This is one of those rare games that just gets it right. It's fun, it's addictive, it's not overly complicated. It's not too fast, nor too slow. You can play it your way. And there are a plethora (thank you Mr. Spock) of really good mods out there. After 2500 hours in game I'm still not there yet.

I would give this zero of five stars. Why? Because the game sucks? No. Because bad graphics? No. Because bugs in the game? No. Because the EA APP IS AN UTTER PIECE OF ♥♥♥♥♥. The world would be a much better place if not for the EA App. You thought Origin was bad? The EA App is far worse. Get rid of the EA App and I'd rate this 5/5 easily.

They abandoned the Linux version, and only the Winbloze version gets update. If you run Linux you will be stuck with an old version. Avoid this like the plague.

This game is great! The problem is the EA App. It's worse that Origin, and the game just refuses to run.

I'm sure this game is a lot of fun. Yet, I have a high end system and with graphics set to low, this still lags so badly you would never survive in a p2p environment. BL2 and Bl3 are as smooth as can be, but this game? Performance is so bad it's not playable.

It looks good. It sounds good. It's a boat load of fun (pun intended). I really enjoy just rafting around the ocean and exploring the islands. The story line isn't bad. But in the end it's maybe 3.5/5 stars. There just isn't that much to do, and after a while you have seen all there is to see and gone everywhere there is to go. If you can get it on sale, do so. It's worth it. Just don't expect to be able to spend 1000 hours playing it.

This game is seriously fun. Not as good as Borderlands 2, but close. Similar game mechanics, etc. It could use a few more characters to choose from, but the ones that are available get the job done. BUT I give it a negative rating because it seems the main game is little more than a demo with pay walls everywhere for the (horribly over priced) DLCs. Not enough content unless you spend a LOT of money on DLCs. When they offer a reasonably priced all-in-one DLC package, I'll buy it and quit complaining. Until them, my money stays in my pocket and I'm off to play something else.

Take The Sims 3. Improve graphics. Improve loading times. And take away the things that made it fun. Than make Origin a requirement. I really want to like this, but between Origin and all the things they removed, this game is a disaster. Stick with The Sims 3.

This is a short and to-the-point review:

Pros - seriously fun. Fun to build, fun to explore. Farming is lame, but building, rafting, etc. makes up for it. I've spent many fun filled hours doing exactly that. I love taming dions, riding paras, collecting doodoos, etc.

Cons - if you are running Linux or Mac, you will be very very frustrated. Every time they release an update, they release it for windows only and make Linux/Mac people wait a couple of weeks. That is a couple of weeks where you can't join any servers. Your base is gone. Your Dinos are gone. Your belongings - all gone. This is, for me a deal killer. I don't play anymore because of this.

August 2023 Update. Apparently nothing has changed. Their Linux support is still as piss poor as ever.

12/14/2017 Ragnarok appears to be in beta status. It looks like they reached about 75% complete and decided to release it. The terrain is rough and has the rolling effect that you get from procedurally generated arks, which gives it an amateurish look. A large chunk of land to the south east is blocked off, probably because they just haven’t finished it yet. The ocean surface does not render properly, and is not transparent like it is on the Island and the Center.

Overall it looks nice but it is woefully incomplete. We played it until we leveled up into the 30s and decided to go back to playing The Center. When they refine and finish Ragnarok, I'd live to come back and take a look at it. It does have great potential, it just needs to be refined and finished.
