My games
Path of Exile is my comfort game, love the build making aspect and must have spent at least double the time I played cooking up unique builds.

I also love risk of rain (both the original and the new one) the lore in these games is just :chef_kiss:

Souls likes have basically been my life ever since I started gaming, even have a pretty sick tattoo sleeve to back it up.

path of exile(PoE) is quite simply my favorite game and I would recommend you play for at least 10-12 hours before you decide whether it is for you. There is no good reason not to, as this game is Free to play and doesn't take that long to install.

PROS

Lots of new content coming soon; an endgame overhaul and in three months PoE 2!

Free to play: This game is fully free to play, that being said you might fear a pay to win business structure. Fortunately PoE does not follow such a structure. In the cash shop you can buy fancy skins (these are quite expensive seing as 1 cosmetic set will set you back about 42 euros) and also some convience items, character slots (you get 24 for free, so I don't think it's worth the money) or stash-tabs, the stash-tabs are really something you'll want to look into if you want to play PoE far into the endgame. The game gives you 4 basic stash tabs for free, I myself found the different specials tabs quite convient though, as they allowed for quick sorting of my items without needing to manage the space a lot.

Regular updates: PoE has gone on many years now, with many "leagues" every three months or so. Each time they release a new (totally free) expansion with a unique "league" and a bunch of new mechanics, rebalancing, tilesets, enemies, storylines, lore, etc. Which are all integrated into the world seemlessly.

Leagues: The leagues are a unique feature, they are always focused around a new mechanic and they last till the next big update. They radically overhaul the gameplay. You can always choose between playing the league or standard, and each time a league ends your character will be sent over to standard as well.

Variety: In PoE something I really enjoyed was how much possibilities there are, in diablo lll for example, you get a certain skill list per character. The system PoE works with is far more flexible, you can easily make rangers into either melee ranged or even a magic type character, and use any skill you'd like. That being said, not all skills are good without a solid gear and stat investment. And I would not recommend starting the game without looking up a couple of build guides first, since your character will not perform well enough for the endgame without a proper build.

Active and friendly community with lots of trading.

The devs(Grinding Gear Games) have a tonne of involvement with fans, and actually listen to them .

CONS
Time investment: PoE can be quite a time consuming game especially if you're looking to get into the endgame content, or make an expensive build.

SideNote: I now work fulltime, but I can still get a lot of enjoyment out of the game just playing 1 or 2 hours a day, so the time investment does not have to be a con in my opinion
