Okay, that gives me a little more clue as to what's going on. It might be the large number of sprites on the character. It could also be the character's unique character select huds might be the cause of it.I think I need to simplify and streamline my character's CSS code anyways, it's pretty bloated and includes a lot of features that aren't really used.

For Iroh and Sailee, they have a lot of sprites since Iroh has SL mode and Sailee has an alternate skin. I can try using the small sprites functionality, maybe that may help with memory but I'd have to re-export a lot of sprites and also redo some drawing code.

I hesitate to make a lite version as a separate upload cause that means that I'd need to maintain two sets of patches on two characters and that makes it complicated.

The main issue is that might take a while since I have a lot going on in life right now. It may take a while, like several months or longer, since I had a major life change recently. Sorry in advance.

Basically its not anything the character does itself, its just the fact it loads to much in ram. The crash is never ingame, and it will be exclusively when loading in the second character due to the ram usage going over 3.2gb (this one uses about 1gb for myself and I only have a headroom of 1.6gb). Which grants a ram allocation crash, Other ones I know cause this sort of issue is your Sailee mod and Tzukiyo mods. Example's from other peoples mod's who i found a similar issue is SURVEY_PROGRAM (aka roaring knight) from Retronyaical. Monarch by selrate has a 'lite' version that reduces the complexity of some vfx and removes some skins and that leads to it using quite a bit less ram in memory.

Honestly if you could make a 'lite' version of the other two mods i mentioned you made aswell would be cool as those are fun and I love your characters style. It just sucks that for some reason my system has stupid low ram headroom for rivals compared to the average system

Hello, sorry for the delayed response. I have a lot going on in my life and I am not able to do much regarding modding at the moment
@Ojo de Oro This character has been tournament legal for years in most circuits. You'd need to be specific on what you think is too strong so I can evaluate it. I balanced the character using data from base cast, so if you think there's a move that's too centralizing or something, let me know and I can compare it to existing base cast moves.
@AshTheMoth I am not exactly sure what would be causing that. I know that the character can sometimes crash after like an hour or so of playing, but I am not exactly sure what causes it. I do use a system for swapping sprites on Iroh for SL mode that may be some of the cause, but I can't really remove that for a "lite" version since its at the core of the character.

I probably should have specified, huh? It's that last hit. I've had instances where even good DI is an instant kill at 30% Midstage. The knockback, or I guess KB Growth, seems to be the issue.

@Oersted, what are you asking to be decreased? Damage / killing power / active time? I can recompare the numbers to the base game characters and see if there's something I can tune.

Supremely fun character to fight against, but man that d-strong is overtuned as hell, a slight decrease sometime would be nice

@opengunner dam thats sad to hear ik he wouldve won for sure honestly from what i see but the i know there gonna make another contest or at some point and some charaters would be added from there the only thing i hope is he makes a comeback when the rivals 2 workshop comes out id love to see that happen

@Cri$py Iroh was made before the contest ever started. The rules of the contest specifically stated that no characters made before it were allowed. As such, I could not enter him and the contest results already happened nearly a year ago.

@Opengunner thank you so much hmhm, and don't worry i want the challenge cause this and scratch&bite are the only good stance characters i've seen hmhm.i wanna add my own twist with it but it's percent based and until death rather than manually activated

@suveranai There's a couple of components to make the stance change work. 1st is the visual sprite component. I used Supersonic's skin sprite system that he shares in ExW. This manages the changing of the sprites when he's in that stance. 2nd the actual changes for the mode are handled by checking a variable to see if he's in the mode and adjusting the attacks based on that variable in update.gml and attack_update.gml. SL Iroh does not have a different set of base stats, rather he has modifications to his code that allow him to use these custom states like the air dash and ground dash, which are actually custom attacks in the at_extras slot that are being called. You can change attack states using set_attack_value() and set_window_value() and set_hitbox_value() for what ever you need. But coding a stance change character is difficult, SL Iroh was the 4th character I coded and even then was pretty challenging.

hello creater(s) of iroh i was wondering if i may ask you questions on how you made specifically two aspects of iroh work as i'm trying to make my own workshop character that would have something similar to sanguine lightning stance, as well as the no i frames air dash launcher. i'm not intending to steal anything from the character, just wanting to know how to code a whole different set of stats. also i love iroh a lot even if i suck with him, very fun, fundamentalistic footsie character.

@KennEH! This character is ineligible because he came out before the contest was announced. They did not allow any previous characters released to be included, so we can't include him unfortunately.

@Opengunner Oh I see. It's strange though, I've only ever had this issue when fighting against specifically Daora, all the other times I've never crashed with Iroh UNLESS the other play loaded Daora

@236NintenSt I have seen this crash before, specifically on Iroh. I don't think it has anything to do with Daora. But it specifically crashes during the sprite loading and I don't really know why Problem is that I am not sure what causes it or how to fix it, I have been changing stuff on Iroh since release to try to fix this but I can't recreate it very well. It comes and goes. I don't know how to really address it though, since something crashing while allocating sprite data is not something I can really debug. This means it crashes before it even loads the code for the character.

@236NintenST Sorry for the late response, I have been a bit busy this week. I got a simialr notice on Daora's page about this (which I assume is your friend?) Let me see if I can recreate this issue this weekend. Is there any crash report or indication of why it crashes? In the mean time, sometimes files don't properly download or patch so could I ask you and the person you are playing with to try to unsubscribe and resubscribe from both characters to see if there is potentially an incorrect file? It's like validating files on steam.

Hey absolutely love this character, definitely one of my fave workshop characters. Idk if it's been pointed out but you cannot play him with or against someone playing Daora. The game always seemingly crashes when me and my friend try to.

Iroh's SL ground dash can't actually be canceled into any attack, the animation has to finish before an attack comes out; so in practice you can't attack at any point before the max distance of SL Dash's is reached, limiting it's utility as a approach option. Most dashes work the way you actually described it.

Character in my opinion is perfect, sprite's and sfx are great, and the victory theme is just a banger, he also feel's like a combination of ssb4 bayonetta and ssbu pikachu albeit balanced enough to where you can only feel hint's of their overpoweredness, but one thing I would love to see a Tai Lung skin.

@neurosis51 - Yeah, doing a lot of dynamic programming for Fspecial location versus moving could introduce some problems into the character, and old Iroh was known as very buggy, so I tried to keep it stable for release. I may revisit it in the past. But Iroh has a history of causing issues in brackets, so I am wary of buffing him in any capacity right now. I play in brackets so making sure I got everything well tuned is important to me.

@opengunner hmm, I get your intent with not wanting the F-special being overpowered, but the way the hit and hurt boxes align don't come off as intentional since they don't line up in a way that reflects the direction chosen, it's all the same.And as for the up-special, it is a good kill option, but I meant specifically not going into pratfall only when you connect with it, but if you say tourney players are still complaining about it even in Iroh's normal state,then I guess give it some more time like you said. I thought old Iroh was clunky and unfun to play for the most part.

@hyper charcola 9000, You can see the SL sprite in the CSS if you use the sub menu -> extra alts -> show SL sprites. You can also shift the alts to access more made by some of his beta testers.
