for the Oni Saki land tile, do i need a plantation or something for it? it gives no options for tile improvements like plantation or even farm

This mod is definitely way overpowered. The giant food bonuses and easy golden ages alone could place this into being far above everything else by playing passively off of specialist slots, but everything else regarding military makes it so that a player using this is nearly unbeatable. The only part of this near being balanced is the great general, which is actually pretty interesting with its perk, but even that is sent beyond jokingly overpowered with its synergy with the already overpowered granary allowing a single tile to feed a decently sized city.

I like the ideas behind it though.

Suika is so ridiculously expansionistic. I've had her as an AI in two games. In one, she took over an entire continent before I even got astrology so I could meet her, and in the other, she waged an ineffectual naval war against me from the medieval era to the end of the game. (I wasn't even close to her, but for some reason she was never willing to end it.) It might make sense to tone that setting down a bit.

Oh, they're perfectly usable without Events and Decisions -- I've just been having a fun using them to incorporate little bits of mythology like the sake bug and the Night Parade of 100 Oni. But the mod works fine without needing the additional mods I'm adding compatibility for.

I just hope that Sukritact's Events and Decisions compatability doesn't break this mod at all since I dont' want to have to use another mod to use this mod. Also I really do NOT like that other mod at all so forcing it onto this would not be a good idea

@MS-06S: I'm actually in the process of revising the mod right now, including cleaning up some of the visual issues with icons, modifying the uniques a bit to enhance Suika's playstyle, and adding in some compatibility with other mods (particularly Sukritact's Events and Decisions).

Don't know if this matter or not, but I have been playing this with G&K as Suika with no problems...

I didn't even know there were 2 versions.

Sorry for the stupid question, but does this require the BNW expansion? I've had a look around for the Oni Clan in the empire selection and it's not showing up...

Since I had Suika refer to herself as a Fairy... I looked script for the diplomacy it looks like some of it might be taken from the Fairy Civ.

Ahhh, dangit... that is one of the problems with updating a mod for a new expansion. I wrestled with whether or not to release the BNW version seperately or simply update this version, but most people I saw seemed to just release BNW-compatible versions as updates, so I did the same. However, I'll go through the code and see if I can backdate it to G&K, and release a G&K version for those who don't have BNW.

The Brewery doesn't show up if you have G&K but not BNW, something you seemed to have seen coming. (At least it isn't for me) I don't really have the cash on hand for BNW now, which is a shame...this was my favorite mod... :(

First of all; for anybody who is thinking of getting this mod, get it. Trust me, it works great and I love it. Seriously. I have only one con, but it doesn't affect much. Get this mod.

Anyway, for the one and only con - music. While I have not had a chance to play as suika, when I was playing against her and I went to her leader screen, there was no background music. Unsure if it's just me or what, but yeah. As I said, a small thing, doesn't affect much, but I personally love influential background music. Still though; get this mod. Many congratulations to Mischa.

Once again, my apologies for not being more prompt with updating this mod. I haven't had much chance to mess around with modding over the past few months, but finally got some time to work on it again. The previous mod wasn't fully BNW compatible (the Brewery didn't have the Granary's trade route function, and Suika was missing certain leader flavors BNW needs) so I've updated it accordingly, although this means it likely won't work with G&K now. I've also revised the Kishin to eliminate the problematic healing ability.

I've been having my own problems with getting mods to download, so I'll see if I can get a copy of the mod posted to the civfanatics mod forums soon, and provide a link to those interested.

as of it not being there in the mods (aka like as if it never downloaded) we need an alternative download, wich bouncymischa has not set up as far as i know

kn i found where people are going wrong with this, ok set up the mod as per always, then when you ticked the mod then it configuring the data , then right after that it shows the mods in use , DONT CLICK BACK OR NEXT or what ever it says, but click single player then set up game, problem solved
its not the mod gliching, its civ v just not very clear on telling you how to use the mods propaly

My apologies for not replying to anyone sooner... Been sidetracked with various things, including vacation.

I believe the mod is probably incompatible with BNW at the moment, because food trading requires the Granary, so there's likely new code in the Granary that the Brewery doesn't have. It likely still works, but doesn't enable food trading.

The mod shouldn't require G&K, but since the way unit art defines were done changed a bit between vanilla and G&K, it may be incompatible with vanilla...

PlotVitalNPC - "alcohol from deer" was included partly to keep it consistent with the standard Granary, and partly at the suggestion from Huitzil, who pointed out the urban legend that Jagermeister beer contained fermented deer or elk blood. If anyone could ferment deer into alcohol, I suppose it would be the oni. :P I think I'll add Sugar to the list of luxuries the Brewery benefits from, though... not sure how I missed it before. I suppose I was just thinking of fermented fruits...

I really think that it would make more sense for sugar to be affected by the Brewery than deers. You can make rum from sugar, but how do you make a deer alcoholic?

I had a problem loading it, before I bought the upgrade to gold edition. and ever since then it has been there. Otherwise I enjoyed playing it.

As the friend in question, I simply "Subscribed" to the Mod, and re-loaded the Mod section of Civ5.

I've talked bouncymischa into lowering the +Food of the Brewery to a more reasonable level, and we're working on the Kishin's ability to function a bit tighter.

For those who aren't having it show up... I asked a friend to download it and he was able to get ahold of it just fine, so I'm not entirely sure what the problem could be. I know sometimes Steam gets rather finicky about downloading mods... Hmm.

As for Brave New World, I'll have to see what sorts of changes it makes in the code. It may still function under BNW without changes, and I don't think any of the new mechanics in BNW will affect the Oni much...
