no problem jrandall, fixed it by myself with adding a 2nd generator, I love your work and use your 3 compilations. :)
jrandall  [author] 24 Jun, 2021 @ 10:34am
Thanks BatteryAcids and Kozrek. @Kozrek, is it pretty old and the game rules changed since it was made. I haven't been back to see how it is working at this time. But I don't doubt it would not have enough power. Thanks again!
Kozrek 18 Jun, 2021 @ 1:32pm
This Hoober is buggy, if you use the drills, the generator got damaged. :(
BatteryAcids 21 May, 2020 @ 5:34pm
No problem, just trying to minimize duplicate purpose ships from fleet list. :)
jrandall  [author] 21 May, 2020 @ 4:28pm
Thanks BatteryAcids! This one was larger and had a lot more stuff on it. However as a miner, the size makes it more difficult to mine and more prone to getting stuck in tunnels. Also, compared to the MCRN-Mole-T1, has a lot less harvest storage. Actually looking at this one, it is out of date as well with the current CPU/flight model. So I bet it doesn't do to well. :( Thanks again!
BatteryAcids 21 May, 2020 @ 11:24am
Would this make the SHM2 moot and would it be a direct replacement if so? Or is the HRC built for a completely different purposes?
jrandall  [author] 8 May, 2020 @ 1:31pm
Thanks Itharus, Onslaught420, Sir Laffsalot, Zoomies82, Calliphora, Tanknav, and jokerace45. Sorry about my very slow response on many comments here. I just noticed a new one then seen all the others. I would have to see what this needs and where it would fit in CPU at. But to make it work now, most likely it would need to either a Tier 2 CPU block or 2 tier 3 CPU blocks added somewhere, whatever much CPU it needs to be 100%. Then it should work properly again. This was built in A9 with a much different CPU and flight/movement model. Also, more than likely most to all of the RCS can be removed lowering the CPU a fair amount. Thanks again all!
jokerace45 6 May, 2020 @ 7:24pm
Ok, right now this thing doesn't work with the latest game build. It will lift into the air but doesn't move any ware. Is this due to the CPU limits being all wacky ? How could I begin to go about fixing this ? I am very new to the game and do not understand much of this.
Tanknav 2 Mar, 2020 @ 1:23pm
@jrandall, Any thought to adapting the Scarab-HRC for inclusion in the MCRN series? This has been my "go to" HV starter and it's more versatile than the MCRN-Mole-T1, which is smaller and fills a comparable role but lacks defenses, survival equipment and internal expansion. In any case, thanks for the great work in all of your offerings...I use them extensively!
Calliphora 6 Feb, 2020 @ 7:20am
Pls make an SV that can carry the HRC
Zoomies 20 Jul, 2019 @ 10:04pm
I cant find the generator or Fuel tanks. Anyone able to help. Doesn'y seem to be at the back of the Scarab.
Sir Laffsalot 12 May, 2019 @ 1:12pm
Something has changed. In game it says level 12, not 10
Onslaught420 25 Mar, 2019 @ 10:03am
this is very usefull good design this thing has help alot with mining and wood farming love this collection of stuff
Itharus 25 Feb, 2019 @ 1:36pm
Thanks man! I was just curious cuz I hoped to build one very early, but haven't run into any sathium in POIs yet in this game :)
jrandall  [author] 25 Feb, 2019 @ 1:25pm
@Itharus, oh, I was wrong. It is the steel grates in a few places. It appears each one uses 5 sathium and it has 6 of them. Hmm. I didn't know that and that kind of sucks. It has 2 per side in front of the hover engines and 2 more on the visible front area. Well, I hope that helps. Thanks again.
jrandall  [author] 25 Feb, 2019 @ 1:14pm
@Itharus, I would have to double check, but I believe the drills themselves need it. Possibly the medbay and clone gen as well. I will take a look shortly thou to confirm. Thanks.
Itharus 25 Feb, 2019 @ 1:09pm
Question: what's in the design that's requiring sathium?
jrandall  [author] 25 Feb, 2019 @ 1:01pm
Thanks D-Money! I believe it should just fine. I haven't equipped any miner I made myself with T2 drills simply because it ups the level requirements a lot, but when using myself will go to T2 drills as soon as I can build them. Thanks again!
D-Money 25 Feb, 2019 @ 11:21am
Hey jrandall your designs have inspired me to keep on playing Empyrion. Quick question do you thing the Scarab-HRC will handle T2 Drills?
jrandall  [author] 5 Feb, 2019 @ 5:22am
Thanks Ryuukon and Itharus :)
Itharus 4 Feb, 2019 @ 10:58pm
Just what I needed to kick my early game into motion... coincidentally, I just noticed who made it! Geez, man. Every time I go looking for a useful early game thing design to get started with I seem to be winding up on one of your designs! Thanks again, jrandall. At this point I think I might as well just subscribe to your whole military survival series, lol.
Kitsurei 1 Feb, 2019 @ 4:24pm
You can change the cockpit pretty easily in survival too. Using a multi-tool right click and select "Retrieve Block", then retrieve the 2 harvesters and then the cockpit. Put the cockpit onto your hotbar, right click, and select the style you want and place it back on the HV, then put the 2 harvesters back on the same way. You may need to paint them again but it's not hard using the color tool you build from a constructor.
jrandall  [author] 1 Feb, 2019 @ 2:01pm
Thank you rootzij! I really do wish this game had just a clear windows with no borders. The windows all do have those borders and now there is a new set of windows for CV's and bases that also have borders but also look decent. As in older CV's and some HV's and SV's with in closed cockpits, the obstructions are unavoidable. I like an open view as well and why I tend to use a lot of prefab cockpits on SV's and HV's. The problem is, they are weaker typically vs the block windows. I tend to play in 1st person and never really liked 3rd person views. On some of the higher end creations I also added a secure 3rd person cockpit trying to allow for the best of both worlds. And as Starkiller said, you can modify these too. Thanks again!
StarKiller 1 Feb, 2019 @ 12:54pm
rootzij,

I'm sure jrandall will respond but you can use any of the BPs as a base to build from and can even change out anything you want. As I understand it the way to change it on the BP itself, although someone will correct me if I am wrong, is to make the changes in creative mode and then save the BP as whatever name you want, and then in survival that new BP will show up on your list.
rootzij 1 Feb, 2019 @ 11:47am
jay, I am new to this game and in fact gaming. You have the best designs. It amazed me the effort that went into these designs. I am an engineer by trade and I am really impressed. I really like your Nomad XT. I am using that as my go-to along with the Scarib. got a question: is it possible to replace the windows in some of the designs to where you see only through glass and not have those brases in teh way. I would apreaciate an un obstructed view.. Thanks again. this is the most fun i have had in YEARS!!!!
jrandall  [author] 1 Feb, 2019 @ 7:55am
Thanks StarKiller!
StarKiller 31 Jan, 2019 @ 7:23pm
My only issue with your designs is they are all so great I want to build and use them all.
StarKiller 31 Jan, 2019 @ 7:22pm
Looks awesome, can't wait to check it out in game
jrandall  [author] 31 Jan, 2019 @ 7:16am
Thanks SullyEnza! :) I bet I forgot something on the post. Very sorry about that. Let me get it added! @Kontaro, Thanks for checking it out. It is a bit wide. I did not want it to be long, but with the new storage system I needed space to add a lot, so while making it I decided to make it a couple blocks wider than it was originally to have the space needed for all the storage and survival stuff on back. On top of that, I was trying to use as few thrusters as possible do to the CPU and wanting to have as much storage space as I could. I did roll it back some removing 2000 storage and replacing with more thrusters and RCS. But maybe in the end I wanted this to do to much with the CPU limitations. Thanks again all!
Kontaro 31 Jan, 2019 @ 2:53am
That said, it does work fairly well, but due to how wide it is, it has trouble turning around to mine to the sides when mining, occasionally getting stuck, and needing to press O to straighten it out. it also seemed that it could load out that harvest box right quick, maybe taking a single med-large vein before it ran outta volume to hold(i might be wrong here, as i don't have volume on)

In the end I see it as an explorer, able to check out an abandoned base, or grab that rare promethium deposit... while the CV/base sits back and waits for your return, while other miners don't dare get too far away
Kontaro 31 Jan, 2019 @ 2:53am
so, i gave this one a whirl, then the updated version with the new rcs and engines, and I gotta say it works real well! It definately needed those extra engines, as it wouldn't back up at all once it got some ore in it...that said, it is still VERY unwieldy for a miner, due to how wide it is, and having so few engines for it's size, unfortunately, i gotta rate this as trying to do a little bit of everything...

SullyEnza 30 Jan, 2019 @ 9:40pm
pffft. no love.. DAMN YOU JRANDALL
p3st|cIdE 28 Jan, 2019 @ 3:22pm
Ah, I see. :) None of my ships have hit the CPU constraints yet to my knowledge. Trade-offs galore! :steamhappy:
jrandall  [author] 28 Jan, 2019 @ 2:44pm
Thank you Marbod, morbius22003, p3st|cIdE, and bluedeamonss! @p3st|cIdE, you are right about the 1x2x1 thrusters. They need 150 CPU each. The small 1x1x1's still use 100 CPU and make far less thrust than the 1x3x1's which also use 100 CPU. This build was a battle against CPU, so the biggest thrusters available I find the best way to go or I would have to add many more thrusters and cut the storage a lot. HV's just don't have many options at this time for thrust. @bluedeamonss, I then TAB menu, look for the blueprints. Basically you pick which one you want, send it to the factory, then add the resources needed to build it and start buildind. Once done, you can spawn it. This one takes under and hour in standard game rules to build. But, you must have the resources and be high enough player level for it. I hope that helps. Thanks again all!
Cobalt1976 28 Jan, 2019 @ 1:18pm
How do i get the blue prints? only 4 hrs in game
p3st|cIdE 28 Jan, 2019 @ 12:42pm
by my calculations, the Thruster Jet (1x3x1) HV is terribly inefficient, only thing worse is the Thruster M (1x2x1) HV. Stick with Thruster S for HVs for now if you care about thrust/mass ratios.
morbius22003 28 Jan, 2019 @ 11:10am
Whoa!! A New Scarab!!! My Favorite HV!! Thanks, i'll try it out at once!!
Marbod 28 Jan, 2019 @ 9:54am
Wow, nice future, industriel design. I will try it.

Thanks for sharing.

Mfg Marbod
jrandall  [author] 28 Jan, 2019 @ 8:05am
@Ryuukon, (and others), I have updated this HV now addressing the issues of lacking power when mining. I have added 4 additional thrusters (1 per side, 2 front) and 4 additional RCS. This cut the main storage to 7000 vs 9000, but seems to do a much better job mining now. Thanks for the feedback :)
jrandall  [author] 28 Jan, 2019 @ 5:25am
Thank you CrazyZ and Ryuukon!. @Ryuukon, I was debating doing the same thing. Thanks again!
Kitsurei 27 Jan, 2019 @ 8:20pm
I went ahead and removed a few container extensions so as to fit 2 more RCS and 4 more jet thrusters up front and it performs MUCH better. Granted I sacrified 1625 storage (down to 7375 instead of 9000) but it makes it much easier to mine with.

Still has a problem, she uh... kind of has a big butt. So you have to make the hole bigger when you start mining if you want to get out easily.

So many inuendos there... I didn't mean it, I promise!
CrazyZ 27 Jan, 2019 @ 1:42pm
What a cute miner! But knowing your military background, I assume this little fellow bites when you want to pet it, lol. Amazing work!
jrandall  [author] 27 Jan, 2019 @ 9:09am
Thank you XCaliber, D00mnoodle, and Seelenstein :)
Chayenne 27 Jan, 2019 @ 7:46am
@jrandall, Sie haben wunderschöne CV,SV,HV.,BA. !!!
BITTE machen Sie weiter so und vielen DANK für die schöne Zeit mit Ihren Mods.:-)
D00mnoodle 27 Jan, 2019 @ 7:10am
Nice one!
XCaliber 27 Jan, 2019 @ 6:10am
Nice J! Lets give this some burrow testing ;)
jrandall  [author] 27 Jan, 2019 @ 5:55am
Thank you DiscordiaXXIII, Dakota Darkfire, Ryuukon, and kazkid42! @Ryuukon, I do agree about the CPU. If it was not for the CPU I would have jumped up the thrust and RCS more on this HV + other ships etc. This one was quite a balancing act with CPU. I have a another new SV I am working on that is also suffering from how I think it should be vs making it CPU compliant. I guess my fear is if the current CPU limits stay and become the game standard, I would hate to release new items that can't work any longer. But I don't know if it is staying or going so I been trying to play it safe for now vs how I think it should be for best performance etc. It kind of makes it rough at this time. The next SV I purposely removed RCS, fuel tanks, and extra thrusters just to keep it comply with CPU, but it is making the ship worse than it was designed to be. I will think on that. Thanks again all!
kazkid42 27 Jan, 2019 @ 4:27am
AHAH....Perfect for the Orthrus! Love all your designs and this one makes the Orthrus perfect for what I hope to do in Multipleyer. Thanks!
Kitsurei 27 Jan, 2019 @ 3:25am
I really enjoy the design of this miner, and the fact that it's got docking pads on top for docking with your other design, the Orthus, is a serious bonus.

However, this miner needs more horsepower in the thrusters to really be effective. It's very VERY hard to get out of a hole even forwards, and all but impossible to do it backwards. Basically you're stuck drilling at no more than around a 45 degree angle if you want to get out without too much hassle since it's so large and has so few thrusters.

Still giving it a thumbs up though because of the stellar design. :)
Eisenwulf 26 Jan, 2019 @ 8:13pm
I respectfully request that you keep a catalog of the older A8 designs... somewhere. I could care less about A9's CPU, mass and volume limits (and I'm not alone in this opinion). This game (IMO) is turning into a shadow version of Space Engineers... which is NOT why I'm playing EGS.
