Late to the party but it has been updated for 1.5. And with it, i patched the vanilla hidden conduit, which takes two cables to build instead of the two steel.
喵酱official 29 May @ 7:42pm
please 1.5
Kirren Cooper 19 May @ 1:36am
waiting for 1.5 for this dope mod
Senilia 13 Apr @ 2:58am
1.5?
Tourman 7 Apr @ 8:10pm
Need an official patch
Slikkelas 24 Mar @ 4:52pm
This works perfectly fine in 1.5.
Just edit the About.xml file to 1.5 and you are good to go.
I can confirm it works on vanilla hidden conduits.

Can you make an optional patch for adding rubber from https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3046070864&searchtext= to the cables? Or maybe more fitting would be for the conduits that don't short circuit in the rain.
Lurmey 9 Dec, 2023 @ 3:52pm
Suggestion: have two types of cables: insulated and uninsulated. Insulated cables require chemfuel + metal to craft (steel, or copper with EM Metals) and uninsulated don't require chemfuel.

Vanilla conduits are built with uninsulated cables, hence are vulnerable to the bzzzt event, however all other types of conduits (undergroun conduits for instance) use insulated cables, explaining why they don't allow the bzzzt event.

So far I'm satisfied with how this mod turned out to be and I don't plan to expand on it the time being, as I have not only other projects, but also matters irl to attend. Do note tho that I read every of the comments I get and some of the propositions I see are interesting
SkylineOdeum 8 Dec, 2023 @ 7:51am
Have you looked into the mods that have rubber farming? Would be awesome to have some recipes that provide rubber coated cables. Many thanks for the awesome mod!
cralis7 1 Dec, 2023 @ 1:28am
Could I recommend that you add a couple of additional recipes for the cables? In reality, cables are commonly made from tin, iron, steel, gold and silver. The fundamental problem is that a lot of custom starts don't include cables and when using a mod like Expanded Materials, there is no guarantee that you'll have copper on your starting map. If I had to only choose one metal for this, I'd add silver because most starts have silver and you can easily get it from trade; but it would be nice to see all conductive metals as a possibility...
Kirren Cooper 19 Nov, 2023 @ 7:38am
I'd recommend you also add cables to:
The Rich Explorer
The Mechanitor

There's more from popular mods but I think those are the base game/DLC ones where it makes sense.

The Sanguophage is a toss up between having them or not, as you supposedly "barely escaped' someone who was hunting you before coming to the rimworld, but you do start with some steel and components and electricity research, so I guess adding some cables would make sense, though it should probably be a lower amount than in the other scenarios.
Kirren Cooper 18 Nov, 2023 @ 10:49pm
Nice! :D
MedicalPol  [author] 18 Nov, 2023 @ 3:36pm
@AuntyDonna thanks for the info about the oversight.
MedicalPol  [author] 18 Nov, 2023 @ 3:34pm
Update:

- Added 75 cables in the crashlanded start items list.
- You can extract a few cables from a batch of components.
magww 14 Nov, 2023 @ 8:20pm
Really love this, rimworld really needs more component like creations to make factories necessary. Any hillbilly in the back of his garage can build a charge mini gun because all it needs is some blue metal, a circuit board from literally anywhere and a few bits of metal rock. Its ridiculous. I really hope to see more stuff like this.
Kirren Cooper 4 Nov, 2023 @ 11:38am
p.s. when I say the base game scenarios I obviously mean the ones where it would make sense, not naked brutality or tribal starts for example.
Kirren Cooper 4 Nov, 2023 @ 11:38am
Hey there, just an idea, since this mod adds an extra layer of complexity that the base game doesn't have, it might make sense to add say 30-50 cables to the base game starting scenarios, and potentially add it to the deconstruction rewards for ship chunks, which I think would make sense.

Another idea could be breaking down components into wires at around 10 wires per component.

Or I guess you could just add cloth to the starting resources.

Otherwise, as is, in the early game you're locked behind growing some cotton or getting chemfuel production before you can make cables, despite being able to construct other more complex electrical devices.
Vardath 18 Oct, 2023 @ 9:54pm
Love it!
MedicalPol  [author] 18 Oct, 2023 @ 11:07am
@RealLifeHobgoblin Nah i don't have github and, - about your idea - i recommend you post it on the rimworld discord server for more visibility.
MedicalPol  [author] 18 Oct, 2023 @ 11:03am
@zyzyhasl It would be too much of a hassle to make pipes being stuffable/being made of other materials balance wise (and xml wise quite frankly). But you're always free to modify the mod yourself if you want them made from other materials
MedicalPol  [author] 18 Oct, 2023 @ 10:57am
@Manolo UPC works as intended, the underground waterproof conduits steel cost is lessened but is still present as you need to protect them cables for the water
MedicalPol  [author] 18 Oct, 2023 @ 10:52am
Update:

- Added patches for : Rimforge power poles/Rimforge, Geneforge, Akeron - Decorations, Bill Doors' Plasma Weapon
zyzyhasl 9 Oct, 2023 @ 10:28pm
管道似乎只能用钢铁制作?可以添加其他可制作材料吗?
RealLifeHobgoblin 8 Oct, 2023 @ 3:34pm
Also, an idea for bases like mine that have several pipe networks that find me overlaying pipes from several different mods in the same tile. I'm happy that they're all compatible and overlap. But some kind of "universal pipe assembly" where I pay 10 pipes for one tile of piping that will work for every network would be interesting.
Do you have a github?
RealLifeHobgoblin 8 Oct, 2023 @ 3:25pm
Please consider patching the air pipes and lizion pipes in Bill Doors' Plasma Weapons https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2937054043
Thank you!
Senilia 8 Oct, 2023 @ 8:43am
Akeron - Decorations thank you
Manolo 29 Sep, 2023 @ 8:59am
please fix Underground Power Conduits still use steel for the waterproof counduit
Manolo 29 Sep, 2023 @ 8:51am
Support for this mod please Underground Power Conduits

Could you add a patch for geneforge with it's pipes?
theccccccccccccccccccccccccccccc 10 Sep, 2023 @ 5:39am
a patch for rimforge power poles would be dope
MedicalPol  [author] 9 Sep, 2023 @ 11:57am
Update:

- Added patches for : Fortification Industrial - Citadel, Milk pipe network, Dubs Central Heating
- Fixed a few bugs
MedicalPol  [author] 5 Sep, 2023 @ 3:27pm
Studies have been sweeping through my energy, i'll try to look at it
Bean! ♥ 5 Sep, 2023 @ 2:53pm
The compatibility patch for Subsurface Conduit does not seem to be working
Either that or I have the wrong mod (most subscribed under that name)
Changing the target ThingDef to MUR_SubsurfaceConduit fixed the issue
Nadia_Rising 3 Sep, 2023 @ 7:44am
Any chance of making this compatible with Dubs Bad Hygiene water and AC pipes? This looks great, thank you!
Fumblesneeze 3 Sep, 2023 @ 5:28am
sweet, overlooked that. great job!
MedicalPol  [author] 3 Sep, 2023 @ 5:05am
@AugustDrake @AuntyDonna thanks for the info, i'll look into it

@evytb Only a matter of time

@Fumblesneeze already done

how long until you add wire size and voltage drop
Dentedhelm 1 Sep, 2023 @ 8:23pm
finally I can steal copper in rimworld
seba jedna wjeba 1 Sep, 2023 @ 3:46pm
some people just want to watch the world burn
will1707 1 Sep, 2023 @ 1:10pm
What a needlessly annoying little mod.

I love the idea. More please?
Kirren Cooper 1 Sep, 2023 @ 6:26am
Hey, just so you know, this isn't patched for dubs central heating, which splits heating into a separate piping system to regular plumbing if it's used with DBH.
[kk_Leg] kRIEGER 31 Aug, 2023 @ 12:47am
Aaah, this is the kind of mod which will just make my experience more painfull and I don't really need but hell I'm gonna subscribe to it !

Also nice touch with the grave on the last screenshot !
AugustDrake 30 Aug, 2023 @ 4:29pm
You should know running Bad Hygiene + EM Metals freaks out air pipes.
William de Burge 30 Aug, 2023 @ 3:13pm
There is another mod that uses a source>pipe>tank system

Milk Pipe Network

Thanks
Senilia 30 Aug, 2023 @ 8:17am
The facility cables in 'Fortification Industrial - Citadel', thank you.
Wolfy 29 Aug, 2023 @ 10:35pm
Oooh I do like me some more complexity grind, sad I can't use this in my medieval runs though. Still a nice mod, thanks!
