Fun as heck! I beat it in one sitting, just couldn't get my hands off it.

It's refreshing to play as a true bad guy. None of that, 'Oh wait, he's bad at first, but then joins the good guys.'
Nope! Bad to the gene-modified bone, even taunting his enemies as he goes along. The Manhacks are so freakin' useful. Acting as sawblade decoys while you can blast your enemies away.

The music, too! Damn good beats to shoot at unlawful dissidents.

Bad Cop is what every Metro Cop should aspire to be.

while i prefer its story over its sequel, and find it more enjoyable, some of the achievements seem to be a bit broken. notably the rebel kills don't mark off for me past 30, leading me to have to find an alternate method to get the achievements. all the others are well-made and have little references, scavenger hunts, hell...even some somewhat challenging feats, but the last two kind of sour it for me, as i know without making my review stand out, this won't be acknowledged.

Just bad game design.

while i mostly enjoyed this mod, there are two things i didn't really enjoy.
the first thing was the escort, once you split up the only way you can really see is with the flares, but zombies will knock them away.
the second thing was the final boss, i had to use a guide to tell what i was doing.
other then that, i loved the mod and i highly recommend it.

A generally high quality mod with good arena/encounter design, engaging combat puzzles, good pickup balancing, great environments and that classic Half-Life atmosphere. "Bad Cop" difficulty will give source veterans a refreshing challenge but still usually* feels fair.

Minor gripes: puzzle solutions can be a bit convoluted and the progression path isn't always clear, I found the final boss overtuned to the point of frustration, and the flashlight is replaced with a bloom-heavy blue NV filter with a watery distortion effect that can be a bit nauseating to play with-- a bad combination with this mod's extremely dark environments.

Despite these complaints, it's definitely worth a play for dedicated fans of Half-Life 2 if the OG episodes have lost their novelty.
