We're so back... Koei finally got it right this time with the Dynasty Warriors series. This is arguably the best DW since DW4.

The game is so well-done. The story, animations, voice acting, and gameplay are all solid. You can really tell the developers put a lot of passion into their work, and playing this game is an amazing experience that you will remember for a long time.

I was on the fence about getting this game because I had never gotten into a Souls-like game before, thinking they were too difficult. For someone like me, this is definitely Souls-esque, but not too bad. The main issue is overcoming panic dodging and understanding the key elements to combat, such as building focus, when to use light and heavy attacks, setting up a proper build for said attacks, and general situational awareness. With time, you start to understand that dying is inevitable the first time you play in order to understand enemy mechanics. It is rough playing at first with lack of abilities, but once you get more and get stronger, it becomes a lot more fun. When you first start, I would highly recommend focusing on leveling up Robust Constitution and Rampant Vigor since they increase health and stamina. This will make things a little easier. There is no cost to resetting your build points, so you can play with different builds and see what works best for you.

Overall, the game is beautiful, the combat is a fun hack and slash, the characters are interesting, and there is great satisfaction with leveling up Sun WuKong and getting new weapons and armor.

I came back after a year of not playing it since launch. I wanted to give it another chance after convincing myself to do so.

Final result: It's still as boring as ever. It just is. The game probably would have been more fun if it were more linear rather than just going back and forth doing mindless fetch quests. If this game is ever $20 or below, then MAYBE it's worth it. Even then, it just feels like a chore playing it.

The positive reviews are no joke. This is a great game with a lot of potential. As you play, your choices, actions, people who live or die, etc. can all influence the story and the people who you interact with. You can form your own parties and decide who stays in your group or who leaves depending on who you meet throughout your travels. There are tons of options when it comes to creating your ideal class and character, with a lot of base classes to choose from at the start. The world and characters all feel lively, and they immerse you in the story. The cut scenes and general animations are truly spectacular; The character designs, world designs, fight mechanics, versatility, music, and so much more should be what other game companies aspire to make -- which is pure quality. I thought Diablo IV was going to be my go-to game as far as this kind of genre goes, but this blows that out of the water for sure.

This is the backrooms I've been looking for. It's not a horror game straight away. The first couple of levels are just taking in the atmosphere that is the backrooms, as uneasy as it is by itself. The emptiness while wondering around with lights buzzing above your head; dead malls, slides that lead to who knows where, rooms filled with water, etc. really capture an almost dream-like state of being. The genius of it all is how you notice things changing more and more over time. Like when you enter a room and see a lone mannequin, only to see it has changed it's position when you reenter the room a second time. Then, once you dive deeper into the backrooms, you realize that you are being followed by someone, or some thing. The whole vibe is excellent, and is comparable to the backroom videos produced by Return to Render on YouTube. I personally enjoy the smooth and slow-pace flow to the game, and it also provides great screenshot opportunities.

At the current $9 price tag, I would say it's still a little pricey, but it may be worth it for people who really want to enjoy the backrooms vibe and want to explore while doing puzzles. I do hope there are more chapters coming in the future.

One of the best adventure games out there right now, comparable to the level of exploration as the Red Dead Redemption series. The team who worked on this did a solid job on the world with a tremendous amount of details. The whole environment seems alive with interactivity, and the scenery is beautiful. The moving pictures, the various dialogue interactions and events, the little items you can move, etc. all come together to create a truly unique experience and makes it feel like you are really part of the Harry Potter universe. Also, the fact that you can roam around Hogwarts castle and the surrounding areas without loading screens is a great touch that makes you just want to explore and helps to not break the immersion. There is so much to do and see with story quests and side quests available, as well as dungeons, puzzles, item collection, customization, and different scenarios for each house, which adds to the replayability. Even more, no pay-to-win or DLC microtransactions to ruin the experience. So far, the game has run without any hiccups or bugs after about 10 hours of gameplay. I can honestly say I am happy to have spent the money on this game and feel I have gotten my money's worth, as recent games have been lackluster to disappointing overall. Hogwarts Legacy has really set the bar about how games should be released.
