Basically, X-Com Lite. Not the best but still good if you're a fan of X-Com

I think "Baby's first XCOM" is a fair assessment of this game. On its own, it's enjoyable enough. I like the idea of playing as the aliens as well in a post-wat integrated Earth. But I feel there was some wasted potential in the idea of "XCOM but it's the police." Like, if instead of commanding a small SWAT team, you'd command an entire precinct.
What's the point of making the characters have names and be more fleshed-out when they're not involved with the story at all? The banter moments in HQ are fun, I enjoyed it, but other than that they might as well be the usual XCOM soldiers who simply go into missions and do the job; the backstory you make up in your head for them, just from a name and a nationality, is almost on the same level as the squadmates here. The plot is a nothingburger as well; it pretty much has the same depth as the EXALT plotline in XCOM.
Still, it was a fun time for what it is. I just hope that if they plan to iterate more on the concept they'll expand on it.
