Early Access Review
I'm thumbing this down, because the early game bear raid is unbalanced and unfriendly to casual solo play. The amount of time you need to set up your base and actually have some defenses is not enough unless you've experienced the loss with the first run and then min max everything in the second attempt and rush buildables in a particular way so you have better chances for surviving the attack - that's just not fun and way too punishing for new players of the game and there's no options to tweak difficulty or anything else beyond the world seed.

I don't mind the grind, but compared to the Valheim's Troll Raid, the Bear raid was much worse and the bows are terrible to use and just not fun, on top of it I had undead raid following the bear at the same night and it felt like a very unfair slap in the face by the game.

Game also doesn't tell you if the raid strength is based on days survived or how big/strong your village is based on how well equipped your villagers are, how many structures you have, villager count etc.

If it's just based on days passed (based on people discussions on steam it seems that way), then it's a terrible system, forcing players to rush and do catch up without having the option to play the game at your own pace and having time to explore the world etc.

In comparison, for example, in Night of the Dead game you also have hordes become stronger with every day, but that game at least allows you to turn them off or tweak the difficulty level, which affects how nasty the raids will be, in this game there is no such options, one difficulty for everyone. This game also does't have option to tweak how long days last, if there were such option, it would help immensely slowing down the pace of progression and giving players more room to breathe and explore between the raids.

I'll update the review if anything changes with future updates, but at the moment game is very grindy and punishing, if you like that kind of "challenge", then by all means buy the game, who am I to judge.

I'm kind of surprised how well the game is, considering it's early access and how much content there already is there in the game, nice work developers, keep it up!

It's a bit pricey, but I do hope the devs keep working hard on this, fingers crossed!

Initially I enjoyed the game, but then as I played more of it and reaching the harder areas of the map I was a bit dissapointed of the whole copy/paste feel. A lot of the the PvE locations are like that with some randomness where the loot is, but other than that, the layout is the same, if you've seen a bunker or a church, you've seen them all.

When I first stumbled on an underground mine, I was surprised, but then I saw another copy/paste mine, but with different ore boulders and it's just... meh. Same goes for all the surface level mining locations and all of it together in the end it made that sour taste in my mouth, because there's not enough unique and interesting locations in the game to explore.

Imagine Conan Exiles various camps, but without any of the interesting boss and whatnot dugeons or any of the special locations.

In the end I came to the conclusion that it's all because that they are more focusing on the PvP aspect of things and that's just not what I was looking for. I was hoping for something balanced with decent amount of PvE along with PvP and there's just other better games to play for that.

The weird lens distortion, even indoors and the grainy effect among many other post-processing effects cannot be disabled and it just makes my eyes hurt while playing this game.

All those image post processing effects on the camera don't make the game feel more immersive or the art style more distinct, it makes it look horrible and unplayable. Even if it has a good story to it, it's unacceptable in 2023 to have so little control in graphics options to not be able to disable all these things.

P.S. Character animations are pretty bad too, but I don't mind it as much as forcing the game to look in a particular way and you have no way to adjust it.

It needs work, feels like an Early Access game and not as a full game.

Story feels more like a tutorial and was way too short without any rewards in a couple of last levels.

Mechanics wise the game is missing in my opinion a lot of mandatory customization features for parts, that are available in other similar games:
- no ability to disable auto reset position of rotors
- no ability to change hotkeys for seats
- no ability to manually input a specific value for angles/speed etc
- no indicator on which specific part you're looking at and often you miss click an item and pick another nearby frame or something

If you've never played Subnautica or Subnautica: Below Zero, then I highly recommend this game for anyone wo seeks an adventure on an alien world.

It's one of the best survival games out there with good story and progression without holding the players hand all the time in what to do and how to progress. Tons of interesting locations, things and creatures for you to discover.

If you have doubts about how the game looks - graphically it looks pretty good, considering when it was released, so don't let that scare you away from it.
