When battling trainers or Gyms you count up ALL your pokemon's scores and that's your bonus, so by the end of the game you should have +10 or more to all your rolls.
If you have a super effective type against one of the gyms you get another +10 to your roll. If your pokemon is weak against that gym type you don't use their bonus.
I made this during the start of the lockdowns last year, so don't have plans to update it, but maybe in the future.
THANKS SO MUCH FOR PLAYING!
maybe you could amke some more precies rulles to understand everyhing better on what we can or cant do.
also do you use your atl pokemon to battle one gym or trainer for battle or do you choose 1 of your pokemon to battle.
rolling a 30 is really annoying to get for 4 battles in a row
I like the 20 DC across all Gyms as it means if you have a super effective pokemon early it's a 9 roll for Brock, which is fairly easy, especially with a Potion. If I make all the early Gym's lower DC, the game goes a bit too fast and you don't really get to move around the board as much and make decisions about which Gym's to go to first, etc.
I have also tested having the Elite Four scale their DC, but with a good team and a few items they were too easy. I'm not STUCK on keeping it how it is, but after lots of play testing is works very well in this system. Will consider changes in the new year though! Thanks again.
this matches the games as they got harder as you play the game
I hope you all have a great week and thanks again for trying out my game.
Already thinking about possible updates for 2021, see you all then!
Yes sorry it's you get to roll the movement dice again if you don't like where you landed or want some extra movement.
I'll make it more clear in the Rules thanks!
Another suggestion: it's not explicit in the rulebook the die you roll to move, and the Repel confused us a bit, in the card says +1 Movement Roll. My interpretation is that you have a +1 in your next movement roll, but a friend says it can be that you can make a second movement roll.
I like Squirtle Squad being punishing, as it's only REALLY bad later in the game. You can also get it early and only lose 1 item so it ain't too bad. I have considered only including 1 of them in Chance time deck, so might make that change to even it out a bit. I have also considered not letting them take Rare Items, but that doesn't make sense lore wise.
Plan on adding a couple more positives to the Chance Deck, but I like it being good and bad, makes it harder when making movement choices.
I am sort of okay with Ditto to be underwhelming, because some Rare pokemon in game are underwhelming. Magmar and Electabuzz are also underwhelming compared to other Wild Rares you could draw. I might change his core mechanics though, to make him more interesting.
Thanks so much for playing and for the feedback, always makes me smile when I know people are enjoying the game. Keep it coming!
-Squirtle Squad is way too punishing for anyone who gets it, there are not enough good Chance cards to make up for it.
-Ditto is way too underwhelming to be a rare pokemon. There is no opportunity that when you use it, you get an advantage. Any other +2 fire or electric type pokemon is basically the same at most situations.
Brand new card art, new table with a nice background and more. Who knows what big changes will come in the next month.
Enjoy the RACE TO CHAMPION!
I don't have any PDF or anything, just do it all from my head, or with bulbapedia open on my other screen.

Thanks a bunch,

As for card updates, it may not be much but I can offer to do them in Photoshop if you'd provide me with the needed sizes and maybe the images you used or a base PDF to work on. I've done a few examples of my idea: https://imgur.com/a/3NPpVt6
8/9. Cards updates are a DREAM, but I've sort of just made this casually for me and my friends, will take a long time to do typing on artwork, but if it keeps being popular card art will come <3
10. That's why there is only 1 Stone Curse in the deck haha. I think 3 turns max is very fair, will adjust.
11. THE BIKE. Have made many changes to it. Originally we had it you rolled a d10 for movement and had to pick it up from the Water Gym, but no one would pick it over other Rare Items, stocking up on power for the Elite Four is the safe/meta choice. SO, we made it you get the Bike instantly to make it more appealing. d20 might be a bit much. The idea of making it just a permanent Repel is interesting, will test.
Again, thanks so much for the feedback, the more people who play the more I'll update. Great to hear people who don't know Pokemon well enjoyed it.
Your stinky creator,
Trainer Z
Thanks for the feedback OmerMe!
1. Will update Venonat, thank you.
2. Every time you land on a Wild, you roll the Wild Rarity Dice and if it's a 10 (0) you draw from the Wild Rare Deck instead. Will add to rules.
3. That is correct, the Pokemon is just the base power if both effective and not, will add to rules.
4. Agatha is meant to be the hardest, I know it's not Lore, but it's ingrained into the systems with the type advantages. You're meant to stock up on a couple items for her battle, roll like a God, or arrive with a raw +18, which is very possible. Farming Victory Road is a good strat if you're feeling weak.
5. I will make a page for Gyms & Elite Four together, good idea.
6. You can change your party of 6 at any time. HOWEVER, you can't change your party while doing an Elite Four run. ~ Variant rules is you can only change when passing or landing on a Gym.
7. Will update Setup rules to include Abandoned Pokemon.
11.The bike seem a bit overpowered and take a long time to calculate all the options you have when you get them, we came up with two things:
-When you get the voucher, you hold it until you pass through the water gym and only then you get the bike itself.
-Instead of a D20, the player with the bike rolls a D6 normally, move their piece accordingly and then have an option of rolling another D6 and keep moving instead of 'activating' the square they landed on at first.
Today I found out Steam limits messages to 1,000 chars, oops.
That's it, hopefully it's not too overwhelming, looking forward to seeing how this progresses and hope to see it expand, thank you for your work!
7. The new Daycare rule you added isn't in the in-game rule PDF, so players not looking at change notes wouldn't know to put a pokemon there.
8. You could maybe give the Pokemon cards a border with the colors of their typing, half and half for dual types, for easy visual aid.
9. Another thing I think could be added to the cards is an indication that a Pokemon can evolve, and maybe the name of its evolution. (Even people who don't remember gen 1 that well might want to play)
10. The Stone Curse sounds like extreme overkill, it basically makes it so that if you get it, you don't play the game for a long time (with more players, it takes much longer for your turn to arrive), so I suggest adding a limit on it, like "Can't play for 3 turns, if you roll a 15 or higher on a D20 on one of these turns, the curse is lifted"
Really fun game! Enjoying playing it with my friends, would probably play it a lot more and looking forward to updates!
Some of my friends don't really know Pokemon (and they chose the game) so I have a few suggestions to offer based on that and questions to ask, if you're interested:
1. Venonat's card doesn't have a name/type.
2. What does the wild rarity die do? Didn't seem to actually affect the deck in any way & isn't explained anywhere.
3. What happens if a Pokemon is both super effective and weak to a gym? we made our own rule that it only uses the base stat.
4. Why does Agatha have no weaknesses? And in general, the E4 don't follow normal type chart weaknesses (Lorelei should be weak to Steel too, Bruno should be weak to Fairy too)? I guess balancing issues, but Agatha feels a bit too hard.
5. A description of each gyms type and maybe even weaknesses like the E4 could be useful for people who didn't memorize the gyms.
6. Can you change your party between E4 matches?
Also, have added Exeggutor to the evolutions deck, not sure how he managed to escape! Please let me know any other little issues.
