ice story, similar mechanics, good graphics. I won't deny that it's entertaining. I finished the initial campaign, killed the final god, and I definitely spent many hours playing it. But despite that, my review is negative,and for good reason.

Community:
PoE has a global chat that puts you in contact with veteran players. That sounds great, right? In reality, the community is filled with incredibly toxic individuals. Most of the time, if you ask what an item does or how to use it, you'll get answers like "you won the game" or "you lost the game". Zero explanation, no actual help. Say you're struggling with something? Don't expect advice, expect mockery or silence.

Gear and Loot:
The gear system is, frankly, a mess. The majority of loot that drops is absolute trash. You can sell it to vendors for crafting resources, but it's rarely worthwhile. When a decent item does drop, good luck knowing whether it's actually good, especially as a new player. There are dozens of affixes, resistances, and stats that are never explained. And after killing Kitava, if your gear isn't up to par, just forget about progressing. You're thrown into harder zones with a huge resistance penalty and basically no guidance. It's grind or die, grind and die, fail the boss and die, literally.

Overcomplicated Systems:
PoE is bloated with systems. Instead of depth, you get layers of confusion. Take the Menagerie, where you capture beasts to craft items. Great, except no one tells you how or when to do that. You just end up with a zoo full of monsters and no idea how to use them. Or the hideout crafting bench: half the time, it won't let you upgrade gear because of hidden limits on mod slots. Want to fix your elemental resistances? Good luck, most of your gear from the campaign can't be upgraded.

Then there's The mine, Heist, Incursion, Labyrinth, Map device (at least this is what I have saw until now) and that's just scratching the surface. Each one has its own mechanics, currencies, and learning curve. None of them are properly introduced. You're expected to watch hours of YouTube videos just to figure out how not to waste your time, how to destroy a wall, what gem to upgrade, why you should finish the labirint...

Trade and Currency:
Want better gear? You'll need to trade for it. But PoE doesn't have an in-game auction house—trading requires using an external website and messaging other players manually. The whole economy runs on dozens of types of orbs and currencies. Again, no explanation. Which ones are valuable? Which ones should you save or spend? Who knows. Trial and error—or more hours watching tutorials.

Death Loops:
Dying in PoE isn't just annoying, it's punishing. Do not run maps (in map device), if you are not sure to be able to complete the map, much better is to run the latest story levels. Resistances matter a lot, but the game doesn't give you the tools to fix them easily. Crafting? Inconsistent. Buying gear? You're broke (and where to buy them also?!). Real money? Nope, only cosmetic items (but some people may be happy for this). So when you meet a special monster with high elemental damage, expect to die instantly. Over and over. Sometimes in one hit. And if you're playing Hardcore? Say goodbye to your character. Hope you enjoy rerolling.

Final thoughts:
Path of Exile looks like a dream ARPG on the surface. But after a while, it reveals itself as a confusing, punishing, and extremely unfriendly game to new or even mid-level players. Endless systems with no onboarding, loot that's 99% garbage, and a community that gatekeeps knowledge behind sarcasm and mockery.
If you're willing to sink in dozens of hours just to learn how to play properly, and you don't mind reading wikis more than actually playing, maybe this is for you. But for me? It's an exhausting grind disguised as depth.
