Download the mod again and find it inside Steam/Steamapps/workshop/content/22280, since you just subsriced to it again it should be the newest one if u sort by date
It will be a .vpk file, open it with GCFScape, click right on "root" folder and extract it somewhere you'd like it
once extracted, go to root/scripts/theaters and find default_weapon.theater
open it with Notepad++
Ctrl+F and type in the gun you want to find (for example " M9 ")
under M9 are multiple command lines, find "viewmodel_offsets"
now there are the multiple axises, each number representing one
X Y Z, in that order
so if you want to move the pistols a bit right, and higher, change Y to 2.5, and Z to 1
now the boring part:
save the edits
exit the folder until you are at the folder "root" again
now you need to open a new window and go to Steam/Steamapps/Common/Insurgency2/bin
there is a file called "vpk.exe"
Click and drag the "root" folder on "vpk.exe", what this does is compile the root folder into a .vpk that you will be able to use in the game
now next to the "root" folder, you will have a file "root.vpk", I'd recommend renaming it to something like "fov_test1.vpk"
now you need to put this vpk file into Steam/Steamapps/Common/Insurgency2/Insurgency/Custom
(Not into the Workshop folder, only into Custom)
Now unsubscribe from my mod on Steam, and if you start the game your new viewmodel mod will be loaded.
Start singleplayer, chose the gun you edited and see if it works for you. If it's good, that's it.
If not, you need to edit the XYZ axises again, and compile it into a new .vpk again, and repeat testing it.
Now you can freely use it anywhere (where custom workshop is enabled on servers), but it's only for you. You are able to upload it to workshop through in-game Insurgency if you want to.
Hope I helped, feel free to contact me if you have questions
For example, i want my viewmodel normal on pistols and move viewmodel a bit righter.
Can you make a tutorial to edit the mod?
I'm glad you enjoyed it! I've also found myself in a lot of situation where I died cause hipfiring is basically unusable (for me at least) with the vanilla viewmodel and there wasn't enough time to aim down sights. I felt like we have this cool mechanic of the guns point of aim moving around that we couldn't use. I've been running this mod since I made it.
100% disagree, but this isn't a forum. Had to comment tho.
Hipfiring is an acquired skill, especially in a game like this with an aiming deadzone (Free-aim, if you will). This mod arguably makes that a hell of a lot easier, so long as you don't have a massive optic on the top of your weapon. I obliterate people just by hipfiring through a doorway. It's like sweeping a broom. Maybe it's different for everyone, but I honestly find myself hipfiring more than aiming down my sights. Its just too fun to pass up...
Solid hustle Exo.
And agreed, I forgot to say that I love to look at the guns/reload animations, so that's a +1 as well.
I apprecite the creator's professionalism in responding to criticism and their willingness to improve their mod.
What I was trying to say is not that this mod will get players to be better (to each their own), but that for me it worked quite well and I wanted to share it. Gonna re-write that as well, cause reading my description again, I understand what I miss-wrote.
That psychological thing I can't really agree with. I believe you if you say you experience it, but I personally never did, or got used to it too fast.
I agree that "point shooting" is not something that a skilled player would do, but I found myself in situations where a lot of times I had more chance surviving if I started firing without ADS, and not only (for me) this viewmodel helps to kinda predict where the bullets will go, but I actually started improving on my gameplay, once getting 3 kills under in a CQB situation.
I understand your point of view and to be frank I'm glad that I got an actual critique instead of another dumbass giving me shit without explaining himself.
"This is a mod for people who want to get better in the game while getting a bit more realistic feeling."
You may want to revise this sentence. Additionally, this statement is misleading. Using this mod will not make you better. Point-shooting (commonly misknown as hip-fire, which is not a feature of Insurgency) is not a skill that will improve any player. In fact, point-shooting is a hallmark of unskilled players. Moreover, the distance (psychologically if not physically) to ADS is greater with this mod, making it even harder for players who use this mod to "get better at the game".
