Don't be fooled, this is more like early access right now, no matter what version number they give it.

And the last update introduced some heavy time sinks: crafting a decent armor now takes about 20 minutes of real time, you can't queue crafting, and a workbench can only be used by one person at a time. So when you want to play one or two hours a day, after work, with a friend, get something else.

...so, is this game fun?
It WAS. Right up to recent update.

Now... well, do you like spending half an hour doing nothing? Because that's what you'll be doing in this game - staring at the crafting menu for half an hour, waiting for your armor to finish crafting so you can actually go have some fun... for about ten minutes or so, and afterwards - oops, your armor is now damaged, better repair it! Yup, you guessed it - time to stare at the crafting menu some more.

And the worst of it isn't even that they added a timed crafting to the game that performed well without it. The worst of it is that they had FIVE ACTIVE FEEDBACK CHANNELS each full of players begging them not to do it, and they decided to IGNORE all of them. If you need to know, what kind of people are behind this game - now you know.

Don't waste your money. Respect your time. Cause these lads surely won't.

P.S. For everyone inquiring about my playtime:
My general way of purchasing games goes like this: I pirate the game and see if it is worth the money, and if it is, I delete the pirated version and buy the real deal. I will do this even if the game isn't particularly my jam, but I see genuine passion behind it (which is how I ended up with multiple games on my account that have play counters below 5 hours) because I believe in supporting people that give their all.
When I first got into this, it was a beta build and yeah, it was a great fun. Me and my three friends played local, built our bases, etc, so it was clear that the game deserves my money. Then a lot of time was lost in figuring out a method of actually paying for it (if you've been living under a rock for the last two years - my country is curently engaged in an absolutely bonkers war effort, which makes any money transfer abroad a literall crime). Nevertheless, I bought a copy for myself and another three for my friends, and yes, we had fun.
Then the whole thing with the timed crafting dropped. The end.

Today we received an update called The Crafting Update. The developers made the game completely slow, everything takes time to craft, and you waste a lot of time doing nothing because you need to wait for things to happen.

The later the game the armor is, the longer it takes to craft. The lowest tier armors take 1 minute and 30 seconds to craft each piece, they are a 3-piece set. Right now I'm still in the early game, going to craft an armor called Silkweave Suit. Silkweave Suit takes 3 minutes to craft each piece (it's a 4-piece armor) this means we take 12 minutes to craft the armor, right? WRONG! To craft the Silkweave Suit you need 18 Silk Threads (resource) and 24 Textile Patch (resource) each one takes 10 seconds, which means +420 seconds. The total time to craft the Silkweave Suit is 12 minutes + 8 minutes, 20 minutes doing NOTHING waiting for your stuff to be ready... At least you can put that in the queue so we don't waste time crafting, right? WRONG AGAIN, there's no queue, this means you need to pay attention to put things to craft after it ends, or you'll waste even more time.

It gets worse with time... When crafting resources you can select how many you want, but you can only take the resources after completing all the ones you set to craft. For example, I want to craft a storage container that needs 3 Refined Woods to craft, so I set 30 to craft... When I reached 15 crafted I tried to get them so I could start to build the containers while waiting for the other half YOU CAN'T... You need to wait for all 30 to get ready before using them.

Don't play this game, it's ♥♥♥♥ now, wait for the developers to fix this piece of ♥♥♥♥ update or wait for players to mod the game, the developers made everything right to waste your time as much as possible, literally... For example (yes, another example) before the update you were able to craft and repair items by simply clicking the item you wanted... Now you need to click and hold the mouse button, this means every time you craft or repair something it takes +1 extra seconds to do.

I learn new things about this update that makes it even worse, the developers implemented a lot of micro changes to make the game even slower. Before the update, if you play with multiple friends, all of your friends were able to access the same crafting station to repair items and craft stuff, now only one can access the crafting station at the same time, but this isn't the worst thing that I just learned.

There's an item in the game called Grapple Gun, to craft it you need 10 Fiber Strings and 10 Chitin. I was crafting it but then I decided to stop to craft other things... When you ask to cancel the crafting the game asks you what material you want back, you choose what to receive back, and it gives only 1 unity of that material. Because I canceled the crafting, I simply threw away 10 Fiber Strings and 9 Chitin because canceling a crafting doesn't give you back 100% of the materials you used.

To craft the Wooden Sword you need 4 Fiber and 8 Wood:

Here's How to Downgrade the Game Before The Crafting Update!

01. Open Steam with the console: Close Steam > Win + R > steam://open/console

02. Type: "download_depot 768200 768202 7971218670380547790" on the Steam console and wait for "Depot download complete".

03. Go to the game's properties, in the update tab and change the first option to "Only Update This Game When I Launch It"

04. Open SMALLAND main folder: "...\Steam\steamapps\common\SMALLAND" and delete all 3 files (SMALLAND, Engine, SMALLAND)

05. Go to the Depot folder: "...\Steam\steamapps\content\app_768200\depot_768202" and send all 3 files to the main SMALLAND folder.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
If you have things from The Crafting Update placed in your world, the world will conflict with the version because they don't exist. You just need to remove the new things, in my case was the owl statue and the new tenner, after dismantling all crafting stations I was able to join the same world, with the same character, in the downgraded version.
