I played the old JA2 for hundreds of hours and have tried JA Online, Crossfire and Wildfire to recapture that level of engagement, detail and enjoyment without much success. This game succeeds where the others did not and with 200hrs I already know I will replay this with different mercs and a higher difficulty. It is not perfect but it is very very good. I bought this at full price which I don't do for most games and it is well worth the money for someone who likes this genre. I rarely write reviews but this game stands out enough to merit one.

Mods from the Steam Workshop and the dungeon editor have given this game a superb level of replayability.

Well worth the money. Same initial feeling with the world immersion that I got with Morrowind.

OpenIV, the main source of mods for this game and other GTA games, has been shut down due to Take Two Interactive's Cease-and-Desist. Therefore the most fun you could get from this game may soon be illegal. As such it is no longer worth buying.

Take2Interactive removing mod access from this game reduces its value and replayability to a point where I would no longer recommend buying it.

With OpenIV modding removed this game is not worth purchasing. Take2Interactive removed a lot of the value and replayability from this title.

Early Access Review
Despite the high ping and some early access glitches, I am enjoying myself.
There are also plenty of bugs but I am enjoying myself.
This cost me £8 in a sale and I have already had my money's worth (that's less than the price of two pints of beer where I live).
If I weigh up how much it cost vs how much fun I have had so far then it was a decent purchase.

Lots of potential but a real disappointment.

The RTS side of the game was it's point of difference over similar games like Day of Defeat or Red Orchestra/Rising Sun, however the developers have neglected this side of their game and focused on game mechanics that milk players of every last drop of cash milk.

I have around 800 hours played (you used to be able to run the game in a browser without using Steam) and have come back to the game several times.
The game used to have flaws but was fun.
The biggest changes I noticed when I came back to look at the game most recently was that the grind has become huge and that the matches I played were not fun.
Prices for all equipment items require hours of grinding.
This grinding is not fun.

I doubt I will be coming back to play again, even though I have most of the top end equipment, over 30 soldiers spread over 3 factions and a full array of Generals and ATs (assault teams) on them.
It is just not fun to play any more.
