@Lebron Jeemes
For now, yep. The default Survivors don't have any values set to use stretchmap textures. Even if you made a mod that gave them said values, L4D2 wouldn't load them. I've tested it out with other Source games, like TF2 and SFM, and they work fine.

True, literally the most useless mod ever, but the small details is what makes things great!

Thanks!!

Both stretch and compress make up wrinkle maps, but the game only allows compress (as shown above.) But hey, compress is better than nothing!

If you'd like to learn more, there's a Wiki that goes over the details and implementations on Wrinkle Maps.

So stretchmaps are actually wrinklemaps, they cause face wrinkles to appear on a character when doing certain facial expressions. Damn it would be cool to get that working with Left 4 Dead 2.

Stretchmaps are the opposite; instead of a texture changing from lowering/compressing the character's... Let's say their brows for example, if they raise/stretch their brows it'll use a different stretch texture.

Refer to this Heavy reference.

OH damn. So what do "stretchmaps" look like? Are they literally stretched skin?
MSF  [author] 7 Jun, 2022 @ 10:30am
Correct. They work in other games like GMOD, TF2, SFM... But both L4D and L4D2 only have the compress textures working.

Wait so the SFM Stretch & Compress maps don't work then? This looks really cool.
