The XM25 was not a bad weapon, but it was heavier than an M320, and it couldn't be attached to a carbine like one, so the grenadier needed to carry two weapons.

Sure the XM29 may be suitable for just one grenadier's use in an entire squad, but yeah, having it to replace the standard issue is just too much of a problem, and the concept of XM25 is just inferior to what the majority chose to go with eventually I suppose.

Not really, what actually happened was that the army made a mistake by trying to make the XM29 a general-issue weapon, instead of treating it as a grenade launcher with a built-in carbine for self-defense. The XM29 would have worked fine as a grenadier weapon, but it just wasn't suited for mass infantry use.

The XM25 compounded the problem by removing the built-in carbine, meaning that any grenadier who used it had to carry a separate carbine. Between carrying an XM25 and an M4, or an M4 with an attached M320, pretty much everyone chose the latter. It was lighter, more compact and way easier to use than logging two weapons around.

In the end, the only weapon from the program that was put in service was the M320(a somewhat modified XM320) to replace the aging M203.

And yeah, everyone with underbarrel M203s have proven to be more useful than having an independent Grenadier that can easily became the priority target for the enemy.

You know, like how the US did with M79 in Vietnam.

The XM25 was doomed from the start, but the XM29 could have worked if the US military had it's priorities straight, especially given several weapons like it have been put into service since.

The XM8 was always a case of the gun being "cool" over anything else. The futuristic look made it rather appealing for game designers.

Yeah lol, people just got a different view on what will be in the future back in the days I suppose, for example Battlefield Bad Company 2 had the US using XM8 as the future standard issue, while Battlefield 2042 features the SIG MCX as the new standard issue.

(Although this time they're actually right though, since US did just decided to adopted them as a part of the NGSW program.)

It's so weird seeing games set in the near future from or around the years they're set in. Crysis came out a year before this and had futuristic XM8 assault rifles and gauss sniper cannons in the year 2020.

Damn I don't remember the viewmodels of this being unoptimized. I just assumed they were optimized like the Homefront ones.

hey i was wondering if you could do a commision (no it isnt a weapon so dont worry) anyways i was wondering if you could make 1 out of the 2 of the following

1: some of the spaceships/vehicles from cod IW (mainly the big ones)
