To answer both questions below:
1. M16 and MK.18 didn't have carry handles before the nightfall update.
2. The handle for M4 is bugged due to the position of the original model.

NWI will fix it on its own.

M4 is completly new gun, m16 received a new carry handle by its own and mk18 still is default. My mod now only affects carry handles for the mk18 in 1st person and w_models for all 3.

#question# I have seen some pictures of the new DLC and played a bit of it and I am fairly unsure about this. Has NWI updated the M4, M16, and Mk18 so that they now all have carry handles, or is this mod still relevant to the DLC?

In short: Google is your friend. In Long: googled for the dev site and its forum and saw some topics, where official NWI devs explained why it is right now and it will be fixed. (It's the aimpoints fault, btw)

You need this [nemesis.thewavelength.net]

Once you've installed it, here is the process:

1. When you open the .vpk, click on the left on the "root"-folder and drag it outside (maybe to your desktop or something)
2. You now have a folder called "root" on your desktop, rename it to something else, we'll call it "Carrier"
3. Go into "Carrier\models\weapons\upgrades\"
4. delete the following files: "a_standard_mk18.dx90.vtx", "a_standard_mk18.mdl", "a_standard_mk18.vvd", "w_flipup2.dx90.vtx", "w_flipup2.mdl" and "w_flipup2.vvd"

(Steps 5 & 6 are optional)
5. Go into "Carrier\materials\models\weapons\"
6. delete "carryhandle.vmt" & "carryhandle.vtf"

7. Go to your steam folder
8. Get to "steamapps\common\insurgency2\bin\"
9. Take folder "Carrier" and drag it onto the file VPK.Exe
10. You're done

Put that into the folder "custom" and don't forget to delete my "carry_handle_1.2.vpk"

Not possible because that would require a whole new set of animations.
The animations dictate the height of the model and to make your suggestion possible, it would require to lower to gun in order to look through the mounted optic.

#icanread #question# Hey Blackjack, sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if there would be any way you can create a carrying handle mount rail.(i.e., mounting optics directly on top of the carrying handle). The current system works fine as it is, but it's a pain in the ass to aim with the AR-15 series of rifles due to the blocky front iron sight post.

My mod does nothing with the UMP.
It's simply broken due to the latest patch that changed the animations script.
Brightside works on it to fix it.

It seems that when I use the UMP Reanimated mod it conflicts with something in this mod...not sure why. Anyway, when I try to use the UMP it keeps doing the pulling the bolt back animation constantly and also does it when I try to zoom in

Propably because it's such an iconic feature of the M16, i mean that's how i feel about.

An M16 without its carry handle is like a Kalashnikov without its gas-system barrel.
