Dirt Bricks

Maybe the hay recipe can be used to make actual mud bricks, or even fire them at a crematorium or something to reinforce them. It could look better, withstand more damage. But most probably the author meant dirt bricks by literal blocks of dirt, hence the shit stats.

"Umm.. You should be using at least use Hay for ingredients. Traditionally, that was how mud bricks were made." :nerd:

Chunk walls come from vfe medieval - "cobblestone" iirc. I still think these are great though. Chunk walls are very slow to build, these can go up quite fast with a decent crafter.

Love this concept. You should call this "Sod Walls", and they should have slightly better insulation than wood and require no skill to make (but worse in every other way). This is one of the most basic human building materials and we should be able to start with it. Great idea for Wild West/Settler plays.

@SunGod I came in here to look at dirt, not be personally attacked.

I have entirely too many mods, I shouldn't be browsing in the workshop!

Oooh, what's this? Dirt Bricks, you say? Good for early game, you say?

Well, I'm pretty sure I can make an exception for this little gem.

It's actually being used in some places right now as a carbon-neutral alternative to concrete.

I get you want to balance it... but this is actually a thing, and IRL it's pretty viable. It's called 'rammed earth', it's really old and it's actually extremely sturdy - its only real weakness is driving rain/moisture and there are still standing buildings made of it that are centuries old.

I love this mod, especially for the mud brick / Ancient clay hut building. But, this mod also allows for dirt weapons, which means we can have tribals/pirates spawning in with dirt clubs and other funny dirt based mele weapons. Not sure if there is a way to disable this, or if you would even want to, but it's a funny quirk of the mod for sure.

if rimworld ever has a layer-mod then i will 100% make a giant dirt hill in the mountains.
Blutdrachen 2 Sep, 2022 @ 4:47pm
Good. a suitably crappy low value material to build slave hovels. Thank you for the mod.
Gutterpunk 2 Sep, 2022 @ 4:02pm
Ok but if I make dirt walls 9x9 and fill the room with dirt did I make a hill

Omg hobbit houses time
budisourdog 2 Sep, 2022 @ 12:44pm
Might be a meme but sounds actually useful for cheap entrenchments and building obstacles for raiders to pathfind around, that don't burn down every lightning storm or boom-animal getting eaten.
CheeseWheelGuy 2 Sep, 2022 @ 12:37pm
not even good for early game, good for initial game. either way, it's a great material to make less-cared about colonists' houses out of. 10/10 would subcrebe again
