Arguably the perfect looter-shooter, a great mix of RPG and FPS mechanics make a must play for any fan of the genre. Looks pretty good in even in 2024 and can run on anything, its still the best in the series and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

CarX Street is probably the most frustrating racing game I've played in a long time due to one main problem, the AI is horrible, not skill wise, design wise. They have a set path that they will always follow (they take corners exactly the same every time no matter what). They will make no effort to brake before hitting you, they will not try to avoid you, and they don't seem to receive any speed loss from most collisions with other cars, as opposed to the players car which will lose power the second you tap another bumper. They are also consistently so much faster than you, that it is simply impossible to catch up past a certain distance which depending on the race was as short as ~10-20 yards. There is no "catch up" mechanic, making the reset car system entirely useless in the format of any event (if you lose your drift you might as well reset as well, the scores are near impossible and it took me, a veteran racing game player that's 100% completed most need for speeds as well as Forza 4/5, the crew etc. upwards of 20-30 plus tries to complete) This is all to say, that if you miss a timing or god for bid spin out or crash, the race is instantly over. I enjoy a challenge, and honestly, this wouldn't bother me if it weren't for the AI forcing my restart 75% of the time. There are more frustrating things, performance sucks, I got 60-80fps on medium in 1440p on an RTX 3070 & AMD 5800x3D, and the game simply does not look good enough to warrant that level of performance. Launching cars is a massive pain in the ass, it depends on the car whether it will bog or not on launch, and I tried so many different setups on cars to see if I could get them to launch any better, and it just felt like at the end of the day, even if I spent 400k on suspension, tires, transmission, AWD swap etc, it only came down to the car, and that just isn't satisfying when it takes a long time to save up money. This (like many of the problems) wouldn't really exist if the AI wasn't impossible to catch up to, but I felt that in some of the particularly short races, it was even more impossible to catch up when I couldn't get a good launch no matter what I did from both a throttle pressure/individual skill standpoint and car mods.

Now the good, car customization is great, it's super satisfying and the many options are great to see. I come to racing games for what I can do to the cars, and there is no shortage of modifications here. The gas station mechanic swapping out different types of tires and fuel is great, the entire system is fairly intuitive and while it is an annoyance to run out of gas or tire in the middle of a race, I found the ability to swap my tires on the fly cool and would welcome that change to any game like this. The drifting mechanics are great, as you would expect from a company whose previous game was only drifting. Some cars sound amazing while others don't, high redlining V6s like the R35 GTR sound incredible while V8s like the Mustangs and Mopar's leave more to be desired. The first-person camera felt really good, and that's not always the case, I felt I had a much better connection to the car and could feel where it was at all times that way, and combined with the interior customization it makes for a great experience for First person drivers like myself. There are good and bad tracks, but I would say the majority are enjoyable. I like the wealth of race series options, and it feels like there is a decent balance of race types and speed classes. The open world isn't bad, that is to say, it didn't blow my mind, as I mentioned the game doesn't look great by any measure, but it's very enjoyable to drive around in.

This is a long review, and a tough one, because I really want to like this game, but in its current state, it is a nightmare to play and will frustrate the living hell out of you. I will return to this game in a few months if they update much of the game (as they are planning to), and will update accordingly, but at this time, I cannot recommend it to anyone other than people like me who've played most if not all of the available racing games at my disposal.

I played this game originally in early access a while ago, and after returning to it and spending nearly 40 hours completing all of what it has to offer. I am impressed in how far the game has come, and I am very happy with the overall product. The game blends a great mix of exploration, crafting, and farming mechanics with minimal things to get in the way of a pure walk in the park, the only real antagonists of the game are weeds, and your nutrition bar. The visuals aren't anything special, a cartoon fun art style most similar to something like Breathedge if only slightly less sophisticated. Unfortunately, I did experience some frame stuttering issues however that was my only bug throughout my playtime, and I restarted the game (after playing about 10hrs originally) almost immediately upon release of 1.0, so I'm sure it could be ironed out. The story is meh simply involving exploring and speaking to NPC Robots, it guides you through the progression at a decent rate and is helpful when unsure what to do next. For most people, it's the crafting and exploration that matter, and it's incredibly satisfying to explore and complete areas, as well as build up my own home on the rooftop. The systems of breaking down materials and items is unique and very enjoyable, I won't take the time to explain it, just know it's worth your time, and just teetering on tedious as all games that involve farming materials to build should be. This is all to say this is a really good entry into the "survival" genre and I hope the developers continue to expand on this cozy formula they have going for themselves. 7.5/10

A fantastic little game that'll have you spending way more time on it than you thought you would. I could easily squeeze 70+ hours out of this bad boy if not more, if your a fan of business tycoon games & Pokemon you'll love this.

A brilliant game about life, loss, and most importantly creating your own destiny. I've never played a game with this much reading before, and didn't really think I would like it but Incredible music, a satisfying gameplay loop, and stunning world building created a space I just wanted to stay in. Needless to say I ended up falling in love with it and cannot wait for the second installment, my only wish is that there was more. 8.5/10

Severely lacking in content even months post 1.0 update. Very little gun customization and attachments, often horrible enemy AI that will kill you through walls across the map, and terrible performance even on a high-end PC's makes this an absolute skip for the price tag in my opinion. This is a $20-$30 game at most with the amount of content it contains. The game can be fun, and offers a pretty good experience as far as hyper realistic shooters, but gun play is often boring and uninspired, every weapon feels the same, and as previously mentioned, there just isn't enough customization/variation. This is the epitome of a "youtuber game" to me, something that can be incredibly fun with a group of friends, but solo, is noticeably lacking, and when that happens it means I'm enjoying time with my friends as apposed to the actual experience.

Pretty much every single mechanic in this game is worse than both previous games and ones that came after. This combined with the always online mechanic that only makes the game more annoying to play were the main factors in a negative review, I did enjoy my time with the game, but I've enjoyed pretty much every other racing game I've played more.

I don't really need to get into all the bugs and problems, but they exist even in 2024. The game randomly chooses not to launch and will force you to resign into EA multiple times, its infuriating and the only thing that fixes it for me is a full PC restart. This is just a single example, there are many more problems.

Like I said I enjoyed the ~15 hours for rough 100%, there is fun to be had, but I just cannot recommend it. 5/10

I'll make this short and sweet just like the game, you don't need a long review. Playing a narrative game was very refreshing after the slew of open-world games I've been playing recently, and I like pretty much everything about this one. I feel similarly about this as I do about games like Spec Ops: The Line, a fantastic, one-off game, which while it may have had more going on story-wise, Titanfall 2 has more going on gameplay-wise. Replayability is immense, and a great story with good character writing and great pacing makes for a fun-filled experience I would recommend to anyone. If you're worried about how it's aged, don't be, it's fantastic in 2024, especially for its typical ~$5 price tag on sale. 8/10

Dead Island 2 was very divisive to me, there were elements I liked and elements I didn't. Character dialogue is very corny, like incredibly corny, there is no escaping it. It has a very uninspired, boring, and predictable story, the side quests offer better storylines than the main game however short. My character has absolutely zero motive to help any of these people on both side-quests and the main story, I am constantly thinking, why am I doing this for them? I am continually volunteering myself into horrible situations with zero convincing needed in this off-putting cheery manner as if the apocalypse isn't happening.

Dodge and block are decent at best but the rest of the combat feels fantastic. Melee and ranged are both satisfying mostly because of the incredible gore system, the weapon variety and feel of the different weapons are also top-notch as well, and the amount of unique equipment and weapons found through a variety of other means was very satisfying for me (meaning I was constantly getting new toys). Those two things, the combat combined with the weapon variety are what redeemed the game for me. Zombie variance leaves a bit to be desired, I wish we could move past the simple types of zombies created 20 years ago (Bloater, Screamer, etc.) and at least add more on top of it. Don't get me wrong, there is a bit of variation but it just didn't feel satisfying enough for the price tag, I picked this game up for $30 and I feel that was pretty fair for what I got but I would not pay a $ more for it. A lot of the game feels like this, there feels like a severe lack of customization for pretty much everything, and a clear lack of polish, even after multiple updates.

There are bugs Menus freeze, Keyboard and mouse controls randomly stop working in menus, and dialogue freezes occasionally. Dying can be infuriating mostly because you'll be on 1/3 of your health and instantly die to some environmental effect you can't tell is hitting you with all the visual clutter. I have too many gripes to count honestly.

I still like this game, I did all of it, completed all of the content past the main story, and opened all locked rooms/cases. It looks great and I very much enjoyed the combat and RPG elements however basic they were, there were some good moments. I also played solo, and with co-op, this is a completely different game, and I feel that important to mention. It just didn't impress me, there was a TON of hype, and in my opinion, it absolutely did not live up to it. Nevertheless, it is still a good time, and I enjoyed the ~25 hours for a rough 100%. 6/10

Gas station simulator is pretty much everything you could possibly want from a game with its namesake, it offers a wealth of customization and natural feeling progression combined with interesting market/business simulation mechanics that makes its ~20+ hour playtime necessary to complete all base game content very enjoyable and well worth it for its price tag. There are a few bugs and annoyances, but the game will continue to be updated with new DLC and I'm sure other fixes in the future. If your a fan of simulation games you'll absolutely love this one and if your on the fence with these games like I was previously, this is a good place to start. Visuals are a bit outdated for 2024 but your not playing for that, settings are great, performance is great, nothing really to hate about this one, not perfect, but its gameplay loop is so addicting it had me glued to my chair for way longer than I expected each session.

Pro Tip: If you have issues with NPC cars getting stuck causing traffic jams & such, use the broom, you can straight up push cars as far as you want very easily. BTW I did use the party time DLC (basically pay a bunch of in game $ for cool looking stuff, as its free, but none of the payed content, I saw mixed reviews and wasn't interested.
