It's not as random as you think it is.

Nothing happens for 5 hours then after hour 6 you get a cliffhanger.
(After playing through Tape 2, point still stands. Also the music is strangely crappy.)

It's quite a challenging game until you find out that Photochad exists.

It's a (much) less good Return of the Obra Dinn.
It starts off pretty strong and then sort of falls off a cliff both in terms of the story and how interesting the puzzles are.
Still, a reasonably enjoyable few hours even if it can't hold a candle to the game it's clearly inspired by.

Arty farty, contrived, pretentious, cliche.
All of these are words appropriate to describe GRIS, and I still liked it.

Started off going in a pretty interesting direction, then descended into pure idiocy.

Plus, like all Telltale games, your choices are fake and don't actually matter. The detective-y stuff is quite well done mind you, but there isn't enough of it.
