parts of SE's tech really is old :)

The batteries you're talking about may be nickel or lead-acid, this mod pretends the game's batteries are made out of lithium

Nickel based: 80%
Lead-acid:85-90%
Lithium batteries:95-99%

thats not how the batteries work by the way, batteries in real life do have a 20% loss.

Well, i've been looking for this for a long time, even tried to do something like you're talking about but didn't find enough poeple that wanted to play this way.
Whatever, let me know if someday you start this over !

We used to do events where we would do what I like to call a ''Rock bottom Start''
In these you would spawn with 0 hydrogen, no tools, no respawn ships and no starting base:
You would have to find a way by scavenging debris or doing jobs, and all that struggle just to get your first set of tools
I'll clean up an old discord server I have so people can discuss about the mod or LFG survival servers

I used to host them and they were kinda popular but I'll wait until a cpu upgrade before doing so again

And Great job AdrianOkay btw !

good things my friend.....

sidenote, people will request several features to be separate mods, you might want to consider that.

I always figured that breaking a fully charged battery should definitely result in some kind of energy release. It has charges on the order of MWh, yet at once bringing them together seems to do nothing. Where does the energy go?

My request: battery go small boom, boom proportional to charge.

Ha ha no pressure! I just subbed earlier, and when I checked the Build Info block stats, the original batteries all had your modified values, but the large and small grid warfare batteries were still at stock values.

I supposed that the warfare 2 batteries grabbed the stats from the regular batteries but if you say so I guess I'll have to take a look
condottiere 27 Jun, 2022 @ 11:40pm
Will you update this for the warfare 2 batteries?

oh yurand does have a nice eye for realism or just nice mods. imma YOINK this for my main rover base. (small battery room only about a block thick with my genis and my better hydrogen systems from other mods

I like the idea behind this. Batteries, reactors and power in general is a bit off and I understand its for the casual gamer but mods like this make it fun. Keep at it

To answer you both:
The efficiency that i did was a placeholder at 99% to kind of pretend they are using lithium instead of nickel, I did some extra research and i was going to make it overly complicated, even making the efficiency change depending on charge but decided to keep it at 99% for now.

And yes, I could in theory add a pre-charged power cell, and I wouldn't need to create a new block, but a power cell that takes as much time to be assembled as energy the assembler draws to craft it, and to compare how much power it requires with all combinations of speed and efficiency to ensure there's no free electricity involved no matter how you do it.

Thank you both for the feedback!

one thing in advance that shouldn't be a complaint or anything like that. I'm just a little curious: did you do any research beforehand or is this your idea of a realistic accumulator. As far as I know the highest charge efficiency is 95% and for a nickel based one
accumulator is quite high at 80%.

Nice concept! Note/Suggestion: you could build precharged battery blocks with precharged battery components, that yield uncharged battery components when ground down. These may be changed with a special "assembler" that converts uncharged batteries for charged ones. And so you could build batteries that have energy on creation, requiring these charged battery components, while keeping the possibility to build non-charged ones. Just because sometimes you may want to bootstrap your rovers and such :P
