Will this work with 2nd unique infrastructure's Gracht??
i.e. inland city (no canal) connects to sea by Gracht, now city gets canal.

@[PIGZ]MrTango that is ABSOLUTELY one of the few flaws of this mod. You know how BADASS a city one a peninsula surrounded by cliffs would look sans canal?

So I have Sukritact's Yongle's Grand Canal, does that count or is it only the Grand Canal Wonder mod?

Suez Canal is compatible but Grand Canal is not (city canal graphics will not follow this mod's restrictions with Grand Canal enabled), and the Grand Canal mod author has no desire to fix whatever he broke when he borrowed Leugi's Suez code. Good to know it wasn't this mod that was broken though, I despise the city canal on coastal cities.

A city at the tip of a peninsular doesn't have canal (yay) but will if the peninsular tip is cliffs around to both sides (not-yay).

How to delete cliff canals
-Launch Steam and click on the Library tab at the top.
-Right-click on any installed game on the left side, and under Manage select Browse local files.
-Go back two folders to the steamapps folder by clicking on the upper arrow next to the file path.
-Open the workshop folder, then go to the content folder.
-Open the folder with the game’s ID to find all the Workshop mods and content.
-Sort through folders to find CityCanalRework_Config
-Open with Notepad and set "CLIFF_CANAL = 1 "to be "CLIFF_CANAL = 0"

@Rdner thank you so much! that helped a little bit, it is still glitching, are you able to change the outline from 3.5 to 0? I think that could fix the problem

@Danny yup, it will show up when connecting 2 bodies of water (can be the same water). Theres an exemption to this, when settling on a small island (4 or less land tiles) the canal should not show up regardless, this can be change by editing the config file however.

Just thought I'd say I tested the ways the canals come out in the city to be sure what exactly what it mean by connecting 2 bodies of water. It can be the same body of water as long as they are not touching around the city center because I settled on a tile that was surrounded by water on the coast except for 1 tile and it DID NOT build the canal which I was glad to see cuz it looks really strange otherwise. but 1 tile above the land split the same body of water and it made a canal through the city which felt appropriate. I thought it actually meant 2 different bodies of waters not touching such as an ocean and lake for example. Great mod!

Theres a file inside this mods folder named CityCanalRework_Config which you can disable the cliff canal grahic. I prefer this as an embark/disembark indicator though.

@[PIGZ]MrTango This mod works with city lights in my system. Can you share a link to a saved file where I can check? There might be a Lua error in your game, when any installed mod spits out a Lua error it affects this mod as well and shows the canal graphic as a result.

With city lights enabled, the canals go back to "vanilla"-GS rules.

Ok, i appreciate your answer, but, as i told you in the past, the mod doesnt work here, and i still dont get your objective, so, i uninstalled, unfortunally. I dont use leigis city pack either, doesnt work here, game crash, other sorry

There is an error in modding.log about cant load art from City Styles Pack. Dont worry about this, its just a warning about missing dependency if [GS] Leugi's City Styles Pack mod is not present (this mod also affects the new canal art in City Styles Pack mod if installed).

Would you consider making a version of this mod without necessary exemptions? For example sometimes I prefer a city like constantinople (on a single tile between two bodies of water) to be fully walled.

Agree that the boats should pass through a city connecting to bodies of water. And Civ6 did a poor job implementing that. What Firaxis should have done was "simulate" that a boat was dragged over land (like the vikings did far into Europe river systems) by using all movement points to get onto land, and all movement points to get back onto water.
But we play the game with what we got.

@Puddings, Cliff would just suppress the effect of this mod so it would just look the same in the base game. @ChrisMartin that could work but there are mechanics that canal graphic can be a useful indicator early in the game.

This change is soooo welcoming! Why this isn't in the game, baffles me.
When establish a city in year 4000 BC, it has man-made canal, is so lame.
This mod is so simple, but I love it!

Could it be done so the visual of a canal in cities on valid plots, only is visible after the discovery of canal districts?

I notice this now as it happened in my test. It seems a rare visual bug in the base game and is not from this mod. Tiles affected by random events like floods and volcano eruptions sometimes doesn't update its visual graphic, this occurs on large map with many cities/districts in late game. Im working on a fix on this atm.

I was having an issue where tiles submerged by water via climate change were shown as normal land. I disabled this mod and it seems to have corrected itself in my game. I enjoy the mod, so hopefully this can be resolved somehow.
