This is actually the second time I've played this, and even then, I'm still amazed with this game. It's unfathomable that a studio based in Seattle was able to produce this game while paying homage to the golden age of Japanese cinema, and not whitewash or dis-respect the core audience of this genre. It's so refreshing to have an Asian American actor portray a well written protagonist. The ensemble cast is also equally well cast and well acted. Just aces across the board.
On the technical side, nothing much needs to be said. Nixxes and Sucker Punch have done an excellent job porting this to pc. I originally played this on PS4, so the frame rate jump was shocking to me. I'm very pleased.
Now onto a side-note. Ubisoft will never provide quality to this degree. There are a multitude of reasons why. I've accepted that they never will. I don't expect them to, and I will never pay them any heed. I urge people to have a mature discussion as to why, because the underlying reasons are very much relevant to the West's treatment of Asians.

I was there when every Fallout game came out, and purists sent death threats to devs. I was there when Last of Us 2 launched, and quickly criticized for having female characters. I was there when Cyberpunk supposedly had a broken launch, but I was able to find enjoyment with each update. I will be here in a few months, and find everyone's opinions suddenly shift once more, in the typically juvenile nature of online game discussion.

Alright, I have to be real honest. This port is not good enough for a purchase. I have a 5800X, 32G ram, RTX 3080 build, and this game has serious traversal stutter issues that will surely drive anyone nuts, especially during particular scenarios when you're fighting several necromorphs. As long as the stuttering issues are present, whether from loading levels or loading shaders, I simply can't recommend this PC port.
That aside, this remake is really excellent. It invalidates the original version of Dead Space, improving on so many aspects and fully realizing the original concept that past technology was not able to achieve. I was able to finish the game, performance issues and all, and still enjoyed the game. I would definitely do the research and assess how much you're willing to spend on a subpar PC port, and make a decision from there.
Man, this recent trend with PC ports really are a bummer.

Great beat em up with mixture of old school mechanics and newer QOL improvements. Combat is a lot like Turtles in Time, but special moves can be used much more often by building combos and taunting. The rolling is great for defensive and maneuvering purposes. It ever has six player cross play! Fantastic art direction and soundtrack (Wu-Tang forever). Pro-tips: you can try the game on PC or xbox game pass. Switch version requires NSO. And for your sanity, please turn off screen shake. Cowabunga.

10/10, would shoot JK Simmons in the face with a toilet gun again.

So here's a tip: don't be like me and think you can run this game with a third gen Intel chip and a 980 TI. Either upgrade your system (which is probably a good idea) or get a cheap MSI prebuilt with at least a GTX 1070 (which I fortunately have as a backup). I'm able to run on medium settings.
I will update this review once I play more, but I have a feeling this game is worth the time investment. Eidos Montreal has a good track record.
Side note: the soundtrack is fantastic. There are original tracks that sound straight up 90s era Metallica.
