It's Valheim mixed with a bit of New World in a RuneScape coat of paint. And it runs great on Steam Deck. The Deck controls are pretty good but needs some work. A few times, especially in crafting, I find I need to use the cursor or tap the screen. I'm sure they'll iron out those quirks soon. Controls are great on PC with mouse and keyboard.

My early impression is this is something I can really get into. I'm hoping it's not as grindy as RuneScape. The dream would be 10-20 hours to level a skill completely. Considering there are 28 skills in RuneScape I don't think it's too much to ask to be at all 99's in under 300 hours.

I digress. I'm having fun with what I've experienced so far and I want to play more.

After almost 100 hours of solo play I can easily recommend Icarus. I started back in Early Access and picked it up again after the launch, starting brand new. It's a lot of fun starting bases and inventory over from nothing with each new mission, saving up currency to buy more permanent gear that sticks around between missions. I'm 100 hours in but I'm still relatively early in the mission progress. Lots of content in the game.

A revised Path of Exile 1. Simplified currency because it uses gold pieces for vendors now. And a streamlined gem system that scraps the coloured gems and, again, makes more sense. It's an upgrade and I'm here for it.

A relatively relaxing space sim. Not hyper realistic, kind of arcadey, but still lots of fun. Has a very immersive economy, too.

Idle adventuring. Numbers go up!

Valheim with bugs and a fear of water. Good stuff.

Bake cookies. Bake better cookie technology. Bake more cookies. Repeat.

Scuba. Sushi. Exploration. Awesome visuals. Good story. What's not to like?

Is Halo. Is good.

Is good. Scratches that Action RPG itch. A whole lot to experience without paying a single penny, too.
