The item reserve tends to not work, any item collected does not do anything to the character.

@verslycken.thomas89 Giving it custom AI is something I'm planning on doing eventually, but it's not a priority. Rivals of Aether's CPU AI is definitely not designed to play as a character like this, so it'd be a lot of work to custom-build my own that'll fight in a more intelligent way. For now I'm prioritizing making sure the character is fun for humans to play ;P Don't worry, though, it is something I'm planning on taking a shot at some day!

@mr.wiih Thank you, it makes me very happy to hear that! 😁 I've got good news, too - the next update to this character is going to be available REALLY soon. The code itself is basically ready for upload, but it's such a big update that I'm making a video presentation of the changes before I upload it, to showcase what's new and hopefully get some fresh attention on the project. I hope that this news is as exciting for you as it is for me! There'll be an update to this Steam Page and a message in-game once the update is out.

This is amazing. It's nice to see a different version of Mario that is actually freaking cool. I love how it almost doesn't feel like a rivals character, and can't wait to see where you take this in the future!

what i find interesting is that even tho this is a low tier (how good the haracter is againt the average character) because of te power up sytem & the lack of some important things like parry & stuff, its a a fun to play as character & i would say its a fun to play against character, but here is the problem, the AI is pretty bad, it barely attacks (a level 9 feels like i a level 1, maybe 2) & when it attacks its just a jump or a spin jump, nothing else & it only does any of those 2 once in a while (for a fight its a while) & it takes to long (or atleast to long for an AI) to get of the platform, so pls, no need to change the charater itself, just fix the AI pls

@Bibb Regrettably, yes 😅 I do have good news, though. I've been spending a very long time rewriting the project from the ground up. Originally I was just planning on doing a Power-Update, but the spritework still isn't ready, so I've been spending all this time on making improvements and expanding the character's abilities. Keep an eye out - hopefully you'll be seeing a public release for the rewrite, "Qua Mario", soon enough :)

the only problem i have is that they dont really fit in with the rivals formula, which makes them pretty hard to play as overall
other than that tons of fun to play as and probably one of my favorite characters in the workshop

@Baitofqualitycooking That's reasonable, yeah. I've fought Zetta a bit as Mario and it's definitely a big challenge! My advice: Go for 1ups when she's in her vulnerable state. Death isn't always avoidable when you're playing as Neo Mario, but his ability to earn extra stocks gives him a way of counteracting that. Some of her ranged attacks can be stomped as well.

My only issue is that the lack of an ability to Parry proper leaves this Mario vulnerable to a lot of enemies. In particular I can't fight against Boss Characters like Zetta at their most powerful without dying once in a fight.

Honestly this is by far one of the coolest Marios i've seen. Its so cool when you see a character be excessively faithful to the original game.

@cubakid2016 It's currently in the works, yes :) Everyone's favourite leaf is one of the power-ups that's going to be included in the next big update. Lots of other exciting content in there, too!

@Lomax the Proffesoinal Lowlife It is, yes! However I must admit that the going is a bit slow right now. I'm afraid there's not much I can do to speed things up - I need animations to keep working, and while I've found a very lovely and talented group of pixel artists who have agreed to help me, making sprites takes time.
However, it's not all bad! I'm making use of this downtime while I wait for sprites to ensure that the upcoming features will be as amazing as possible. Once all the sprites are ready all I'll have to do is load them in, and Neo Mario will be better than ever before.

Alright I freaking love this mod its like u took mario from one of there games and put em into rivals but I have a idea so since you added a fire flower and a mushroom you can add the raccoon power up or fox you know what i mean? Then if u run fast enough you can fly and then you can recover if you fall of the stage.

@Coldcolor900 Ground pound cancels are already a mechanic :) Press Up while you're falling in a ground pound to go to the regular falling state. As for separate abilities - I'd rather not, since most characters don't have differences between their alts. I can see the appeal, though!

you should make each of the characters have their own abilities like in SMB2 and SM3DW. luigi jumps higher, toad runs faster, etc.

@Holy Hmm, that's really strange. He doesn't have any code that should be capable of changing the alt - as far as I know that's not even something Rivals characters can do on their own?? But this is the second time I've heard a report of an issue like this. I'll see if I can recreate the issue, and if I can I'll investigate for a fix. For the time being I'd suggest just de-selecting Neo Mario and then selecting him again if that starts to happen 🤷‍♀️

Neo mario's color selection breaks when trying to switch color right after finishing a match.
It starts to just go thru all the skins at really high speed, without being able to stop it.

@Damianaman Hmm, very strange! Someone else reported the same problem a while back, but we were able to fix it by reinstalling the character. If you want to do me a big favour, though, you could help me out a lot by going to the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\383980\2227633571" directory on your computer, copying the "sprites" and "scripts" folder into a .zip, and sending them my way. I totally understand if you don't want to do that, but if you can it'd really help me figure out what's going wrong :)

Here's my advice, regardless of whether you want to send me the files or not:
1. Unsubscribe from Neo Mario
2. Launch Rivals and make sure he's not in the character select anymore
3. Subscribe to Neo Mario again
That's what fixed it for the last person. Let me know what happens!

@KU They're having an absolute jam! Your comment reminded me that I really needed to add a paragraph for the credits of where I got those graphics, so thanks for that. Toad's dance sprites were made by someone named MauricoN64, so if you were wondering who blessed us with the dancing Toad, it was that fella.

@poop00head Are you referring to GML's drag-and-drop coding? I don't believe that's available for Rivals workshop code, but either way, no. I wrote the code by hand with a text editor.

I think I know 2 power ups coming in the next update, based on the pixlart in the description toadette is using an ice flower based on how the sprite looks under the taunt section. and toadette is also wearing a tanokii leaf under special.

well,heres my ''best'' idea for neo mario:yoshi ride,it can eat enemies,he can stand in air for a secs,parry spin key to stop riding yoshi,he can be an object in roulette as an egg icon,yoshi will run away when he gets hit,like in mario games

@Phep I see, that doesn't sound good. I have a few things I'll need you to try to see if we can either get this working or at least figure out what exactly is going on.
1. Test in Practice Mode by selecting Neo Mario. Ensure there are no other CPUs or players present. Then enter a base-game stage like Fire Capitol or the training stage and see if Mario is invisible. If he's still gone, then the next step:
2. Unsubscribe from Neo Mario and then relaunch Rivals of Aether. Make sure he's no longer on the Character Select screen.
3. Add him back to your game, then test in Practice Mode just like in Step 1 (no buddies or other characters, pick a base-game stage).

Let me know what happens after Step 1 (is he visible in Practice Mode?) and after Step 3 (does anything change after you've removed and re-added the character?). That information will help me out a lot to figure out what's gone wrong.
