My CSGO review

With all accounts I've ever had I had a playtime around 3.000 hrs I guess. Something like that.
So here is my review on my new main (due to the fact that my old one got hacked).

Counter Strike Global Offensive. Where do I even start...?

As a new player you go into the game not knowing that your life will change forever.
A Lot of people play Counter Strike Global Offensive as their first shooter ever and I think altough there are so many negative sites of CS:GO it's a good start. Why? Because you learn so many things with which you could improve your gameplay or playstyle in other games. Especially shooters.

One thing you will realise when playing it for the first time (without prime status) against other players (not against BOTs) is that you won't hit sh*t. Lmao. At least that was how it was for me.
When I started playing csgo I started with some friends. And that's an important thing. If you don't have any friends or just want to play alone you'll never get the full Counter Strike Global Offensive experience. I'll get back to that later.

Movement
The movemet in csgo is pretty basic at first sight but when you take a closer look it becomes complicated. With a good movement you have decent advantage.
Some examples:
  • Get to spots where enemies won't look that often because it's uncommon.
  • Get around the map more quickly.
  • Be harder to hit for the enemy team.
There are so many things that come with movement such as bunnyhopping, strafing, longjumps etc.
But in theory it's always easy. Try to get 10 bunnyhops on a flat surface in a row without using a mousewheel keybind. It's hard but possible. Try the same thing on a competitive map like de_cobblestone and it's even getting harder because the surface isn't flat and you have to adjust your timing on the spacebar. So many factors come together. The easiest way to learn it is to watch players that are better than you and of course just to play the game.

Aim & Angles
It's a shooter game and therefore aim is an essential factor of the game. But Counter Strike is different than the most shooter games! Every weapon has an individual spray pattern you have to learn. Aiming is about pixels in this game, it really is. And that's one of the things that makes it so competitive. It's not like you call an air strike on a position and hope you get a kill. No. It's about whether your crosshair is on the enemies' head or not to get the headshot. And if is slighty too much to the right or too much to the left or whatever, you won't hit him. It's not like e.g. battlefield where the bullet of a sniper "takes it's time to travel" on a longshot. In Counter Strike Global Offensive the bullets travel insant. You don't have to calculate anything. If you're on the enemy, you'll hit him. It's really not easy to get to the point where you have a decent aim. Just play non-competitive gamemodes or join a community deathmatch server to learn and improve your aim. There are pretty nice workshop maps as well to help you train your aim.
Another thing are angles. You'll have to learn which angles to hold. You'll have to learn where the angles are better for the enemy at which spots etc.
On the whole you really have to invest time into csgo. You actually have to learn and remember things in order to get good. Which brings me just to my next point.

Map knowlege & sounds
If you don't know the maps you're ******.
For real. It's like one of the most important things in csgo. When you know the map you played for a while you will know where the enemies will come from and how long it's going to take. For example it's good to know the seconds of how long a player needs to rotate. With that info you can expect him to come after a certain amount of time and even from where because you know route 1 is gonna take 5 seconds longer than route 2.
Additional to that the sounds are essential. If you don't walk slowly or crouch walk you will always make noise. When dropping down from somewhere, when reloading, when scoping, when dropping weapons ... you will always make noise but you can use that to your advantage.
I bet as a brand new player you'll get at least 50% more kills when using a headphone.
Learning by doing.

Crosshair placement
Newbies always look at the ground. Well they don't but their crosshair is on the ground of the most of the time.
Place your crosshair where the enemy MIGHT be. So if you walk around a corner just get your crosshair at head or at least body level or you might get shot without even having time to react.
Of course you don't know where enemies will be, will you? Well yeah. If you know the map you're playing on and the angles you'll get a feeling for your crosshair placement. Watch pro matches to improve that.

Communication
The alpha and omega in this game is communication. Whether you talk via ingame voice chat, teamspeak or discord. Just talk! Give information to your team. Say them when you see an enemy. When you're dead in matchmaking don't just sit back and relax: try to help your teammates get through the round.
Example: If the mate who is still alive (and you're already dead) doesn't see the enemies' head in a hiding spot but you do then go ahead and tell him. Might save the round. In lower ranks it's so annoying that people don't use their mics...

Cheaters and prime status
For about 13€ I think you can buy the csgo prime status. Why should you do that, it's a free to play game.
Well. Most cheaters just have throwaway accounts for like 1€ each or less. So they don't want to invest money to cheat. That's why you'll find more cheaters in non-prime matches than in those who have prime. But still... sadly csgo is full of cheaters and when I say full of cheaters I mean it. The cheaters you'll meet in prime once you bought it are less obvious. They don't use spinbot that often and try to keep things "legit" for overwatch (overwatch is a system where players with more than 150 wins in competitive can download the replays of other players who are a suspect in a cheating case due to many reports and convict them). But you will still have cheaters in the game and it will always be like that... it really s*cks but it's VAC (Valve Anti Cheat) which is just not good. Anyway, buy prime and you'll enjoy the game more than without.

Skins
Counter Strike Global Offensive is famous for it's skins. Although it doesn't make the weapons any better or anything and skins are just for the visuals it's nice to have. I have some more expensive skins as well but just because I like them. You can waste all your money I don't care but don't waste your money on cases trying to get a expensive skin or knife. It won't happen. You'll lose a lot of money when trying to get a knife out of a case. Just buy it on the community market instead. The chance to get a "rare special item" out of a case is about 0,16%. So yeah.. you get it.

Final thoughts
There is so much more to say about Counter Strike Global Offensive but you just have to get a feeling for it. You improve by playing, especially when playing with friends. You improve by just playing the game and watching other people (that are better than you) play. Just get a feeling for it and play often. Train yourself on training maps if you want to get good. Play with friends, use your mic and the most important thing: it's just a game so don't rage when you lose. It's just unnecessary and doesn't make you fell good. :)

I hope some of you who actually read this could find it interesting and I hope I could help.
See ya maybe in a game!
Have fun!

EDIT: Cs2 really sucks and like 90% of people are cheating.
