I played the original version on console way back in 2009 and generally enjoyed the gameplay loop and mechanics, but I had some gripes with how inventory management and upgrades were handled. The GOTY edition was recently gifted to me so I thought I'd give the game another go for nostalgia sake. Despite a handful of bug fixes from the original release, I was disappointed to find that nearly half the inventory upgrades are STILL reliant on RNG. The storage upgrade quests in the General Knox DLC (both playthroughs) and base game 2nd playthrough still have a higher chance to reward a grenade mod instead of the storage upgrade. There's no quick save feature and the game auto-saves if you exit normally, so you have close the client and re-launch if you want to farm for the full storage capacity (which there's an achievement for). Most runbacks are thankfully short save for the DLC's, which take multiple minutes of running or driving due to lack of fast travel. This was obnoxious and frustrating in the original release and there's no reason for it to exist in a re-release, other than to disrespect and troll players. At least this is a PC version and it's easier to mod, but I'd rather not have to go out of my way to fix problems the developer should have addressed a long time ago.

Exactly what BL1 deserves. This is what a remaster/enhanced version should be! Takes an almost unbearable game and makes it fun even 15+ years after the original released. Having said that thank god the game can import your save so I was able to pick right up where I left off on the original release. Get it for 50% or 66% off if you can, not sure its really worth $30 anymore.

Borderlands GOTY Enhanced Edition is a letdown. The so-called enhancements come with poor optimization, frequent stutters, and performance drops that ruin the experience. Ironically, the original GOTY version runs smoother and feels more stable, making it the better choice despite being older.
