Seems to work fine on 1.5 despite warning
Ralathar44 11 Jan, 2021 @ 3:33pm
Just be happy and well :). If mods lapse, they lapse, someone will pick up the torch. Thank you for all the hard work on mods you've done until now and will do in the future :D.

Happy (late) New Year everyone, I apologize for the long delay for 1.2. I'll try my best to keep up on updates so another hiatus like this doesn't happen again. As always, if you find something is broken, please let me know.

pgames-food 28 Apr, 2020 @ 7:01pm
hi thanks for efficient batteries :)

btw i can see how Random Research could be fun :)

im still trying to bring my 500+ v1.0 savegame into 1.1 and there are Tons of research still to unlock - even with the brain in a jar mod and bonuses below :)

(i'll have to try it in a new game sometime)

:). It's mainly all the added mod researches combined with random researches that made me speed it up. When you've got 30 possible options instead of 10 at each tier it becomes hard for RNG to choose the ones you need to progress. So I end up clearing most of a tier of research before getting key technologies. It's especially bad with a few like misc robots with poor research organization. Since you can research all of the parts without actually researching how to craft the robots I've ended up in dumb situations where I could craft T3/T4 parts but could not craft a T1 robot lol.

Most mods that add research make them dependent on each other in a logical manner but a few just like throw up 15 researches without any gating and so it bloats the choices that can be randomly selected.
cyano 2 Mar, 2020 @ 8:10pm
@LazyRed That's awesome, and of course you can add a link to it

@Ralathar44 I use "Change Research Speed" as well, though I like to set it to 4x. If you have a dedicated scientist or two in a colony, it doesn't take long for them to reach lvl 20, which makes research happen a little too fast for my taste. I'm in it for the long haul :)
Ralathar44 2 Mar, 2020 @ 3:00pm
The combination of these 3 together means that research just kind of happens in the background without me needing to designate it and happens era appropriately almost exclusively. Feels alot more natural of a research flow. Changing the research speed to be faster helps compensate for the research time increase to progress you get from having alot of mod researches combined with the lack of guidance of being random.

I find I rather like that combo :).
Ralathar44 2 Mar, 2020 @ 3:00pm
I'd recommend combining that patch mod with "TechBlock": https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1970774610 . So that you can't just focus power through tech levels without doing at least a little research in that era.

If you're a masochist, like me, then also add "Random Research": https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1374065851 . Random research makes your research random like it suggests.

I combine Random Research with "Change Research Speed": https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1182992587 . Setting it at 0.6 was the sweet spot for me, making research take 60% as long (IE 40% faster).
LazyRed  [author] 2 Mar, 2020 @ 2:31pm
@crewd That is absolutely fine. I actually subscribed to it myself for my next playthrough. If you wouldn't mind could I add the link to the description?
cyano 2 Mar, 2020 @ 1:43pm
@Vats I like that idea. Makes you have to work a bit harder for the good stuff, and not be able to just beeline directly for the best model. So I made a small patch mod for this to do just that:
Efficient Batteries Hardcore Research Patch .
@LazyRed I hope this is ok by you.
Vats 1 Mar, 2020 @ 11:54am
Thanks for updating. this is the most balanced mod for batteries I know.

Perhaps the only suggestion I'd have would be to put Hyper batteries behind the Advanced Research Bench and Ultra batteries behind the Multi-Analyzer.
Koi 1 Mar, 2020 @ 10:30am
Thank you so much for updating.
cyano 1 Mar, 2020 @ 8:38am
This is a pretty cool mod, thanks. Btw, you don't need to copy the BuildingBase ThingDef from Core to Batteries.xml - it's just redundant and could brake things if Core ever gets changed (probably not going to be, but still).
Ralathar44 1 Mar, 2020 @ 7:38am
Woo Wew. Thank you. Vanilla batteries are so bad :D.
LazyRed  [author] 1 Mar, 2020 @ 7:37am
Updated for 1.1. All of you on 1.0 still should be able to keep playing without any issues.
Ralathar44 29 Feb, 2020 @ 8:03pm
I miss mah batteries. Update when you can <3.
Sybreal 29 Feb, 2020 @ 4:57am
Will there be an update for 1.1?
LS-Swapped Cessna 28 Nov, 2019 @ 5:32pm
Finally, some good fucking food batteries.

Excllent! Thanks LazyRed, I prefer this mod since the batteries are more vanilla friendly that some other mods but not being able to move them was... troublesome!
LazyRed  [author] 1 Nov, 2018 @ 7:40am
@The Iron Angel Thanks for catching that. All of the batteries should be moveable now like they had been.
The Iron Angel 31 Oct, 2018 @ 10:39pm
Hey LazyRed, are the batteries 'minifiable'/'packable' by design? I ask since I can't 'relocate' the Effecient Battery. If they aren't would you consider adding this to the mod as the vanilla batteries have this option.
LazyRed  [author] 19 Oct, 2018 @ 9:14am
Updated for V1.0. Those of you on B19 will still be able to play and finish your games without any issues despite it saying it's incompatible.

@LazyRed

TheEpicKnight91 29 Aug, 2018 @ 2:20pm
I cant really play my world unless I have the b18 version of this mod.
TheEpicKnight91 29 Aug, 2018 @ 10:03am
Can you link a b18 version please
Dacrol 12 May, 2018 @ 6:08am
The mod SS Bigger Batteries has assemblies for disabling the "need batteries" notification. You can copy the Assemblies folder into this mod to disable it, or just install that mod and don't use the batteries.
Depleted 3 May, 2018 @ 4:52pm
A cool idea i came up with is for batteries to use that alloy mod, bronze rated copper batteries could be 60%-75%, silver rated copper zinc plated bats could be up to 85%, and the cream of the crop - gold rated copper gold plated batts could be 90-100%.

that or don't use the alloy mod at all and just have them named bronze silver and gold rated batteries with corrisponding increases in capacity and efficiency.

I came up with le idea while thinking about the rating system for computer power supplies as the 12v rails are given a rating with gold being the best.
Eon 3 Apr, 2018 @ 5:53am
Out of curiosity any reason you can't fix the notification issue? I know there was at least one or 2 other battery mods in the past that did this and I don't recall hearing them having complaints about this notification issue.
Shadi 24 Dec, 2017 @ 12:55am
are these compatible with fuses?
jetderg?!  [author] 16 Dec, 2017 @ 9:01am
Yeah, that's mentioned in the "Known Bugs"
Garr Incorporated 16 Dec, 2017 @ 8:35am
Um... These batteries are not counted as "batteries" when it decides to send message "Need batteries". It's not harmful, just annoying a bit.
Gilgamesh 22 Nov, 2017 @ 8:06pm
Thank you red!
LazyRed  [author] 22 Nov, 2017 @ 6:12pm
After 2 days of waiting its finally here... The infamous B18 update. Have fun guys.
jetderg?!  [author] 22 Nov, 2017 @ 7:35am
He gonna work on it, he was a bit of a tard and though B18 was a beta version of the alpha build.
Simply Pika 22 Nov, 2017 @ 6:34am
Would be real nice with a B18 update
Tony Hawk 20 Nov, 2017 @ 2:27pm
Did somebody say... UPDATE!?!
Gilgamesh 20 Nov, 2017 @ 1:47pm
Hmm last post in June.... No-one asking for an update to B18 yet... Gotta fix that.

Update to B18 please?
jetderg?!  [author] 14 Jun, 2017 @ 2:30pm

LazyRed  [author] 4 Jun, 2017 @ 10:34pm
Yes, they are updated for A17.
caninmyham 4 Jun, 2017 @ 10:14pm
Does this work with A17?
LazyRed  [author] 27 May, 2017 @ 7:32pm
@Alexander.Irons Yes, they do have their own research requirements. The requirements unlock after you research vanilla batteries.
