Early Access -arvostelu

I'll start with PROs, I'm absolutely pleased with;

Graphics, Music, Atmosphere. It sets a dark tone of early Diablo iterations and overall the game, abilities, animations all look beautiful. The game also runs surprising well for a BETA test.
I would rate it 9/10 overall.

The WASD movement - some love it, others hate it. I for one am absolutely pleased with how smooth the controls are, I can't recall a single problem with movement, it does exactly what I press with no delay.

And now for the controversial part;

This Ruthless ahh on steroids gameplay with Souls-like elements doesn't rub me in the right places, sometimes I enjoy it - sometimes I hate it to a point of ALT+F4, this is not really what I imagined as a next-gen ARPG game. I like Dark Souls, Elden Ring, Ghost of Tsushima but I would rather to play these games instead of having it in PoE.
The dodge roll is fine, I have no good or bad feelings about it, pretty much all modern game got this sh8t squeezed in their game but what I hate is balancing the game around it. Later in the maps it's all you do, barely even casting, just rolling from a normal mob that potentially 1shots you.
The promised item acquisition and early crafting is nowhere near to what we got promised, it's impossible to get gear in the acts, crafting it on your own is even more absurd as there's practically no currency drops to do it. Best you can do is run through first 3 acts in few rare and magic items with 2-4 options.
The gold sink on respecing passive still tree is way too expensive, and there's no ability to get free respec points. Thus any mistake you make you're punished.

What I absolutely hate is the armor formula they brought from PoE 1 with the flat armor values and phys reduction that nobody understands and perhaps GGG doesn't get it either. This floating values of physical reduction depending on a monster that hits you and having a weird scaling where it's effective against small hits but utterly useless against big bonks just weirds me out for 10 years.

The acts and difficulty weren't problematic for me, but I for one can't see myself playing more than 1-2 characters per league as it is just painfully slow to grind though acts, even if I'll rush thru them it will take 16-20 hours to finish Cruel 3 and get to maps. In PoE 1 for example this process takes me 5-6 hours if I'm going on a league start and under 5 if I'm gearing my second character with tabula etc.
So I can't see that many people trying something different (I'm playing at least 4-5 different builds per PoE 1 league getting them to 95 and then deciding on one to push for 100) - I find it very problematic for PoE 2 to test builds as it would take around 100 hours to do that.

The Skills so far looking pretty bad imo, it doesn't add the promised variety, it just forces you to press more buttons for different debuffs, eg; Flame wall, curse, and your main attack..
Mind you, all of this is already in PoE 1, with only exception - you can automate it there.

Melee on Warrior I didn't enjoy at all (I didn't try Monk yet)
But it's slow and clunky, it absolutely does not add any benefit to fight bosses in melee range (as Jonathan promised) it's just extra danger for no returns.

Hate that you can use specific support gems only in one skill, this again forces you to have only 1 main damaging ability and we're coming back to PoE 1 lol..

Non-existent deterministic craft, only RNG based.
Unique items are much worse and pretty much no uniques to build around.

The unwanted bastard child of Warframe and Destiny 2.

So many games to steal from; mechanics, weapons, gameplay.. What did they decided to yoink? Probably the worst monetization and build timers.

Weapons
- The mod and weapon system is awful, they made it identical to Warframe, but can you believe - it's even worse. You have to switch to new weapons or upgrade them like every 10 minutes as you drop new stuff and the damage is tied to ilvl. If you use new weapon - you have to apply mods to it again. - There's no melee in the game other than "Aura" mod in your character build. - Weapons are very, and I mean VERY basic, there's no secondary fire or any meaningful effects other than from uniques/ultimates eg; Thunger Cage. - All this variety of weapons showered on you practically does nothing other than random stats on weapons, all shotguns shoot the same, all launchers do the same booms, pistols, rifles and other weapons got the same sounds. Compare it to Warframe where every gun out of 300 or more has unique sound to it.

Descendants
- Out of all characters there are few usable ones, the rest of them are what we call "mastery fodder", most of characters got terrible defenses and lack of DPS. - There's no effective aggro for tanks, as enemies aggro to characters with the most amount of DPS, so your squishy character with most damage is also the target for bosses and trash. Ajax does basically nothing but tank occasionally for himself, healers are slow to deploy their skills and actually butthurt to play. - Speaking of healers, if you compare them to the worst healers in Warframe - they'd still lose, as in WF they actually have plenty of utility skills and augments to improve the gameplay for themselves.

Monetization
- It's Nexon baby. You can expect the worst out of it.

The worst mismanagement I've ever seen.
I have played plenty of terrible games that got sold to leech companies which drained them dry, but I have never seen a good and promising (and most importantly very popular product) to be treated like that.

I'm convinced that this project is a massive money laundering machine for Amazon, as everyone (probably 5 people) who are still working on it, are simply incompetent and actively ignoring valid criticism and suggestions from the playerbase..

Early Access -arvostelu
Probably best survival on the market, the gameplay and progression is smooth, the ways of outplaying the game with tricks and smart plays is in place (eg: capturing and raising wolf army early in the game to release them on bosses and completely demolish them)

What got me to stay for 340 hours was the building part and mods. Wish that devs could add more variety into building blocks, brick walls and more of decorative supplies for example.

The gameplay and puzzles make me feel like I'm replaying Half-Life franchise and watching "The Iron Giant" cartoon at the same time, the mini-bosses appearance remind me of Borderlands series.
Overall the game feels like it has taken the best features of these games and smash them all together in this hidden gem, that makes it the best game you'll never play.
It's sad that this game was brutally shoved in market between new Battlefield and CoD games which draw all attention away from it.

I'm recommending this game for absolutely amazing, but, sadly short campaign (6-10h depending on your pace) which is probably the best puzzle-FPS I have played after Half-Life series.

Now, I wouldn't recommend doing this, but if you must, this is probably the easiest way to do it.
