One of the best pvp couch game's I ever played. If you can't play locally, use parsec to play online. Doing that will make it so only one player has to own the game.

For $15, this game is worth it if you got friends to play with. Other wise wait for a sale.

Just wish the developers would continue to add content but seems to be abandon. Don't let that stop you from enjoying this game though.

Based on the board game, it's fun to play. The video game makes it more easy to track and understand what's going on so it's great for beginners.

The season pass is just a "skin" / "overlay" where it replaces the board (locations), characters, and weapon's looks and names for that player using it. That means it's client (player) side so the other players don't see the same thing unless they also have the pass and selected the same map. This can lead to some confusion (assuming your playing with voice chat) on some things as the weapon and location names will be different for the players who didn't select the same map. This is honesty the only flaw with this game other then the hard bots being almost mind readers.

Overall, it's just about the same as playing the board game just with visuals. Everyone has to own the game to connect but that's standard for any multiplayer game.

And hey, it's eco friendly. Your not using real paper for notes compared to if you played the real game.

Honestly wish I played .4 hours less to refund this game. To this day the developers still won't fix game breaking bugs that everyone knows about. Trying to play PVP without everything just dying because people are abusing the bugs is just a nightmare. It's only worth to play this PVE but the DLC, time investment, and getting a group together you trust enough is just not worth the effort of doing or paying for.

It sucks because the game play and theme of this game is great, just it's another game that basic mechanical problems that could be fixed if the developers showed it better love and didn't greed.

Honestly the best video game card game I ever played. Has good replayability with kaycee's mod which is now an extension the game comes with.

Any other things I can say about it would be spoilers. Best to go in this game dark.

A classic that to this day no other zombie game like it can beat. Just wish they continue releasing content for it but the community keeps this going strong.

The story is good and still holds up to this day. Online is fun with friends but a bit grindy for money to get things.

Just expect to deal with cheaters online by swapping lobby's or going to a friends only session. Reporting doesn't remove them from the lobby and most of them have anti kick cheats on so best to avoid and move on. It's the only major downside to this game.

But hey, every time there is a new patch, most of the cheaters are gone for a while so play on day one patch days for best results.

First off, I suggest Edopro before this. It's 100% free, open source, and has all the cards including pre-released. It also has a mobile version and you don't need to unlock cards. It's made by the Project Ignis team and while it doesn't have the visual's this game has nor the large as player base, nor ranked, it's at least it has tag duels, a better deck search, anime cards, and better customize options. (You can change the background, card backs, and even card images to whatever you want) Google it and join their discord as I'm quite sure I cannot link it here.

Also another note: I highly suggest reading reviews like this one and do research before playing. Soon you make an account, it's tied to your steam account and means that if you didn't like the start you had / made mistakes on spending your gems, your stuck with it until you can contact konami support and get them to unlink it. Good luck contacting them as I did on day one for the switch version and still haven't got any news back or the account del yet.

For a free to play game, it isn't that bad. It could be better. Just know getting into this, you have to unlock cards with gems, which can be earned but after the first 2-3 weeks, you be lucky to earn more then 200 gems a day. To compare, 1 pack is 100 gems, and 10 packs is 1000 gems. Opening 10 packs gives you an 100% to earn a SR card so its better to save up and buy in bulk. More on this later.

If you just want to get into the game right away with a good deck, either expect spending money or go google Edopro and play. Your going to be dueling either on solo mode or with deck's you don't wish to duel with in the start for a while. It's best to pre-build a deck as a goal so you know what pack's to pull but unless you been playing this game for a while, your going to need to google some high tier decks. Problem is you still might not have fun as most high tier decks are combo heavy and require knowing it a bit inside and out. The card game itself isn't friendly for newer players and that shows harder here. It's solo mode does help a bit for newer players and does grant full decks like gem knights which aren't bad at all but prepare to lose more then you win at the start.

Speaking of high tier decks, expect playing vs them often. Since only way to face random people right now is ranked duel, this will happen sooner then later. Because of this, the game might feel dull fighting the same type of decks over and over. Sadly that's master duel's fault, that's the state of yugioh atm. Consistent plays wins games and that means doing the same thing over and over sometimes, even to point where the other player is just sitting there waiting for over 5 mins while the other plays solitaire. Expect to browse on your phone or watch something on the side while it's your opponents turn while you have no negates or traps. Again, this isn't a problem with master duel, this is just yugioh. Most duels don't go past 5 turns. 4 if your lucky. Only fault master duel has here is the animations make this drag on longer.

What is for sure master duel's fault is the reward system it currently has. As it stand now in Feb 3, 2022, there is no rank rewards for when the session changes. This means the game is more rewarding the less your rank is at the end of the month as there is rank up rewards and having a lower rank means more chances to rank up and get rewards. Konami is aware of this as they stated on their "issue" announcements but hasn't corrected it as of yet and everyone who joined and played this game last month so far has been shafted if you hit plat rank. It's more rewarding to lose over and over to lower your rank then rank up which means smurfs with high tier decks everywhere.
It also doesn't help the banlist has quite a few flaws in it and allows such consistent board negates like VFD, super good board protection like Simorgh, and cards that can loop until you can FTK like Union Carrier and Cyber-Stein. The list is based on an odd version of a OCG list but even OCG has all cards I mention here banned or under control better. If that bother's you, don't play this game until they update the list.

It's also not that rewarding to win duels or stay in them if you haven't done much yet. You get points at the end of duels that have a chance to grant small amount of gems (between 1-25 is what I seen so far) which is a rare chance to happen, and the more likely chance to gain an "legacy pack", which is a free card pack that grants 1-3 old cards, most of which are useless like most of the normal monsters they grant, or are only worth for older style decks like blue-eyes and you cannot dismantle these cards at all for their crafting system. (More on that in a minute) The amount of points given are based on what you did in the duel like activating spell cards, winning with low lp's, etc. This means however if your vs an FTK or OTK deck and couldn't play any cards or your cards got negated, you will not gain any points at all. Because of this, I heavy suggest just surrendering when you know your going to get FTK. This shouldn't be the case but sadly it is. Right now no compensation for getting destroyed and wasting your time.

As for the crafting system, as I said above, it would be much better if you can dismantle the free packs and decks. It isn't perfect but if you pre-build / know what exact deck you want at start, with the free gems at start and first 2 weeks, you should be able to make it unless the entire deck is made out of UR's. The crafting systems goes from N, R, SR, UR and some reasons R's are more common then N's.
What is more sad however is most staple cards you need are UR's, specially hand traps like maxx 'c', ash, and infinite impermanence, and those 3 I mention are an NEED. Like if your not packing at least 3 copys of one of those 3 in your deck, you will get FTK/OTKed often. Handtraps are an necessary evil in yugioh but gaining them here in master duel is almost impossible without paying and/or crafting. I say and because the gacha for UR's are low chance, and unless your willing to make a sacrifice for an future deck idea and dismantle 3 UR's for 1 UR, your gonna have to get a lot of gems and get some UR's you don't want just to dismantle 3 for one. Could you play without them? Sure, you could get away with it but sooner or later your going to regret not having one. This would be much better if trading was a thing.
At least for the start, you can get away with some R staple trap cards for a while like fiendish chain, torrential tribute, and compulsory. If this review hasn't got you to not play the game, I highly suggest grabbing the above.

Overall, this game isn't perfect. Will I still add hours to it? Yea. I got 2 decks I wanted. One for climbing and one for friend dueling but this game needs more work. Sadly that seems to be the theme of game releases now days.

TLDR: Try edopro, do research before playing, and hope this game improves soon.

If you got a group of friends (yourself + 4 others), this game is perfectly fine when using the custom game option. Even if you don't got the best group, the lower skill level / playing is overall more fun. You can still do custom games with 4 friends or less and it will lower the required generators for balance and you can pick whatever perks you want, removing the grind normal games want you to do.

That is the only good thing I can say for this game. If your fine with just custom games with friends, don't read past here.

When you play multiplayer online is when you will run into the core problems with this game. The blood point system to get perks is such a grind that it will take you weeks to get the right setup you want. Playing this game alone is much worse, much more so as the killer. Without much perks at start, you will most likely get no kills for a while. Perks are an necessary evil in the game as the killer and without at least one perk to slow down generator process, you will get no where and get hardly any blood points per round to point of rage quitting. Even if you got the right setup, the survivors have the upper hand most of the time due to their perks and if your vs a organized team, you got no chance at all.

This is not to mention that only 4 killers are given at start. You want more? Gotta pay for them. That also means the perks with the newer killers cannot be accessed until you pay for them and then work on them via blood points. Expect if you buy this game, to buy at least $40 worth of DLC just to have a chance of enjoying it.

So the developers could fix the generator issue by raising the time so you don't need to focus perks, and make the grind less right? Make DLC cheaper? Have more perks at start? Nope. Don't expect them to fix anything on balance or in general of their game if issue raise. There was a issue not to long ago where everyone lost their process on blood points and they only give like a small handful and said sorry. Not to mention their easyanticheat system doesn't really stop hackers but will stop linux users from playing the game, even though steam at this point has enabled a simple button to press to enable it for linux users vs EAC. All they gotta do is press this button and they have refused to at this time. Nothing says your more lazy then not pressing a single button that helps your player base.

Oh also if you get targeted, camped, tunneled, or overall just hardly get to do anything other then run, get hooked, and have the killer watch you on the hook until you die, this is not a reportable offence. No really, it's not. The developers deemed this type of game play okay to do. You can see the "game rules" on what is reportable or not here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/kb/articles/139-game-rules

You might be asking yourself, "What does this mean?". It means for whatever the killer deems reasonable to target / camp / tunnel you, he can do it and get away with it. It's a fact those who play survivors gonna have to deal with despite sometimes I see those reasons being the character wearing the pride flag, playing a certain character, and/or because maybe they BMed the killer in a way. It's gonna happen if you play online and the best you can do to deal with it is just hold on long as you can and hope the other survivors work on gens because the amount of time for one camp tends to cost the killer to get no other kills.

For some people (mainly killer mains) might be asking "Well it's a good strategy" or "The survivor pissed me off that's why". Guess what, I'm a killer main too and I know that camping sometimes happens on accident or can be the right call if all the other guys are just running to unhook and not doing gens. Doesn't mean it's right to hook someone, stand so close, your face is in their crotch, and hit them over and over until they die. There is NO justified reason you can give for this. There is NO justified reason to facecamp. Period. The amount of times I seen this happen is just stupid and suck that the developers will not fix this toxic type of game play despite it causing the community to become toxic.

"Well if the game is heavy survivor based and your telling me to not camp, how as a Killer is meant to get a kill?". It's simple, expect not to get a kill every game. It's a game with real people and unless you want to spend hours grinding BP to "learn" perks, expect getting teabagged a lot until you put the time into it to find your playstyle / killer main. The only good part of playing killer rather then survivor is the blood point gain is much easier.

And that's where this loops back to the start of this review. The system is a heavy grand and honestly there is better games out there and the alternatives are coming like Video Horror Society that's going to be free to play. Only real fun you might have with this game is with playing with a total group of 5 people and doing customs. Maybe even 4 if you want to take a chance with a toxic killer.

Overall, don't buy this game unless your fine with custom games, which give all the perks for every killer and player for free without owning them. If you want to play a game like this, check out the VHS game that's on closed beta at the time of this review but is going to be 100% free. For those who may see my game time a lot larger since review, it's because I play with family a lot and once in a while I dive into multiplayer hell.

If John Wick went banana's.

Good game. Short if your not looking to 100% the game. Works on Linux via Photon just fine.
