Exceptionally boring game, sadly.

Wanted to love it and get lost in exploring space but just couldn't. Launch marred with technical issues, bad UI, and grinding down space exploration to a series of cutscenes you watch over and over creates only tedium not wonder. Coupled with that; the game feels dated in terms of its scope, reach, gameplay and goals. Its been done better before it even released.

Highly recommend avoiding. It's unlikely you'll get your moneys worth.

I appreciate them trying something a bit different, but sadly it just isn't very good. It also runs terribly on PC despite some patching to try and fix it.

The style is nice, the music is pleasant, and the voice acting does a great job of riding the line between annoying and endearing... but this doesn't excuse the performance issues, boring powers, lacking guns, flawed invasion mechanic that utterly grinds things to a halt, and a tedious gameplay loop full of comically unlikeable characters.

Great little game. Decent sense of humour and a good, albeit slightly garbled, message that gets cleared up at the end. Recommended!

Much like the first game, I greatly enjoyed playing through this. Highly recommended!

Utterly unfathomable way to integrate DLC that makes it tedious, boring and ultimately not worth the effort.

A low cost but also very low effort spin-off game with unlikable characters forced upon you rather than letting you craft a squad of your own to take on missions. Had frequent issues with crashes and one mission where a squad member was pulled out of bounds of the map making them uncontrollable. The breach mechanic is fun until you keep getting nothing but breach options with negative debuffs to your squad via RNG that you can do nothing about.

The low price the game is offered for does not make me forgive the technical issues I had with it but YMMV. There is also very little semblance of balance to some missions either in or against your favour. Just play XCOM2: WotC instead or wait for XCOM 3.

This game is a wonderful co-op experience in which you can chill out, mine, and have inane discussions about anime, Marvel movies and whether or not the asteroid you visit infested with Hoxxes does or does not have a gravitational pull on the space around the station. These are important things.
