Hey everyone, this mod technically still functions on B18. It will cause a few error messages, but these can be corrected by simply opening the file and changing the version from 17.X.X to 18.X.X (Current version of Rimworld)

Hi, all,

I'm currently out of the modding loop - it's cool for another modder to take this mod, B18 it, and upload/maintain on their own account. Source code is still at the GitHub link, if you wanna fork.

Please credit Spoonshortage for the art, and post in this thread with a link to the updated version.

Thanks, and sorry for the long delay.

Kid: "I want you to splice the genes from a muffalo with the genes from a potbellied pig."

Crazy geneticist: "Excellent Idea! I can see it now; giant muffalo-sized pigs stampeding through the colony, destroying everything; it will be glorious!"

Kid: "No, I wanna make little potbellied muffalos that people can keep as pets!"

Crazy geneticist: "Oh, okay, that's a much better idea!"

All kidding aside, though, I alaso vote for B18 update

Can we plz get B18?
Mitz 6 May, 2018 @ 10:38am
Beta 18 could be nice.

The pygmie ones product less total milk and wool?
Leonidas 7 Jun, 2017 @ 1:30pm
Is it possible to make them capable of hauling? Muffalo are ugly...
dismarzero 6 Jun, 2017 @ 6:26pm
O M G !
alinjana 4 Jun, 2017 @ 4:31am
I just love them, they are so cute! :) Also wool and milk amounts you get from them are well balanced.

ADS compatibility investigation is still on the to-do list, sorry!
Omega13 26 May, 2017 @ 1:19am
Is this compatible with A Dog Said, or is there a chance of a compatibility patch? I think we can all agree that world needs cyborg pygmy muffalo.
Fisty 25 May, 2017 @ 1:13am
SQUEEEEE!!! SO CUTE!! Working perfectly in A17, can tame, mate, and gather from them no problem. =) Thanks for the most awesome mod ever.:B1:

A17 current status report:

* The A17 update WILL break A16 save games: I've made the pygmies use muffalo meat/leather instead of creating their own versions. If you're sticking with A16, either copy the A16 mod into your Mods folder for keeps, or get rid of all your pygmy-muffalo-specific products.

* Changed some numbers to match/balance vanilla muffalo changes.
Tammabanana  [author] 7 May, 2017 @ 3:48pm
@lolyouwish: Nope, not a replacement; the pygmy's just more common in most of their shared biomes, and spawns in some of the biomes that muffalos won't.
lolyouwish 4 May, 2017 @ 2:47pm
Out of curiosity, does this replace the normal muffalo? Since installing it I haven't seen one single muffalo anywhere, just the pygmy ones.
Tammabanana  [author] 8 Apr, 2017 @ 4:21pm
@Omega13: I didn't do anything to make it compatible with A Dog Said. I'll poke around on how one does that.
Tammabanana  [author] 8 Apr, 2017 @ 4:09pm
@Cricket: turn it on and off a few times. (inorite?) I've seen mine retain errors from mods that I'd just disabled, even after the restart. Sometimes it takes two or three tries to clear it out.

I also saw modless errors after reinstalling once, where it claimed that some files were duplicated. Various filths maybe? There's a folder somewhere in Core that got relocated between one alpha and another or something, and uninstall/reinstall didn't wipe the duplicate.
charade539 7 Apr, 2017 @ 5:55pm
I do have a lot of mods. I've recently reinstalled the game and began re-applying them, and it does show an error log when it first boots up even with no mods enabled. So it's probably something on my end.
Omega13 7 Apr, 2017 @ 3:12pm
This mod looks interesting. Is it compatible with A Dog Said? (or, if not, any chance for a compatibility patch?)
Tammabanana  [author] 7 Apr, 2017 @ 2:31pm
@Ashardalon: I didn't write manhunterness into this mod, but if you use Zorba's "The Mad Rabbits Of Caerbannog", manhunter packs can be spawned from any animal at all. I highly recommend it!

@Cricket: Hm, haven't seen that before. I've seen my colonists successfully tame new ones, though I admit I haven't tried training them. It sounds kind of like a mod conflict; can you find your output_log.txt file in the Rimworld/RimworldWin_Data folder, send me a copy, and I'll look it over and poke around?

You could post it at the forum thread for my mods, https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=28381.0 , or I think as an "Issue" on the GitHub (link in the mod description above).

(It may take me some time to poke around. Life, you know.)
Ashardalon 7 Apr, 2017 @ 1:03am
that is probably the cutest thing i have ever seen in rimworld
are there manhunter packs of them?
charade539 6 Apr, 2017 @ 8:08pm
I'm noticing that I cannot seem to tame or train any of the pygmy muffaloes. My trainers are working with the other animals, and they're shear the muffalo I already have (I started with two) but they won't tame more and they won't train Obedience with the others. When I right click on the Pygmy Muffalo nothing happens, I can't even tell my trainers to go train them.
charade539 6 Apr, 2017 @ 4:29pm
They're so cute! Can't wait to have one!
Tammabanana  [author] 5 Apr, 2017 @ 3:45pm
@DireWolf: no known bugs (so far), and it works with current saves. Pygmy muffalo herds won't just pop up on your map, though, you'll have to wait for a herd to migrate in.

Most mods that add NEW animals (or other objects) are fine to add to existing saves, but once they're in, removing the mod is likely to break the game. (The game would be trying to load an object referred to in the save file, but it would have no idea what that object is, so it would freak out.) The fix for that is to delete all the offending objects from the map, save, and then unload the mod. In this case, if you want to turn the mod off again, kill all the pygmy muffalos first.

Umm. Their leather and meat, too, I guess. I meant to make them use regular muffalo meat/leather, but I guess I forgot. I'll have to fix that.

They are so adorble and they are good for arid shrublands.
Bedbugs 3 Apr, 2017 @ 9:18pm
Does this work with current saves? Any known bugs?
