Sorry, but that's how it goes. My advice is to find another modder who's still active and respectfully ask them to take a look. I was briefly in a discord for VT modding, so you might find someone there who's open to requests.

@Marionettes @Zigobardu13:) Thanks for the feedback. I don't play this game anymore, so I'm not going to fix it. I'm marking this mod as deprecated. The source code is still available on GitHub; anyone who wants to try and fix this mod has my free permission to use what I've already written.

@Jossiwales oh i see now, it's caused by the 'Show damage from all sources' setting. the bonfire created by the coruscation staff is technically its own game entity (similarly to the blightstormer's vortex) so the 'show damage from all sources' setting thinks it's an ally, not you, doing the damage. I'll see if I can fix it.

@Orange Chris no I mean it doesn't show anything for me. It sometimes shows the damage from the initial cast but when something walks through the flame pillar, no damage numbers show.

@Jossiwales if you mean because it floods the screen with numbers, that's unfortunately unavoidable. I might look into batching the numbers but it's not likely.

Fixed a bug introduced a while ago when Fatshark fixed the damage numbers on dummies.

Vermintide 2 updated to 3.0 today, adding the Grail Knight career.

As far as I can tell, this mod is working fine, but let me know if you find any bugs.

For Vermintide 2 version 2.4

New feature: Only your attacks will trigger damage numbers. There is now an option in the mod menu (press F4 in-game) to enable damage numbers on everyone's attacks.

Works better than Show Damage, which currently crashes the game. Only issue is getting numbers for other players/bots, but that's fine.
Regarding the "cheating" aspect, if you could somehow make the number only be visible with line of sight(if that's even possible), maybe that'll get fatshark on board witht his mod.

@Orange Chris if fatshark suddenly one day said that they would start sanctioning mods or let the community vote for a (few) mods every month to be sanctioned, wouldnt setting the time dot dmg numbers are shown to 5 seconds? that would make it last less or the same as tagging an enemy and it should no longer be seen as an "advantage" to use this mod.

strange how fatshark allows people to durn down their light setting so they can see in the dark in hunger in the dark, and players can see where blightstormers and leeches teleport if they are tagged, but god forbid if dmg numbers or healtbar makes an assassin visible through a wall when it can be tagged for 5 or 10 seconds.

(1/2) It has minor "cheating" implications because you can mark, say, a leech with a burning attack, and the damage numbers from the damage-over-time will make it easier to find it if it teleports away. I know "Show Damage" also had this problem, and I'm not sure it was ever addressed before the mod broke.

It is debatable where the line of "advantageous" should be drawn; No Wobble and Neuter Ult Effects, which are both amazing and should be in the base game, make the game easier by removing some unnecessary camera effects. But I think the teleportation issue is a pretty reasonable barrier for sanctioning. I would also understand if Fatshark thought damage numbers would be too immersion-breaking. I'd disagree, but ultimately I'd respect their design intentions.

(2/2) But this is all a moot point in the end. The real reason this won't get sanctioned is Fatshark doesn't sanction mods anymore. I'm not going to bother trying to tailor-fit it to their vague criteria because there's zero indication they'll ever sanction any more mods.

If I correctly guess the functionality of the mod, it is very similar to Show Damage, which was never approved by the developers. Allegedly, it is cheating (and the autoblock is not cheating during a pause, cool). Regrettably.

@Palma Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try to add some later. Like Bolshe said, the damage numbers are identical to the ones on the training dummies, except they are not missing the decimal point.

@Blyetti This mod is not sanctioned, and probably never will be.
