Shadow Warrior 2 is a much more refined and polished game compared to the first game and you can feel this after playing for ten seconds.
The gunplay is much improved over the previous entry and the movement is fluid. Graphics are nice and there's a lot of beautiful scenes in this game.

But the story and writing is awful. Even compared to the first game and although the first game was not known for good writing, it had a few good jokes and even -although badly presented- a decent story. This one tries too hard to be funny and takes itself seriously when it shouldn't and doesn't when it should! Dialogs are really bad and as someone who kinda enjoyed them from the previous game, I felt cringe by a lot of them.

The second big problem of this game is being bloated by half baked gameplay mechanics which are presented to the player on a bad pace. It's like the devs just shoved as much as they were able to shove in the game and it is just too much. Bullet spongy enemies make this problem worse, because there is no reason to use the game's mechanics. I played on hard difficulty and there was no reason to use most of the game's abilities. The previous Shadow Warrior had a lot of enemies which made me to use certain weapons and abilities on them and there were a lot of situations which forced me to decide what should I use to get out of the mess. This game does not have any smart decision making and the whole game is just a little bit more than "shoot it until it dies". The last problem is the level design. Levels of this game are just downright plain and bland, without any interesting bits.

This game wants to be Borderlands like looter-shooter and a classic shooter at the same time but fails at delivering a solid experience in ether genres.

Why am I recommending this game after all of this negativity? Because despite all of the shortcomings, Shadow Warrior 2 is a damn fun game! It's not a great game but it is good enough for at least a single playthrough. The main story can be finished in just six or seven ours and in my opinion it is fun enough to be worth this many hours. I didn't like the game that much to feel justified for playing side content but there is a lot of side missions and challenges and I feel there are a lot of players whom could find more enjoyment in the combat loop to play this game at least 15 hours.

It is a very very weak recommendation, but a recommendation nonetheless!
The game is good and fun but it's longer than it needed to be. So avoid this game if you are one of the people who like to finish games in a few days because the game gets boring.
The story is kinda 'meh' but there are more than a handful of jokes which can bring a few chuckles.
The gameplay is obviously the main reason to play this game and I say it is worth it. Shooting and slashing is satisfying enough to keep the player engaged. There are a lot of good abilities to make fun combos and thanks to the good comical gore and sound design the player can have a really good time slaying hoards of demons.

A gorgeous game that makes you feel emotions.

Personal opinion on the game:
When I finished the game and credits were rolling I started to think about my experience.
The goal was nothing special at all, but the road was...
The game started over by literally sending my character to start of the game and I realized it is a infinite cycle. Just like our real lives. This was the most beautiful thing from this game for me.
I've ran a lot for many goals in my life but most of the times I just ignored the way to the goal.
Journey showed me that the "journey" can be more important than the destination.

In an age when most game devs have become lazy, id Software is back to show us DOOM remains a behemoth which has stood the test of time amongst the biggest games of this medium.
The game may look hard or even annoying for new players but don't be discouraged to play it. Each challenge is designed very carefully to teach players something. Each battle is crafted with a look of thinking and every one of them have a unique point.
DOOM Eternal forces you to play well. Between the games which have a high skill ceiling like DMC or fighting games, DOOM Eternal is designed celeverly to push new players into the "fun zone" and actually DOOM Etartal is much easier than many games to begin the process of getting good. After a while of playing this game, although you know there is room for improvement but definitely you feel like a pro player and this feel is amazing.
I don't have to say much about the graphics. Just look at a few screenshots and witness the awe. But I can add the fact that thanks to the game's genius technical team, DOOM Eternal is really really well optimized on PC.
Eternal's music is fantastic as you may have heard it's soundtracks. The music fits perfectly with the games mood and setting and it enhances the games feel to a new level.
The game is violent, but in a mostly funny and never disturbing way. It is more like "Tom and Jerry with blood for adults" than some sadistic violent thing.
Last but not least, now DOOM has a story and to my surprise it is fantastic! I have never dreamed of DOOM having some lore, let alone having a lore so interesting as this. Even if you don't have patience to read all of the codex pages (read them in between the levels to get a better sense of locations history imo) get the lore from somewhere like a YouTube video.

In an age when most games do a lot of things and don't have any interesting innovations or perfections in anything, DOOM Eternal is doing a few things great or even perfect.
DOOM Eternal is a near perfect game. (I say "near" for margin of error and really minor stuff)
Thanks id Software for making a game with love. This masterpiece shows that there is still some passion in this artform.


A little defence about common criticisms on DOOM Eternal:
Some people say this games platforming is bad. The platforming is not the high point of the game but it slows down the pacing between the fights and makes room for breathing. On the other hand, the platforming moves the player between epic places of this game. Without it we would had to just wait in elevators to move between set pieces and I prefer to have an active transition over the passive one. Movement is one of the most important skills in DOOM Eternal and the game even in the slow parts helps you to grow accustomed to the movement mechanics.
I spoke about the game's difficulty earlier and its importance in making players stronger and making the game fun. There were some debate about the Marauder enemy type and although it was hot when the game launched and now it is not that big of a deal, I have to say in fact the Marauders are great. When you think you can kill everything by brute force the game tells you "NO!" and throws a new enemy type at you. The Marauders make you play carefully and If you know how to dance with them (Don't get too close to them because they themselves will come at you and perform their flashy green attack) they make the game more fun.
And also if you don't like story in a DOOM game (while I said it is good) all of the story stuff and cutscenes are completely optional and skippable.

DOOM Eternal is an absolute masterpiece and one of the best games ever created.

I got this game like a year ago on Epic Games store for free. After a while i decided to play it. This game is fantastic. fantastic enough to make me buy it here so I can give this masterpiece a positive review.
This game has one of the best Sci-fi stories of all time.
Don't hesitate and just buy it.

Hated this game until i finished all the levels.

I'ts an ok game. Much better than the first outlast game!
My main complain about the first game was it is only depending on panic horror, and a $hit ton of jump scares to a point that they become tedious. On the other hand this game is about twice as long as the first game and the count of jumps are almost half of the other game and the they put more effort into jump scares.
Also Outlast 2 has the school sections witch I think are the best part of the game. My only problem with Outlast 2 is the characters are garbage! (I didn't liked all of first games characters except the doctor)
