I am delighted to know this game made it to full release.

I still remember my first time playing this game midnight...
I was in Mystery Lake, in the middle of nowhere, maybe somewhere near North.
It was getting dark, there were no shelter nearby so I gathered some wood and found a location to wait for the night.
I successfully started a fire and was chilling near it. But what come next is the best experience this game ever gave me.

A heavy wind and storm came out of nowhere and blew off my cozy fire. I was getting cold and beginning to get tired. I tried to start another fire but the wind was just too strong, no luck. It was getting dark and all I got in my inventory is a cup of coffee, a bunch of matches and four flares. After serval minutes, sunlight was out and I could see nothing, pitch black.

I walked forward aimlessly in the hope that I could find a shelter. Five minutes went by, felt like an hour, I lit my first flare. I could only see no further than 3 meters. In order to avoid going in circle or lost in the woods, I stick to a mountain on my right and kept walking.

In the following two minutes, I walk close to the mountain of rocks through a blizzard with the only light source coming from the flare that I was holding.
I didn't dare to run knowing I would be exhausted. I didn’t want to stop either, you can't be certain when will the blizzard stop. You may close your eye and never open again, never be found in this middle of nowhere.

The first flare is dead, I lit the second one. All sort of objects pass by as I walk forward. Trees, braches, rocks, debris... but not a single shelter. My character started to breathe heavily because of cold, ironically, I in real-life was sweating and hot. I start feeling desperate and blaming myself for not planning ahead before I went on this adventure. I was deep in my own thought, can't remember what I was thinking at that moment. All I can remember is the damn blizzard and the sound of the lighting flare in front on my face.

Second flare goes off, I rested near a tree and checked my backpack. Two flares left and a cup of coffee I boiled that morning which was cold by then. I drank it thinking I might as well make the most of it while I can. I lit the third flare and kept going. A minute later, I worried that I was walking in circle, so I think "oh well, nothing to lose at this point" and leave the rocks on my right. After a minute or so, out of nowhere... I saw some sort of wooden bulletin board with a frozen corpse in front of it. The board has a picture of a lookout with an arrow pointing upward.

I was excited, I lit my last flare and walked along the mountain road and stayed close to the railing. Not long later I found the location call "Forestry Lookout".

I walked inside, slammed the door, cut the chair I saw for woods, and started a fire before I went to bed.

Next morning is the calmest morning I ever experienced, lovely sunrise, warm temperature, full of hope. I quitted the game and wondering what the hell just happened.

But damn… that's the most immersive feeling of dying I ever felt in a video game.
Imagine you just staring at a mostly black monitor with a red glowing light in the middle and white particles flying in every direction. The sensation of the overwhelming of darkness and helplessness for half an hour…

10/10 would do that again.
