Would I recommend it?

Well it's now in top three Like A Dragon games for me, so if that doesn't answer your question I don't know what else to tell you. Fantastic writing, Agent style is really fun to play as and really excellent boss fights on top of decent amount of activities. It seems short on amount of chapter wise (5 chapters) but honestly the story length is decent (12h I'd say) and there's always side stuff to do and they're all fun.

Honestly, if you're Yakuza/Like A Dragon fan and haven't played this one yet, do consider this! It's fantastic, as I said over and over again ha.

Short Review - Recommend, will note that it does feel clunky as it's PS3 game remastered, and the combat isn't good as other games due to sponge enemies with too much defence that can be miserable to put up on top of some weird additions to the series that didn't work out well. I just have soft spot for this game and the story as well what it offers still makes for good time.

Yakuza 3 was the first one that the series went full 3D camera as the original two games had camera that sort-of behaves like Resident Evil games so you can't use camera to look around the environment. So when I first played Yakuza 3 after playing through the originals I was awed at how many people there were walking through the streets and I could move camera around to look not only around, but upwards and downwards. I was blown away with it. Of course, now it's been years since the original release it may not seem like impressive feat at all, but to me I'll never forget that.

The story and side activities was main factor in how much I love Yakuza 3 - because I'll be honest, the combat is not great as it was. More so if you've played through Yakuza Zero and Kiwami, it feels like too simple on top of how... well, hard-to-break guarded enemies (and oh god all of them guards) so battles felt like they drag out so much that I ended up trying to avoid combat unless needed once I've grinded a little. It's not all bad, there are fun moments just I can see why people would felt put off by doing it. Hell, I won't blame you if you want to put on Easy difficulty, even Normal has issues (I played through Normal and Hard, and I... wouldn't recommend doing it on Hard, haha.)

Still, you can't make me not love Yakuza 3 - not only because of feat it impacted on me back then, it's due to the story as well the new city that I actually really like exploring a lot in. So yes, I would recommend it as it just shows its age by being one of early PS3 games and you can feel clunkyness of it especially more so after playing through Yakuza 0... but if you want more Yakuza after having played through few, then I think I can recommend this if only because story is also good. Not best but still very solid.

Short Version - Very recommended. If you're been wanting to play Yakuza series but unsure where to start with, this is the game for you. I've played through it on Xbox to end, and been playing off and on doing things towards full completion on PC and I've enjoyed every second of it. It's genuinely one of best Yakuza/Like A Dragon games, and you can't go wrong with starting out with this entry.

I'll start by saying that Yakuza 0 might be top three, if not first of my favourite Yakuza/Like A Dragon games thanks to brilliant writing, cast of characters that would appear in later games and it also really captures the feeling of early 1980's - not only in culture but also technology, and you get to experience the start of Kiryu's journey as well also Goro's. They play very differently to each other and has their own substories, activities, and cities to explore in and on top of it they have three styles of battles so it doesn't get stale quick when you're going through the battles. Hell, if anything Goro himself is what makes many of us love Yakuza 0 - and rightfully so - he's very fun character which makes for excellent time.

With it being prequel to original Yakuza, the entry where Nishikiyama is main antagonist of, it gives players how much Kiryu and Nishi cares about each other as if you were playing through original back then there wasn't much room to work with but this adds more to how close they were thanks to Yakuza 0 (and Kiwami also added more to that, but that's not main point of the review). The writing really makes me care for characters more and more - essentially wanting to find out what happens next in story as I go through the game, which probably didn't help that I end up getting distracted and do side stuff. Which there is A LOT of - its all completely optional, the game on its own isn't long game, can be finished with the story 12-15 hours in but honestly I'd at least suggest to do substories too if only because they add so much and is also canon since most of them showcase their personalities and there are genuinely funny ones as well heartwarming ones.

I can go on and go on about this game and how much I love the game so I'll just end it here, but I will say this is fantastic entry to start with if you've been wanting to get into Like A Dragon series. If I have to say what things I didn't like about it there are some sections I'm not too keen on as well the Disco activity, I genuinely do not like disco at all in this game. But that's it. Everything else is amazing.

Short version: Highly recommended, some issues holds it back from completely amazing experience but another very solid entry in the series. Deffo give this a look if you're fan of Like A Dragon series and/or turn-based JRPGs with class change system.

Another solid entry of Like A Dragon series, with a new twist that battles are now turn-based RPG like Dragon Quest with new cast of characters that you play as. Initially, I was mixed on the turn based battles after having been used to older games, I felt that freedom wasn't there... until that I've played more it's growing a lot on me. Even though I'm fed up of encounters by random spawn when I just wanted to explore the damn city, haha.

However, I must say that it has few flaws that I would like to see improved - like characters' placement. It feels like lot of luck on auto placement for lining up your area of effect attacks, and I've ended up wasting item that damages enemy because one of my party members walked into and took the hit instead of target it was intended for. I felt like some battles drag for too long and I don't mean main story boss fights, I mean like there'd be one or two and somehow they have most resistances except Cold and there aren't many cold-focused attack/magic in this game so I was just mashing to get it over and done with. Boss fights are amazing though (with exception of one that I had to look up how to overcome it...)

I was expecting the jobs(classes) to have some of wackness that Yakuza series offers, but they felt like your standard RPG classes but I'll say that's on me for having my expectations high. I also wish it'd give me more than two actions from each job to pass over, or at least let me pick what ones I want to include. The fact I can't change job freely and have to go to specific spot every time I need to was bit frustrating, and there are jobs I wasn't fan of due to their pool of moves lacking - however, it's not all bad as it captures what I love about Final Fantasy 3&5 - be able to level multiple jobs and stat boosts as well some of cross-job skills are genuinely good and there are amazing jobs like Dealer and Breaker.

As usual, substories are there - I do wish there was more, but what was there was decent enough. Some genuine great moments that made me laugh a lot, and there were genuine touching moments too. Ichi as protag also helps a lot, compared toKiryu he's lot more sillier but also very cool. He's deffo jumped up to one of my favourite characters and the banter with the party during the game was amazing. Minigames and other activities are great too, save for Dragon Kart. I thought Dragon Kart was pretty naff due to handling that once I got better handling car it was more bearable... but that's only one thing I don't like over other activites that the game has to offer.

I do hope next game improves lot of the issues, but for what is their first take on turn-based JRPG for Like A Dragon series, they did great job and I'm looking forward to what they can bring in Infinite Wealth.

But all in all, I can recommend this especially to long-term Yakuza/Like A Dragon fans (some of you might need take more time to get used to shift in combat system) and/or those who likes turn-based JRPG games, especially Dragon Quest series (which you'll hear it being mentioned few times in the game, too).

It's very, very short but I really liked it. I thought for the price I had decent time with it; was fun working out getting all endings and seeing what choices lead to.

This game made me let out laugh in middle of gameplay more than I could count, and on top of it there's actually game behind it. The challenges aren't too tough, but it was fun doing them and there has been moments where it's just funny.

Friend gifted it to me, but at that price if you like how silly it looks, there's chance you'll like it.

When I saw this when I was looking at horror games on Youtube, I saw Nightmare Zapping on itch.io and it looked interesting so I bought it which also gave me Steam key.

Having finished it just now it's very interesting experience. I don't feel like it's game at all, since I don't feel like you're in control of anything save very few things but overall the experience was cool enough to see all way to the end. So I'm glad I gave it a shot and can recommend it if you like the look of the game!

I'm huge fan of classic Resident Evil games, so when I saw this game was going to be out, I was really hyped for it and now having played it I can say this is one of my favourite games that's released this year (2024). I knew I was going to like it, but I didn't expect to love it *very* much. Even after getting last achievement I've went through it few times, managed to get S+ rank on Normal difficulty, and having just finished my first run of newly added Murder of Crows (Hard mode), I'm just finding more reasons to play more of this. It's just wonderful game - I loved the setting, the areas, the story as well the twist at the end, and small remarks from main character when you interact with environment.

If I can be little picky though, not too fan of aiming myself as well one of secrets that I thought was poor design but it didn't stop me putting this in top five, if not top three games I've played this year.

Lowkey would love another game like this from same developer!

Early Access Review
What I expected: a cozy game where I sell cards to customers and look at pretty art
What I actually got: That, but with smelly customers that you gotta use deodorant to spray the smells away and anxiety as you try to do things as these soul-sucking eyes stare at your shop desk as you try to shove these card packets into shelves and oh god I accidently threw this box and oh god more people wanting to play and oh god oh god make it stop make it stop

In seriousness, it's good game! Just takes a bit to get used to it but it's cozy simulator. That can be anxiety-causing. Plus you get to spray at smelly customers without getting in trouble.

Having playing through Grim Dawn (and still enjoying it), I've been curious about other ARPGs that are available on Steam and I saw this with most of DLC for under £2. I figured why not, I'll give it a playthrough.

Ended up liking it more than I thought - sure, it's not up there with likes of Diablo 2/3, Grim Dawn and PoE but I went in knowing that anyway and what I got was fun action rpg to get lost into. Ended up beating it four times (melee, ranged, caster DLC, summoner/ranged DLC) and enjoyed it... I do wish it has more locations where it takes place in wilds - first half of the game was enjoyable then from that it's been at city/tunnels/caves, which is kind of shame but given the context it makes sense.

Difficulty is weird, it can be brutal at times but I won't say it's difficult at all, I've done it on Heroic twice and it was fun trying to set up a build that works well in the current playthrough but man some of encounters can be rather havoc, making me go "how the hell do people play Hardcore manage to overcome that", haha. (I've not tried Hardcore mode and I don't feel like doing it at the moment)

There's some annoyances though, like if you want to change resoultion or change from KBM to controller and back/forth, you have to re-boot the game. Plus there's no 1920*1080 for window borderless which meant it had weird ass borders on sides and clicking outside of it makes it weird, so I just went for 1280*800 windowed so I can play and tab at ease.

There's also some really annoying bugs, like trying to send your AI to shops to sell off loot - when playing on controller - freezes the game and I have to Alt+F4 to reload the game.

Other than that, in sale I can really recommend the bundle. Granted, Final Cut exists, but this also has its own achievement list which I had fun trying to get as many as I can (500k kills though, I think I will not attempt that... 61 hours in and I've only got 50k kills.)
