Damage reduction when attacking from behind
I heard there is a damage reduction when you attack a ship from behind. Anyone know if this is true and how much the reduction is if it is true?

Yes and no. There is, but it's due to a bug rather than by design. I cannot tell you any percentages by which it's reduced.

Roughly 80% or more of your shots at a ship from behind will just go "poof" and do nothing. I reported it awhile ago, not heard anything about a fix.

Ouch.

Only applies while the ship is moving.
Also applies to enemy shots at YOUR ship's butt as you're running away.

So maybe it's not a bug...

Who knows. I reported it as a bug, so apparently they think it is one.
Ahh, so a new strategy: Put all your guns toward the rear and get them to chase you! Or.. does it work if you backup into battle? ;-)

If they are chasing you or you're backing away from them yes it will probably work.

However, if you're flying backwards all your weapons inherit the reverse momentum; so some projectile weapons will either be super slow, be immobile once fired or even fly backwards with you.
