How do I limit the amount of thermal signatures on my screen? This is currently the worst part of the mod.
Volg 10 Jul, 2023 @ 8:47am
wish this would get some love. it was always the best radar, stealth, heat, what ever you want to call it type of mod.
Grumpy 5 May, 2023 @ 7:12pm
I recently just found this mod while trying to come up with a modpack for a small server I'm working on, I tried it in single player it was fine and works great! When I open my server up so friends can join they end up crashing right a few seconds after joining. I dont know if is a conflict with another mod or something. I remove the mod people can join with no issue. Any Idea on how to fix this or known mods that it may not work with? Aside from the issues im having in multiplayer it seems to work great and would love to use it on my server!

I'd love to see a setting where speed can be taken into account as well.
Comrade Butter 25 Mar, 2023 @ 5:42am
is this mod still being worked on?
Blackwater Canyon 7 Nov, 2022 @ 8:10pm
Do you have a github for tihs? Would you consider taking pull requests?
EthicalObligation 4 Oct, 2022 @ 9:57pm
My waypoints don't seem to disappear.
EdrickV 13 Mar, 2022 @ 1:37am
Would be nice if you could set it to not constantly pop up thermal signatures for your own ships, since that tends to make it harder to see those from other ships. That said, this is probably more useful in multiplayer then single player where most NPC ships seem to have a broadcasting antenna.
Bi0HazardXIII 19 Feb, 2022 @ 6:42pm
Are you planning to incorporate the new vent blocks by chance? So that they can either visually display the heat being vented? Or possibly use them to help dissipate heat (lower signal range/duration)

@Bio, @spoons, I'll create a repo and open it up for submissions.
Its a good framework that can certainly use some updates
Spoons 8 Feb, 2022 @ 9:51pm
Is there a repo to contribute to for updating?
Bi0HazardXIII 5 Feb, 2022 @ 4:46pm
Are there any plans to have this mod updated?
Asy93 7 Oct, 2021 @ 12:11pm
Can I make some modifications to this and re-upload it, with credit
Bodyboarder2528 3 Aug, 2021 @ 5:40am
when will water support happen?
Truffel 2 Aug, 2021 @ 7:57am
Does it work with Reavers?
cKerensky  [author] 17 Jun, 2021 @ 9:24am
@Jessy, you need to be inside a cockpit/seat to read the signatures
Jessy Berbers 14 Mar, 2021 @ 12:00pm
I am having a problem with this mod, it seems to do pretty much nothing. could this be a load order issue or something?
Chad 8 Mar, 2021 @ 11:39am
i love this concept. it makes so much sense. the thermal signatures in my game seem to persist until i exit and reload. so, after a couple hours of gameplay, my hud is littered with thermal signatures of ships long gone. this isn't intended behavior, is it?
Doc Nacht 10 Jan, 2021 @ 1:10am
Quick question, how do the thermal signatures get shown, as block signals or GPS? I want to run this with the Reavers mod, because they can find antenna/beacon transmissions, but I don't know if they'll be able to "see" my ships/bases.
cKerensky  [author] 6 Jan, 2021 @ 12:33pm
Leia, your own thermal. Signature will show up to you. If it's red, it's hot. You dissipate around 10% every few seconds or so. I'll have to double check.
@Hellbound Hydrogen Thrusters generate a colossal amount of heat, hydrogen generators for power generate half the heat per unit of energy as the reactor does.
Hellbound Johny 4 Jan, 2021 @ 8:36am
There is talk about hydrogen engines, then talk about hydrogen engines based on their thrust. Can you clarify hydrogen thruster vs hydrogen engine please?
Leia_furbix 1 Jan, 2021 @ 10:38am
What are the calculations for heat dissipation?
Leia_furbix 1 Jan, 2021 @ 9:15am
can you see what your current heat is? I'm thinking of a stealth craft and want to see when it's running dark
Church.exe 30 Dec, 2020 @ 10:47am
Seems like a good mod so far although as a suggestion, since so many other mods use the term "heat", it may be easier to understand if you refer to the thermal signatures as EM signatures.
Kontu 29 Dec, 2020 @ 11:55am
Pioneer11 -- you could just use the block based Thermal Beacon for that
Pioneer11 24 Nov, 2020 @ 4:19pm
Could you please add a block which will produce a thermal signature. My server is using this for ship tracking in PVP and it would be really useful to be able to produce a false signal for decoys
cKerensky  [author] 15 Sep, 2020 @ 11:56am
@andargor
No. But the signatures are created as waypoints, so you can save them manually.
Also, the signatures are from a point in time, so it's only really good for having a rough idea as to where it is at that point in time. When you see it, it's already probably moved somewhere else (though still nearby)
If there's a desire for adding scripting support, it could be something I look into.
andargor 15 Sep, 2020 @ 10:13am
Is there script access, for example coordinates of signatures?
ThePropheticWarrior 14 Sep, 2020 @ 6:49pm
This mod already has some of this, but posting it to give Modders more ideas: I would love to use multiple (perhaps 4 or 5) sensors on a rotating rotor and/or rotating dish, like in real world! It would also be awesome to have the option of selecting one directional sector at a time (different radar consoles looking at different sectors, like Fighters use) - and main for (all sectors) general viewing, as well as passive/active modes - like in the real world! It would also be nice to implement this in planet/wall maps! I'm going to also suggest this in the other radar mods - perhaps some cooperation can be done between the Modders - and the Community!
cKerensky  [author] 13 Sep, 2020 @ 9:49am
Just tweak the large and small grid modifiers down by whatever amount you'd like, halving it would probably do the trick.
Rob11 12 Sep, 2020 @ 10:44pm
Thanks for the explanation.

Woud love it if you chuck in a quick-and-dirty overall signal distance multiplier. We run with a pretty small world size on server and would be great to tinker with it to get it balanced to 30 players all operating in a 200-300km radius.
cKerensky  [author] 12 Sep, 2020 @ 10:37am
So those are the default values that, at a power output I observed provided a good value.
Large and Small grid base range is the default level all calculations are based on, so increasing those values will increase the range of thermal output. Lowering will make them harder to detect.
Weather multiplier doesn't do anything yet.
Atmospheric Density lets you adjust how much you want atmospheric density to have an effect on the thermal output. Higher numbers means they will increase the value, smaller values reduce the effect.
Gravity multiplier is non-functional, but would be the same as weather. More gravity can either give more or less heat

These are all global modifiers, each block type also has its own settings you can adjust, for example, Reactors have:
AirMultiplier = 0.5f,

So any output they produce is modified roughly like so:
Default Value * ((Air Multiplier * AirDensityAtPosition)*GlobalAirMultiplier)
This is simplified, but I hope it explains it.
Rob11 12 Sep, 2020 @ 12:29am
Hey @cKerensky can you provide a brief explanation on how the cfg settings function? Cheers

<LargeGridBaseRange>2500</LargeGridBaseRange>
<SmallGridBaseRange>1500</SmallGridBaseRange>
<WeatherMultiplier>1</WeatherMultiplier>
<AtmosphericDensity>1</AtmosphericDensity>
<GravityMultiplier>1</GravityMultiplier>

We may add this soon, we are building player base, right now we are close to 30 players, and rising.
Bring all your friends! and battle with russians/french/english/germans and more.

Look for Prometheus Vanilla PVP.

Respect to DEV for this awesome mod, this should be online at any PVP server to light the sky with enemies to shoot! :)
cKerensky  [author] 6 Sep, 2020 @ 1:22pm
Enera: about reaper detection, not directly, no. You could detect their thermal output though
JohnM81 5 Sep, 2020 @ 10:43am
I'm not sure if its allowed here or not, but I was going to ask anyways. If anyone reading this runs their own server and has this mod (beta) on it let me know I'll be interested in bringing myself and my friends to play on your server. Thanks.
RogueCmdr 31 Aug, 2020 @ 1:47pm
Just want to let you know I just added this to my Extreme Survival Collection and will have it on stream tomorrow at 9am PST https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2199444240

I also plan on adding this to my list of mod reviews I making for my Youtube channel.
cKerensky  [author] 31 Aug, 2020 @ 9:28am
It's based upon actual output, not maximum output. If you turn off your reactors and run silent on batteries, your signal will drop.

Keep in mind, though, that there *is* thermal decay, so just shutting everything off wont make you suddenly disappear, there's a small cool-off period.
enenra 31 Aug, 2020 @ 5:17am
Question: Does the current output determine the strength of the signal or the max possible one? e.g. could you "run silent" by turning off your reactors? Also, is this the kind of signal that Lucas' Reavers would detect?
cKerensky  [author] 30 Aug, 2020 @ 4:36pm
The colour of the signal change with strength as is. What did you have in mind?
personzz 28 Aug, 2020 @ 5:02pm
perhaps you could add a measure of the signature strength on the signal?
cKerensky  [author] 28 Aug, 2020 @ 5:53am
Both atmospheric support and custon settings are in.
Numerous bug fixes as well
Dorimanx 26 Aug, 2020 @ 4:38pm
hmm, very interesting mod, for PVP, will be very needed indeed with configs.
cKerensky  [author] 26 Aug, 2020 @ 4:01pm
Dorimanx: When the option becomes available to customize values, you'll be able to change them to your hearts content.
Your ship only generates heat based upon power being used, not it's theoretical maximum. So if you're always pushing 1 TW...well, that's a lot of heat! But if you cruise along with things shut down, less heat, less detection range!
Dorimanx 26 Aug, 2020 @ 2:53pm
anything not for vanila :) ??? 1 reactor and boom 30KM... thats harsh..
Thanks
Dorimanx 26 Aug, 2020 @ 2:53pm
really nice my 1TW ship will light the universe a hahahah
Jeffu 26 Aug, 2020 @ 7:48am
nice
cKerensky  [author] 26 Aug, 2020 @ 6:05am
That is the plan. Everything that has a hard-coded value will be adjustible in a config.
Rob11 25 Aug, 2020 @ 9:52pm
Really happy to see this new version in development. Will the "customized values" be adjustable in a config?
