hey @authors, great mod, here's a little suggestion: I noticed that tapirs are currently being considered as pen animals, but they can be trained to do some nice stuff, like hauling. Problem is they can't haul anything if they need to be locked inside a pen :<
was this intended? it may be true for other animals as well.

Pro tip for gorillas: they're great for prisoners. Imagine picking the lock on your cell and as it opens, 5 gorillas stand on the other side and flood into the room. Only 3 prisoners have been beaten to death so far. 1 literally got his heart punched out the other side of his body.

What Caisy said. I understand that these were made before 1.3, so before pens, but still, having hauling animals being tied to pens nowadays is just weird.

Can you make animals that are advanced trainability non-roamers? I have four tapirs fully trained and they roam, so they're useless. I'd rather them be able to haul things like they're supposed to.

Nearly every single animal on my map is a gorilla. there are 27 gorillas. maybe make the added animals a bit rarer than vanilla animals?

Great mod, just a small issue to report; it's impossible to sell tigers to anybody as mentionned by @artifex. Any ways to fix that?

Tapirs still have "advanced" trainability, and the 1.2 filth and wildness stats. Is this intended?

Great mod. One minor issue: it looks like the jaguars and tigers don't have any <tradeTags> set, so we can't currently sell them to exotic animal dealers or settlements. Luckily, that should be a pretty easy fix in Races_Expanded_TropicalRainforest.xml.

Well, you can probably even ignore the error, to be honest. It is just failing to patch that one, but I'm sure ONE more meat type won't be serious ;)

This is the only mod I'm using for that. Tbh, the only reason I'm even using it is for performance. Not sure how much it will actually help at the end of the day, just heard that having many creature mods slows down the game.

You have two mods that are patching useMeatFrom in VAE- Endangered's Bonobo. Endangered already patches the Bonobo to have the same meat as this mod's Gorilla.

No idea which other mod is trying to patch the Bonobo's meat. Look for mods that try to optimize meat types or similar

We are not interested in pursuing existing IPs as Vanilla Expanded - we only create our original content, not rely on existing brands. As such, Warhammer 40k or Magic The Gathering will never happen as vanilla expanded.

Or do like you did with the wolverine and make animals genetically upgrated im 100% sure people would love to see giant floopa (caracal) thats is the size of the car or make your own twist on mods such as megafauna like Vanilla Animals Expanded mesozoic , cenozoic or paleozoic era ?

No, I am happy with it just being a reskin. None of the animals in vanilla have any special mechanics. They are just animals. Background. Not important.

@Oskar Potocki I think Jaguar needs an ability because its feels like he is just an recolor of cougar and panther , i think jaguar needs an ability that ignores armor and deals damage even if you or enemy has high Sharp or Blunt resistance

It's on Animal Gear's side, they need to add compat. For the game each animal is separate, no matter if they look the same.

Hi, firstly, you do excellent work and I love the Vanilla series.

Secondly, I'm not sure if this would lie on your side or the animal gear side, but it seems tigers and jaguars can't wear animal armour that a panther can. I know tigers are bigger but jaguars seem the same size, so perhaps would be a simple change to make (if it has to do with the animal definitions/tags and not something on the animal gear side that would need to allow for modded animals).

Thanks for all your efforts on mods to make Rimworld more varied and wonderful.

Addendum: That's with multiple mods, but also tested when it's the only active mod, (and it still happens).
I saw it was also mentioned/addressed earlier in the comment section, but perhaps these pointers may point in a useable direction. (Or perhaps to a location where a comment of "<!-- not intended for sale -->" can be found, if it's not a bug, but a feature)

Heya, found a small (possible) bug!

"Defs/ThingDefs_Races/Races_Expanded_TropicalRainforest.xml", "AEXP_Tiger" does not have any tradeTags. Some animals/defs get them simply from inheritance, but "AEXP_Tiger" seems to firmly not have a single tradeTag, as it is a child of "AnimalThingBase" which also has none.
Perhaps ParentName="BigCatKindBase" might make sense, though that may, or may not, have other unintended side-effects, I do not know.

But hereby a short simple report of a possible bug, that has effect of trading, and possibly on mods that use tradeTags to handle certain animals and/or their (inter)actions.

will these animals come as an event to my area? I made a new game before I subscribed. So all the vanilla animals are there upset these ones. All Im saying is will they come as an event and can we buy them from npcs?
