Meh, I liked 1st one better. If your're immune to gore there's nothing much going on "horror" wise. Enemies are slow and barely memorable, at one point you don't even bother hiding as it's a walking simulator whereas in Outlast 1 you were stuck with tasks around the enemies constantly. Here just run past every enemy, you can take 2-3 hits on normal before you die, in close spaces just squeeze through them and heal as there's more than enough bandages to find.

At first i was hiding in barrels avoiding enemies but once you get the grasp of the games coding, it's just pointless to bother hiding. Saving is so common, even if you die, you respawn 100 meters back. If you're going for a longer period of time, you can sprint with no fear as the game will never throw enemies at you just for you to respawn in a previous biome wasting 5 mins of progress, so if you don't see it "saving" after wandering, just speedrun.

As far as jumpscares go, Outlast isn't focusing on that, like if you're walking in a school's hallway filled with lockers on both sides, it's already expected for them to blast open at one point, and of course they actually did lol, so cliche. Game's playing with your "fear" using music and sound effects, but if you focus on the visuals instead of audio, you can't really get scared.

The plot didn't immerse me for a second, it's just random gore-focused slaughterhouse. If you bother reading all the 100 random papers you find everywhere, maybe you'll get something out of it. First game was better.

To be honest, besides missions this game is boring AF, unless you install mods for something. For example cars, then get taxi bug and be happy cuz no cars will be seen around except taxi, police.. Talking about servers - join a server -> get killed straight away -> respawn -> repeat til you ragequit.
But story mode is good (at least something is good, right?)
