I would recommend against this if Prepare to Die Edition was still on the market. This is hardly a remaster, and has all the flaws as PTDE such as the lack of omni-directional rolling when locked on.
However, Dark Souls as a game is a masterpiece. If you want to experience one of the greatest RPGs of all time, give DSR a try when it goes on sale.
