Fallout 4 is a great game if you consider it a standalone game and not the fourth in the series. As for a game in the Fallout series the deep dialogue decisions options have been simplified to a basic: Like, Dislike, Remain Silent or Be Funny type options. The decision to use full voice acting directly impacted the number of decisions and the depth of the decision making trees. To simplify the number of spoken lines, the choices have been watering down significantly compared to previous entries in the series. The game is still good on its own. I just miss the breadth and depth of older choices and the impact they had in previous games. Yes, Fallout 4 is still a post-apocalyptic, action-shooter and RPG. Yes, it takes place in the Fallout universe. Now it simply has fewer RPG dialogue options due to spoken dialogue. In the end, this new chapter in the Fallout universe comes with a new look and feel to add to the new story. As long as you can take it for what it is, a solid game on its own, then you will enjoy it. As long as you know this before you purchase, and are okay with it, the game is a fine entry in the Fallout lineup. One final thought, the base building is fine on the first playthrough but is tedious if you try to start a new game. You can ignore the settlements. But it feels like you are abandoning waste-landers. For me at least, it hurts the replayability. I wish Bethesda would offer an option to simply clone each of your bases from your first playthrough. Regardless, it is worth playing. Overall, recommended.
