As unreal engine 5 is in this game and besides a tech demo or 2 i'd tried in the past, i figured it's time to give a ue5 release a go, see what's to come.

In that perspective, i felt a bit let down because despite (some) instances of the game "looking next gen" it hasn't been much you haven't seen in games like cyberpunk, starfield or other higher tier rendering games.

The NPC's are just like robocop. Robotic. Walking around doing the quests outside the precinct is, well, for a word; dull. It seems barren. NPC's talk sometimes, but only if you walk right up to them as an example. No banter or chatter walking by them (or whatever), the world feels silent a lot of the time. And when they do speak, it's nothing to write home about. The voice acting feels rather cheap as well - but most games do these days.

As far as I can tell I'd done basically everything on my first play through, maybe missed secret evidence here or there but in order to complete it took a mere 17 hours and there doesn't appear to be replayability, not even newgame plus, a high price to pay for a game though if you can finish in probably 10-12 hours if you didn't fool around a bit doing sidequests.

I think the game has a few alternate endingings but even still, it wouldn't change much in terms of replaying it.

The gunplay is alright i suppose and destructible (kinda) environments is nice to see again. The gore is, mediocre. I feel like the fear game/s still ones up it in that regard.

Good to pass time, but nothing you're going to be excited to get home from work to play.

I know it says 3 hours gameplay, i've played longer than game time displayed (3 hours - id be around 8-9 hours by now) - invisible mode on steam I suppose.

Straight up, if you're running an RTX build then 100% make sure to do the third party dlss package installs. Takes a few mins. I never tried the game prior to doing it, but on an RTX 2070S it's pulling 50-110fps (2k mid detail (aint tried high+ yet) running an i9 12900KF @ 16gb ddr4 3200mhz.

Next up is the issue my housemate on his amd build. He had encountered a "common" sound issue, the issue there is running the game on the old HDD (or spin drives to these days speak). Moving the game to an SSD or m2 will resolve that problem.

Before I purchased starfield, I was reading the negative comments which made me "umm and arhh" a littlebit before I spent the $120 (au$) on it. The negs seemed to suggest things like 'no mans sky is better, "this is an elite dangerous"- "there's too many bugs" or the game doesn't get interesting until you're 10-20 hours into it.

But honestly, this game is scratching an itch i haven't had scratched in a long time in terms of gaming and i've had a genuine intrest since about the first hour into it and learning about the artifact. It's more enthralling then you'd think.

Here's to hoping all the new UE5(+) coming out soon itches that same scratch even harder!

Far better than I thought it was going to be. Took around 7 hours to complete (not 100%, about 70%) but we'll see how new game + can change that up a little.

The soundtrack (not DLC) is fairly decent, too. There's the odd complaint about 'bad voice acting' but there's far, far worse voice acting in games out there which were also decent games. The voice acting didn't worry me in the slightest.

Very enjoyable, worth it especially if it's on sale.

You know how you have those early access games in your list that you completely forget about until one day you think "oh hey i wonder if that game is done yet"?

Well, 10 years on since the original release and the last small update made about 4 years ago, I think it's time I give it a thumbs down.

Turns out it's an abandoned project.

Please remove the option to purchase.

Where are the updates? Bought this almost a year ago now and it's the same content.

As everyone else is saying, it's fun, and has serious potential. But if this is the final product, mark it down to $5 and call it a complete game. This is a never ending demo we've all paid for it seems.

It's kind of addictive. But it's grindy. It seems aimless being there is no campaign. But if you're a space-sim fan you'll probably enjoy the game for the most part.

Pros:

Very decent graphics, runs smoothly.
Battles can be fun.
Developers add content based of the community's thoughts (or, some of the ideas anyway).
There is mining, exploration, battles, wings and all that jazz.
It's an mmo although seeing other players is rare - solo play and group play is available.
The game is huge - I don't think anyone anyone has the time to explore each of the 400 billion systems in the galaxy.
Cruise speed, super cruise speed and hyper jumps - all of which is pretty fun
Docking is very unique and very fun, something you'll enjoy atleast the first few times you do it

Cons:

Can be grindy.
Can be tedious to learn what to do at first even after training.
Not really that many available ships - you will spend 20-30 hours to get one capable of making slightly more money however the really good ships can be really overpriced and you will need to grind another solid 50 hours ontop.
It is missing a campaign or something to give the game some sense. The game seems rather aimless.
Sometimes the game can be unforgiving.

It's fun, but the game would be so much better with an added campaign, maybe some fmv's, some video's and things like that!

Without spending too much time typing out whether or not I recommend this game, right now it's kind of hard.

Yes I have enjoyed it and yes I put up with it being the billion of bugs it has. Does it annoy the crap out of you, heck yes.

Pros:
It's a lot of fun
Will keep you amused for hours
Solid graphics
Solid gameplay
Good sounds - some voice acting not original

Cons:
Level 30 players with higher stats than a max level charachters - hackers with +100 all stats. VAC the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ please.
Multiplayer is laggy - sometimes very laggy - 50,000ms ping kind of laggy
Multiplayer has too many super saiyan deathball spammers
Multiplayer has players who has some sort of invincible cheat
Multiplayer allows the cheaters to use their hacked charachters
No Australian servers.
Even single player can be tedious to load into sometimes

The game is great fun, until you've got mostly everything you need from quests. After that, the fun lays in multiplayer. Which is ruined.

DLC, currently not worth the pruchase. Wait for it to be $5.

1 install + 3 uninstalls + 3 reinstalls + 60gb of download data later + same G9 error = crap.

Oh, the 20 odd hours was time spent playing this game on this system some 8 months ago. Used to run fine.

My computers hardware is more than sufficient enough to run this game.

Not recommended after that.

Edit + change of recommendation:

G9 error fix says, uninstall and reinstall or logout/login. Obviously, that doesn't work.

I found a forum which suggested trying to connect wirelessly to my router rather than use ethernet.
And I'll be darned, it actually worked?

Despite all the negative reviews (as a whole, not just on steam) regarding FF13 - I actually liked it back when I had it on PS3, I'm used to 1080p graphics in games myself and sadly, without use of it the in this game does make it look kind of shonky in 720p mode.

Flurry of memories once you begin hearing the music and whatnot.

Everyone is using GeDoSaTo to ehance the resolution to 1080p or 1920x1080+ - and the amount of detail difference is amazing, however, you do notice a crisp box on 40% of the screen and the rest is blurred and brighter, which I was living with until I realized the text boxes were being cut off and the menus broken.

So I've hit a brick wall until the GeDoSaTo plugin is updated (again) or if square enix gets this game 1080p support, which they really should have done in the first place.

I would still recommend FF13 to anyone who likes the final fantasy series, the battle system is nice but the story is a bit hard to follow.

I would recommend it 100x more on PC if it gets 1080p support *hint hint*! :)

Edit: GeDoSaTo has been severly updated since this post and I do have to say that some instances of the game you'd expect something like a ps4 to render running it in hi-def mode

Early Access Review
Complete review edit: I had done some reviews on the pre-alpha but now the game is in beta mode it's time to re-give my two cents.

This is actually a lot of fun - if you enjoyed the old carmageddon games back you'll get a kick out of this.

Pros:

- Reminds you a lot of previous carmageddon versions. Right down to the fun & frustrating parts!

- Quite a laugh when things go your way

- Multiplayer is really fun. Some guy keeps kicking me from servers he creates because I destroyed him pretty bad in a previous games. 10/10 would destroy someone for server kicks again.

- Singleplayer has the potential of keeping you playing a while.

- When the game is released it will be modable. Straight up, going to need more tracks.

Cons:

- Only 4 tracks, though several routes on the tracks have been made. Make atleast 6 more tracks? Previous carmageddon versions had many more tracks with the benefit of a good amount of routes per track also. The rest are otherwise arena-style tracks with not much diversity.

- Poorly optimized at the moment. You have to change video settings from the word go even if you're running a super computer. Even when you get the game running generally smooth from fiddling with the detail settings, you're still going to get lag when a car takes damage even if you're on the opposide side of the map.

- Game doesn't even look that great for how poorly it runs sometimes.

- Once you've unlocked all the cars and collected the tokens, not much replayability. Pretty much try beat your old score in the same races. Multiplayer is probably most fun!

Overall? It's fun. But it's frustrating too. Once it's optimized and the community makes more maps, it'll be a treat.

Purchase if you're a fan for sure. Purchase if you're a fan of destruction racing type of games.
