It's really hard to make a game that nails everything from music to level design. Theres a a lot of games out there that are really good, but for me, really no one is compared to this masterpiece. Hollow Knight is one of the best games i have ever played, and one of the best Metroidvania. Lets take a closer look.

Graphics
This is one of the best aspects of the game. The style of the animated cartoon is simple, and clean; that helps you to immerse more in the world of Hallownest (Where the game happens). The colors that Hollow Knight use fits perfectly, and, using different colors for different parts of the game helps you to know where are you in every moment of the game. For example, the vegetation of Greenpath or the cristals of Cristal Peak.

Music
INCREDIBLE
Thats the word that describes all the soundtrack of this game. Im gonna be honest with you. Im studying and composing music. When i look to the design of the music of Hollow Knight, i always get inspired. This is the type of music that makes a game a truly masterpiece.
It fits very well with all the areas that the game brings to you. The ambience and the atmosphere its always there, and it can go from slow and soft parts when you are exploring to a loud one on a challenging moment during the game.

Design
This game takes place on Hallownest. It begins on Dirthmouth, and then we got another 14 more areas: Howling Cliffs, Cristal Peak, Forgotten Crossroads, Greenpath, Resting Grounds, Fog Canyon, City Of Tears, Fungal Wastes, Queens Gardens, Kingdowns Edge, Royal Waterways, Deepnest and The Hive. (This game is really big tho)
All of this areas are like puzzles pieces that work each with each other. Is easy to know where are you are in every moment, beacuse of the music, the ambience, the enemies and the colors that each area uses; makes it easy to navigate.
The gameplay on every area is different, such as bouncing with mushrooms on the Fungal Wastes or dodging lasers on the Cristal Peaks (I hate them btw).
There are unique enemies in each zone as well, like exploding bugs in Greenpath or spiders on the Deepnest.
At playing this game, we always dont know where are we going to, and the sense of exploration that this game does with all the things that i mentioned after, is extremely big. That is what makes this game a piece of art.

Mechanics
As many other metroidvanias, in many causes, u wont be able to go on sites, beacuse they need an especific mechanic that you didnt discover yet. That makes you to follow a trail to get that mechanic, and then get back into the place u found before. That keeps the game playable for a long time, and i really like that from this genre.
Talking about the mechanics that this game has to offer you; when you first play this game, you can only jump, and attack with the nail you have.
Getting more deep on the game and exploring, fighting bosses, etc, you would be able to get more mechanics, such as the black dash, the dash, the double jump, etc. This mechanics are great at there own, and its a reward for playing the game and finishing difficult tasks.

Conclusion
If you really like metroidvanias, or you are trying to get into this genre, or you just want to play and get immerse by a game and get and experience that you would remember for a long time, Hollow Knight is your choosen one. Im sure you would fell in love with this game, such as i did to, and its very much worth it.
