It's not a good ol' civ game anymore. But it's still a good civ game.
UI is trash. Icons, banners, etc., are trash. Balance is trash. The achievements list is trash. And so on and on and on.
Yet, developers wanted to fix the problem of uncompleted games, make online games more fun, and so on. They did it well. I've finished more games in 40 hours than in previous games. Optimization is also good.
Currently, it's not a replacement for Civ6 for me due to a lack of core mechanics, but as always, it's a Firaxis. Let them cook for half of the year, and it will likely seem and feel much, much better. At least, it's much more enjoyable to play than Humankind or other wanna-be-civ games.

This game is good in terms of how it feels and looks and reminds us of those school hack-and-slash games from our childhood, with many good features on top.

BUT.

Let's be honest - it's not a stand-alone game. I mean, no one sane will spend thousands of hours to grind another a bit better weapon in terms of +1-2 stats above. The provided trading system is pure junk. Thus, it's easier to use third-party tools and plugins to participate in an auction, which is a CRUCIAL part of this game.
Moreover, you will likely face those "hardcore" players who play their own game. "Hardcore or never played" and shouts like that. But when you die - you don't lose your character. Players consider them dead by playing their own rules.
This huge passive tree looks like you have infinite ways to play the game, but if you go a completely flexible way, you will likely struggle in the end game, which is tedious and repetitive.
Optimization is not good either. And so on.

It was exciting for me till the end of the game, likely even less until I completed the campaign. Not afterwards. It becomes a grind for faster and more efficient grind afterward. I'm a pretty casual player. I'm not rushing those leaderboards or seeking those more significant numbers as the final goal. Thus, I rated this game as one I do not recommend. And yet, I do not recommend it for players like me. My antipodes should definitely go for it. And before you buy, you'd better check how to "play" this game.

Expand the cult.
Let the members ♥♥♥♥ around.
Use the ♥♥♥♥ to build new houses and grow some food.
Sacrifice the oldies to buff the morale and loyalty of your cult.
Resurrect the dead to make the cult happy.
Let them ♥♥♥♥ again.
Use the ♥♥♥♥ to build even more houses and grow even more food.
Kill the resurrected ones again and respawn as your personal demon assistants.
Best resource management simulator ever.

Missing fast travels made this game way too hard to get all achievements (my playtime doesn't match because I played originally in EA Origin), but that was worth the time. The echoes deep into the story and highlights some missing Order 66 follow-ups from the movies or TV series (easter eggs included).

Generally, the gameplay, setting, and story are just great. The main protagonist is fine, but sometimes he is way too naive (gladly he's more mature in the sequel). So, this game is a good trilogy opening with nicely adopted Sould-like mechanics in the challenging Star Wars reality of post-order-66.

Has my bullet ever reached the target? I guess, yes, because I saw the enemy hp bar decreasing.
Dunno why they added such a paywall when even the hit registration doesn't work properly in the FPS game. I'd fire some of the designers and better hire more devs.

"Like" just to support Ukrainian game dev, no more, no less. But honestly, don't waste your time.

Still the best game with mechs.

And Heavy Metal DLC totally worth it.

I hate Souls-like games, but this game is something different. 100 hrs+ on Xbox and I still can't get enough.

P.S. This game is not compatible with widescreen monitors and is locked at 60 fps. Maybe third-party modes will help you ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
