid beta tester.

Game is great. Denuvo is sh**t.

GG Sega. Ruined possibly the greatest Sonic game ever with this crapware and tried to hide it. Fk you for treating your customers like this. Take this downvote.

I recommend this game. I recommend it, but not without reservations. It's a pretty good game -overall-, but the feel of the game is definitely not consistent throughout it's entirety.

As a lover of the old Resident Evils, I was very pleasantly surprised with the beginning of the game. I've told friends things like "It feels like the old RE games just with a first person perspective" after my initial hours of play. The beginning has lots of tension, creepy atmosphere, and does a great job of keeping you on your toes when opening doors and going around corners. It really feels like a great survival horror game.

However, that feeling doesn't last after the mid-way ish point of the game. After you reach that point, it starts feeling less like RE 1-3 and more like RE 4-6. It simply stops being scary and becomes actiony. That being said, it didn't really have any of the ridiculous over-the-top sequences like Chris punching a boulder into lava in RE5, but it does lose a lot of the tension and creepy atmosphere that the beginning hours of the game brought with it.

My personal rating:

1st half: 9/10. Great survival horror. Tension, atmosphere, and pacing are fairly well done.
2nd half: 7/10. Average action based gameplay. Feels like it could've been better and a bit less drawn out.
Average those out to an 8/10. Worth at least an initial playthrough and maybe more depending on your tastes / experience.

Almost 400 hours into the game, I think I have a decent grasp on whether or not this is a good game.

The game is decent, but good lord the hackers and script kiddies ruin this game. The cheating is so prevalent that Rockstar has instituted a draconian ban detection system that bans innocent players. I got banned while running missions with a friend (who somehow didnt get banned as well?) for a week and a half. Im not waiting out this ban just to get unfairly banned again in the future. Instantly uninstalled the game and will not play again. I do not cheat in games and take it personally when I'm accused of it.

TL;DR - game is decent, but the level of cheaters absolutely ruins it. If you buy, don't get surprised if you get hacked or get banned without reason.

Terrible terrible port. Takes ages to load up, puts crap on your c: drive, crashes constantly. I can't even get to the config menu on the title screen without it crashing on me.

I played the Gamecube release and loved it. I was looking forward to playing it again, but I can't even do that. This game won't let me.

Advise against buying at this point. Completely broken mess and even adds unneccessary writes to your hard drive from the DRM (bad for people with SSDs). How this got approved for release in this state is beyond me.

EDIT (2/29/16): The 2/29 update removed a major obstacle in the fixing of this game by the modding community: VMProtect. No more sec.tmp crashes, no more unnecessary writes to the HD, better performance. Seems Bamco actually started listening to the community and realized that it was only pissing off legit buyers. The game runs a lot faster now and looks great with Kaldaien's TSFix mod. No 60fps yet, but a huge barrier has been removed. I have changed my review to positive because this game is great and after the removal of VMP, it deserves it.

If you do buy this game, definitely check out the TSFix mod from Kaldaien. I probably wouldn't have even started playing this version if it weren't for that.

Early Access Review
Fans of the first Killing Floor: GET THIS GAME! It's only a playable Beta at the moment, but I'm really enjoying what I'm seeing so far. Plays a lot like the first one, but MUCH prettier. Seems really smooth; the gameplay still has that exciting "OH CRAP!" factor. The things I loved about the first game are definitely showing up so far in the second, even in the early access version.

One of the best games in the series (coincidentally the first one) gets a major HD update. Fans of the original collectively wet their pants when they heard Capcom was doing an HD retexturing. REmake was beautiful when it came out in 2002, but this version is just godlike. Same gameplay, same style, just updated HD textures. Forget about the new control scheme, it's garbage. Thankfully Capcom left in the tank controls that the series originally shipped with.

If you're new to the old-style RE games, do yourself a favor and familiarize yourself with the tank controls. The new one is horrible. Since the new controls depend on where you're at on screen, when you change camera angles it gets all sorts of messed up. I tried the new controls and found it impossible to dodge enemies that I had no problem dodging before. In certain areas it might be beneficial, but who wants to keep switching controls over and over again during gameplay?

Enough complaining though. My one complaint is negated by the fact that it's moot if you choose an alternate setting. Either way enjoy the creepy ambiance, beautifully rendered scenes and hordes of twisted abominations gunning for your throat.

Here's hoping Capcom does the same thing with RE2.

This game is amazing. I've been a fan of first person dungeon crawlers since the AD&D days in the 90s. I loved the first Legend of Grimrock but the sequel adds so much it's mind-blowing. The devs improved on almost every aspect of this game (except for simplifying the skills, but I can get over that). If you liked LoG1, GET THIS GAME. A lot of the gripes about LoG1 are fixed in the sequel. HIGHLY recommended. I've played this game so much since release that I've begun speedrunning it.

Awesome gameplay, funny dialog, really fun to play with friends. Combines the best of a shooter with the loot of an action-rpg. My game of the year for 2012.

If you like old school dungeon crawlers like D&D Eye of the Beholder, GET THIS! I had so much fun running this game. Plus with the Steam Workshop you have community made maps and mods for extended replay value.
