it can be compared to its direct analog, Pokemon. I pulled up the old maps just to be sure I was correct in quoting the 50% forced battle numbers. The opening of a game is key to settings its tone and while it may ease up later, the combination of a claustrophobic opening segment along with the looming 2 hour refund deadline in the midst of the server issues was enough for me to bail for now. I hope the game goes on to see improvements though.
And it doesn't take multiple areas to get frustrated with the pacing. Like I said, they favored forced fights over and over vs more exploratory and organic fight pacing. It isn't a deal breaker, it's not why I refunded, but I didn't enjoy it so why wouldn't I mention it in my review with my opinion of the game?
Isn't it also a bit too early to call those pacing issues? Maybe it truly has pacing issues but that's just bit weird to call it pacing issues after the first area, lol.
