Game's an absolute blast, dude's a psycho that literally has to piss on things as a game mechanic.

On a technical note, the game's using Unity Engine, but a new enough version not to need Windows 11 Windowed Mode Optimization for correct performance. There is no Fullscreen Exclusive, but it's using the proper modern Borderless Fullscreen (DXGI Flip Model), so there's no added latency (at least not for Windows 8.1+ users).

Lacks polish, but this boomer shooter has more substance than a $9.99 game would be expected to.

Latest patch removes HID input support. It supported PlayStation controllers natively when it shipped, but they have removed support for that and it only supports XInput now. Removing support for input devices is not cool.

The ability to launch games without reverse engineering them and disabling their DRM is no longer a requirement when selling games on Steam. Lovely.

CRAPCOM will be using this new DRM schemes in all their games from this point forward, no doubt. The entire executable is encrypted and packed, alongside a few platform support DLLs (steam_api64.dll). Executable has to be unpacked to modify, or in my case, to even fix the problem that prevents it from launching.

This is worse than Steam Input, at least when the -native- Steam Input API is added to a game AFTER you buy it, you still have a mostly functional game (sans ability to play the game using a gamepad).

Please do not support this, it is a very bad precedent. Denuvo is actually looking desirable compared to CRAPCOM's latest shenanigans. All users should be eligible for refunds no matter how many hours played if they keep this crap.

Performance is wonky at times, HDR calibration is broken, and frame generation screws up the game's UI at times.

I'd recommend turning native HDR off an d using Special K instead (Discord release, because at time of writing the official Stable release does not support DLSS3 Frame Generation + HDR).

Still, these are minor issues that don't detract from the actual puzzles, and even inverse tonemapping SDR to HDR looks spectacular.

Game ships with 1.5 GiB of debug symbols, lol. Now if only games people cared about did this.

This game's a mess. I'm not saying don't get it, but I'm definitely saying don't buy it.

You're better off getting it alongside a Game Pass subscription than paying for this incomplete game.

This is a great space game, good mix of resource collection / crafting -and- space combat w/ random generated encounters.

Lack of, or rather discontinuation of, official HDR support is sad, however. Special K is an option for HDR and will produce higher quality results in the D3D11 version of the game than native or AutoHDR.

The Microsoft Store version of the game is D3D12-only, has thoroughly broken native HDR and AutoHDR and Special K produce roughly the same HDR results. They're not terrible, but if you really want the best HDR experience (and you should, from a game in outerspace), you're going to want the D3D11 version only for sale on Steam.

Looks like ♥♥♥♥ with FSR, runs like ♥♥♥♥.
Looks less like ♥♥♥♥ without FSR, runs even more like ♥♥♥♥.

Brilliant!

Performance issues were improved in the first patch, but the game's aliasing cannot be fixed and I can't stand to look at this turd :(
